SAN LORENZO

The San Lorenzo Golf Course was opened in 1988 and takes advantage of wonderful topography on the Quinta do Lago estate, winding its way gently over undulating pine woodland. The 18 holes lie in the unspoilt South east corner of Quinta do Lago, bordering the Ria lagoons.

The course was designed by the American golf architect Joseph Lee and the beautiful Bermuda grass fairways provide perfect playing conditions.

The San Lorenzo Golf Course is laid out in a figure of eight and at the heart lies the San Lorenzo Clubhouse with a golf pro shop; comfortable changing facilities; welcoming bar and restaurant.

The fifth, the shortest hole on the San Lorenzo Golf Course, open up a magnificent vista with the backdrop of golden beaches and the Atlantic Ocean. Drama begins to unfold at the sixth hole where the San Lorenzo Golf Course borders the estuary and great demands are put on accuracy.

The eighth hole turns inland and is without a doubt one of the most spectacular par 5s, bordering the largest of the inland lakes and forcing the third shot to carry water to a tight but beautifully positioned green. With the lake to your right, the tendency is to favour the left side; however bunkers and encroaching pines lie and wait on this side.

It is difficult to describe the breathtaking finale that awaits you at the eighteenth hole. Here without a doubt is one of the finest finishes in golf that you will ever experience, and has become world renowned. There is no escape from the water here and the prefect drive merely lessens the challenge of a shot across water left and right, back and front to a tiny targeted green. The San Lorenzo Golf Course is simply spectacular, and is contiunually improved to add to its natural beauty wherever possible. There are golf courses and golf courses, and only a few leave you with vivid lasting memories and the feeling of being 3 m (10 feet) tall as you walk off the last green - San Lorenzo Golf Course is one.

How to Find

From Faro International Airport: Continue to N125-10 for 1.3 km. Continue on N125-10. Take IC4 and N125 to Estr. do Ludo for9.9 km. Follow Estr. do Ludo, Estr. da Quinta do Lago and Av. da Gondra to Av. André Jordan for 6.4 km. At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Av. André Jordan. Follow R. Douro to R. Paiva.
