PALMARES GOLF

Within the natural amphitheatre of the Bay of Lagos, Robert Trent Jones, II has fashioned Europe’s next great golf course, Palmares Golf. The brief given to this exceptional American golf course designer was to craft a 27-hole golf course which maximised the potential of its extraordinary environment.

The result is a golf course of breath-taking natural beauty which is a delight to play. The course opened 18 holes for play in October 2010 and the full 27 in June 2011 and it has matured nicely. RTJ II Golf designed the course with the highest level of international tournament golf in mind as well as a pleasurable golf experience for members and tourists alike.

There is plenty of challenge if that is what you want – especially from the white tees!

Palmares Golf is composed of three returning nine-hole loops that can be played in any sequence. The genius in the routing is that, depending on the sequence of play, each golf experience is different. Each nine-hole loop

– Alvor (1-9), Lagos (10-18) and Praia (19-27) – has its own character and ambience – while Alvor is a traditional Parkland design, and Praia a true Links experience, Lagos – being a

Heathland – is a blend of both and works as an element of transition for the other designs. This philosophy allows one to play three truly distinct golf courses, depending on which is the starting tee.

The new Clubhouse, designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects RCR Arquitectes, provides the perfect social hub for anyone who wants to enjoy the unique lifestyle of this resort. The building, inaugurated in 2020, has a reception and concierge service, supporting resort property owners and golfers, modern golf support infrastructures, a pro shop with a wide variety of golf items, lockers, and parking.

The Clubhouse is also the setting for “AL SUD”, the Michelin-star resort’s fine dining, headed by Chef Louis Anjos. An elegant and cosy space, guided by the art, rigor, and expertise of an author’s cuisine, which invites you to a sensory journey at various levels.
