MAMMOTH DUNES

Sand Valley was founded on the dream of bringing incredible, public golf to the prehistoric sand dunes of central Wisconsin. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw began designing the routing in 2014 and opened Sand Valley, the resort’s first course, in 2017. They gave us massive and exposed sand dunes, firm and fast fairways, and a multitude of strategic playing options.

David McLay Kidd gave his meandering layout enormous fairways, big accessible greens, and visually-unique hillsides of exposed sand “mammoth dunes” that became the course moniker. At Mammoth Dunes, Kidd will take you on a journey around a majestic landscape, and along the way, his design skews toward helping, which increases thrill and enjoyment.

The Lido – C.B. Macdonald’s long-lost gem – recently restored at Sand Valley by Tom Doak and Renaissance Golf, opened to its members and guests in 2023. It was considered by golf historians as one of the greatest golf courses ever created before being destroyed in 1942. Today, golfers can participate in the Lido’s resurrection and will be captivated by its demand for strategy and bold design.

Sedge Valley, designed by Tom Doak and inspired by the great heathland and links courses of London and the English coast, brings back a more intimate scale and classically styled holes. Golfers will encounter the timeless strategies and elements of courses that Doak believes have best withstood the endless advances of the game.
