Study on the Earthen Materials in Contemporary Architecture Design Relationship between various components of raw materials and architecture: clay
The soil particles are bonded together in a viscous material, belonging to the inorganic soil particle diameter less than 0.005mm, with very high dry strength and medium plastic (ASTM 2005a), generally 8%~ 15% marl clay, and clay content of more than 30% of the soil are prone to excessive cracks.
silt
When water is easy to soften, the particle diameter in the 0.005mm to 0.05mm between the inorganic soil, its dry hard and plastic lower water and pressure, the silt particles are very close, but in the wet and cold, it is easy to expand and lose strength. Therefore, the soil with high mud content requires the addition of emulsified asphalt or other bonding agent to make it stable.
gravel
The particle diameter is larger than 2mm, which has the characteristics of relatively high compressive strength, freezing thawing, porosity and so on. If the particle size is large, then it is mixed with the clay, and it gets the gravel. Clay gravel mixed soil particles smaller, it is a very good earth building materials
organic tempers
Such as straw, rice husk and hair fiber adhesive materials can be used in adobe building maintenance process to effectively reduce the the cracks.

I defined the basic function boxs.
I adjust the traffic space scale according to the traffic flow.
Combined with the site’s present situation, I defined the floor area.
/plane analysis The design process started with the indentification of a suitable circulation system that form the “BOXS”. The exhibition spaces are connected with a loop of bridges.
Space annotation: [1] Underground tomb exhibition for the theme exhibition, the exhibition space design according to the tomb shape, on both sides of the corridor connecting side and rear chambers, divided into funerary tombs and Cultural Treasures Exhibition, exhibition theme exhibition tour around the coffin of 360° rooms.
I cut the boxs and the inside of the boxs become exhibition spaces and the outside of the boxs give shape to the landscape.
The red lines projected on the exterior skin will be utilized to form the roof. And in order to perceive the shapes and providing natural lights in the atrium I set the blue lines on the roof.
Multiple segmentation of the roof, the formation of the final main building and more optimized for natural lighting.

Wenlong Zhu, Lei Wang This project in an abandoned quarry subordinate families formed a community, since abandoned mine caused the local recession, I want to create for mine workers vested with memory landmarks. I used mine unique steel structure design a sparkling community centers, thereby hoping to illuminate the road of development of the community.
Problems of the original community: The original community recreation site is relatively simple, direct residents recreation activities in the abandoned buildings, safety and comfort can not be guaranteed. The residents living in a single, lack of concentration of space for communication and literature and art.Children do not have a fixed place of activity, usually directly on the road to play, lack of security and comfort.

Structure / steel Texture / coal mine Image / Crystal Quantai coal mine put into operation in October 1959, after several generations of hard development. From the original design capacity of 450,000 tons, after two and a number of aspects of expansion technological transformation, to 2003, the approved production capacity of 1.9 million tons or more. After 50 years of magnificent development, culminating in 2012 because of security announced the closure of a mine accident. Mine workers Quantai ghetto formed Quantai community, with the closure of the mine, the workers faced with situations village attrition recession. In this case, the government announced the construction of a community center, on the one hand to carry out education on the history of the coal mine, on the other hand used to enrich the cultural life of the residents. Although there is no perfect facilities, the locals still be able to find "entertain" thing. For example, chess, or a simple variety of sports facilities. So I think, we must design a place where people are willing to gather there's a community center. There are a few concepts from coming out of my mind, first, there must be suitable for large gatherings Square; second, there must be relatively peaceful and safe space; and third, to try to create a landmark, with in order to boost local economic development; Fourth, try to find the historical context elements.
Building Atmosphere The original community because of the economic depression of the reason has become very backward, residents living in a monotonous. So I want to create an iconic building with an appeal. Let the whole community's vitality unfold. I draw on the shape of the Le Louvre Museum expansion project in Paris, designed a glass box to illuminate the night sky.

ModernConomic development, urban population concentration, and wilderness demand of the residence, bring us to develop design and construction of city largely. In the study of the development of residential housing, we find that China's residential construction is mainly to solve three problems: first, the establishment of the neighborhood; the second is the difference between the housing; the third is the comfort of residential. We are trying to solve these three problems on the basis of the completion of the project design.
H I S T O R Y of Aggregated Housing
Chinese modern urban housing is usually not considered the cultural background and the regional character of the whole piece and the whole piece of the development model. At the same time, with the increase of population density, residential housing is rapidly replacing the traditional residential and changing th e way of l i f e. From the discussion of the collective nature of the French architect Le Corbusie's apartment, this is an important clue in the modern architecture in twentieth Century, which has a profound impact on modern urban construction and planning. Architect Le Corbusier from Marseille apartments of collective and absolute standard to Fiji Mini a p a r tment i n t he stand ard of t ryi ng on th e basi s of the di f f erence; and the more in the direction of the differences breakthrough; to Wang Sh u v er tic al houses, re on the basi s of Le Corbusier, parallel to discuss differences and collectively, it is closest to the individual differ ences of collective living mode of ideal w orl d.
Marseille Apartments is a huge "living units" designed by French architect Le Corbusier in 1947, it is 165 meters long, 24 meters wide and 56 meters tall.Le Corbusier was committed to realize the idea of mass production of standardized housing, making Marseille Apartments presents the rational one side of the machine. From the sectional schematic, it is easy to see that Corbusier's intentions: unit is basically copy the superposition of each layer, only when touching the vertical function and traffic will change.Due to Marseilles apartment "mutual" type are copied superposition, the uplink models mainly toward the east, the downward models mainly towards the west. Then the downward families can not experience seascape and sunshine. At that time corbusier may prefer to the standardization of building, so the model is designed to be a standardized product. He was considering more on how to assemble these family models quickly and easily, but those family models’ differences will increase the difficulty of the standardized assemble .
As can be seen from the profile, Strasbourg residence provides a richer than Marseille apartment units. This is what Le Corbusier in Marseille apartment after advancing direction on the living unit. This six-story apartment, no one is the same, even if it is a similar unit, such as encounter stairs, elevators or south-facing apartment, Le Corbusier wanted to use a different permutations and combinations to deal with these. This approach Marseilles apartment is completely different, here is more active pursuit of diversity profiles, rather than just give a standard family structure. On the orientation and units of the match, hoping to avoid Corbusier Marseille apartment copied "defect" and therefore are arranged on each face a variety of different units.
Referring t housing typ other 18 la type acco "Interopera x 7 2m (hig (depth) x4 the balcon apartment residential comfortabl

"Back" structure representing four. ability" shaped basic scale is 3 66m (bay) x21m (depth) gh), "Back" shaped basic scale is 3 66m (bay) x21m 8m (high). Strasser residential adjust the depth of ny and interior corridor width and restore to Marseille sizes: depth is still guaranteed to hold Strathmore 21m, 21m deep depth of more than 24m into the e.
Kangchenjunga apartment by the Indian architect Charles Correa construction of a highrise residential, in order to remain on the base of existing traditional old cottage and garden classes Almagro, Kolya uses a highrise towers, containing the 32 luxury unit, there are five kinds of units, ranging from household 3-6 bedrooms, area of 170-390 square meters. In the "<" type developed a four variants: two as a big a small, a positive a reverse "trumpet" type, which is a large two in a small and a positive to a reverse of the "step" type. In profile, these four types of snap-sectional layer laminated to 14, showing a rich and interesting effects.
Berlin Voids housing program by the Dutch architectural firm MVRDV (founded in 1991) proposed. In the project Berlin Voids, starting from the ideal model of residential design, but in between these ideal model of residential space had imperfect. So arises the ideal model of residential space design between. Set by the anti form forms: through empty space to define different types of apartments, and ultimately achieve 34 kinds of types of housing.
Gifu Kitagata apartment in the standard of trying on the basis of the difference; and the more in the direction of the differences breakthrough; to Wang Shu vertical houses, re on the basis of Le Corbusier, parallel to discuss differences and collectively, it is closest to the individual differences of collective living mode of ideal world.
In this project, Wang Shu turn the high-rise r esi denti al i nto a "ve rtic al stack up" traditional southern courtyard. He believes that "this work is not an or di nar y r esi denti al design, but know can not avoid prescriptive, while experimenting with a city that can accommodate sp ontaneous w ay of l i vi ng, showing a kind of love of the land. Verify that a life in the world of ideal in urban residential design while thinking of urban tr ansc endenc e. "
The stacked single family housing to achieve collective housing: Corbusier thinks, single family housing is a kind of ideal living mode. In addition to an independent home, there is a charming garden that can be played with a relaxing, orchard and vegetable garden. And the statistics of such a unit is about 400 square meters: 150 square meters, the sports venues: 150 square meters arrange planting vegetables. A total of 400 square meters.
MY STRAGY of Aggregated Housing When mnentioned settlements c o n t e m p o r a r y a r c h i t e c t u r a l masterpieces seem few. Constraints due to various reasons, architects seem difficult to make in their hearts desired residential settlements under the current framework; modern superimposed settlements depend on the air there is very difficult to achieve the hearts of architects care about differences collective life, pay attention to the neighborhood association's collective life. In contrast in the last century modernist architectural thought period, a large number of building masters in the face of great expansion of the urban population, the efforts to create the characteristics of the times, the ideal model in line with the architect's collective life. We studied settlements, have to mention the creation of Le Corbusier Marseille apartment. This seems to be what I saw the first attempt to establish a collective life of utopian attempt. " äş’" shaped housing types smarting, but get to the bottom we can easily find it too focused on standardized model and ignore the differences. Of course, we can not deny that it has a groundbreaking new residential patterns changed later collective residential design trends. Then, Le Corbusier also aware of the importance of collective residential differences. Whether or later Fei Mini apartment Strasbourg apartment, residential Corbusier began under the framework of the standard variation. He created a variety of housing types, such as " äş’" shaped and so on. But I think that these so-called diversification attempts architect perspective overlooks all carried out, for the residents living in those housing inside, it is not really to bring the diverse life? Say how people's lives are in one family, one household at the center of the housing for the diversification of perception, overall conditions, affect the lives of the residents it is very limited. This is our question worth considering.
I think, the basic unit of comfortable residence should be 4 to 50 square meters in the form of a combination, a total of 200 square meters. Divided into the following 4 modules: Traffic Module [entrance traffic + staircase + Series space] Maintenance Module [kitchen + bathroom] Leisure Module [living room + balcony] Private Module [bedroom + study] House basic prototype: Set of residential and Huxing ideal should have a front and a back yard, on behalf of the privacy of the beginning and the end of; from the front yard of the public to the backyard of privacy, this sequence, we use our four basic module tissue space. a. Unit establishment principle: A large number of examples and data show that the most appropriate in the family unit of the family unit is not more than six, that is, the six households for a small family, is suitable for the establishment of a range of relations, therefore, when we set up the tower unit, the selection of six for a leader. b. The principle of sharing the projection area In the collar of a tower unit basic element according to the grid the southbound orthographic projection area average, to ensure that households have equal South lighting area. The possibility of diversification in the lead Comprehensive Huxing basic diversified combination principles and South lighting equipartition principle, we received a total of eight leading unit, in which a total of 24 kinds of units. In the late Huxing layout, found that there are 12 types of space in the function of the existence of certain defects. So, we give them up. In the end, I choose 4 units for further design.

We strive to create a public corridor Neighborhood Association, each household has a front yard and a large number of public green plants pool, which is almost a kind of harmonious collective past life, "compound" as a new interpretation. Its construction unit to restore the traditional city, with a model of a small group living units, but also actively trying to reconstruct the past the kind of harmonious neighborhood, and provide residents with high-rise residential space in the relative lack of past activities and games . In particular, each have a small planting space, and placed the love of the people of the land. In the residential part of each layer have left him free space that is available to users free transformation, so that the residents living inside the house to determine its own specificity, avoiding people's lives by architect arrangements wishful thinking. This is, to a large extent solve the problems of assimilation now housing height, increased residents living fun, so every family has the greatest possibility of change.

Thomas Leeser; Jason Vigneri-Beane The idea from urbanization to revolution is essentially an idealistic transition process for the large amount natural villages. The urbanization process of rural areas is under way in China because all rural areas are looking for a new townscape to embrace the outcome of the rapid development of the economy. For the planning stand point, a major concern is that this process will have an important impact on the future of rural areas. Thus, how could this process be better? The world is changing so fast, how should this transition of Chinese rural areas be more stabilized not only for now, but also for the future? This should be a revolution of the Construction of New Countryside in China. Even in a worldwide, this should be how to legitimately and professionally visualize what the future civilized ecologic village should be like.
WATER SHED DESIGN BASED ON THE STUDY OF WATER
This studio begin with focus on measuing, monitoring, andsimulating of every aspects of water. Then we move onto water& culture, water& biology studies. And finally the site Hudson yard, in New York City. I was interested in why and how water being used by humen and every other animals on this planet. And how water works with other material. I studied water culture in China, water culture in farmland. Then I realised that why water can and will always being used is because that water is a insubstantial material and it is easy being controled by us. There also has a unstoppable continuity with water‘s movement. I created a pavilion that has what I learnt from those qualities of water and my understanding of water-control and control water.

To explore how water will behave when it been controled by different types of paths. Humen take advantage of water by controling its movements. Humen lead it move as humen want it to be. That is how water being used. From this point of view, we can simply recongnize that the most important characteristics of water.
