hen asked to describe the atmosphere of Aloha Island Grill, owner Patrick Keegan Sr. needs only two words, “Hang Loose!” As Spokane’s original plate lunch headquarters, Aloha Island Grill effortlessly infuses tropical Hawaiian flavors in their famous lunch plates, sandwiches, and rice bowls. Menu favorites include Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken and the Double Aloha half-pound burger! Group Meals, like the original Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea Party Packs, are great for groups from five to hundreds for meetings, parties, banquets, weddings, and almost any occasion imaginable. Renowned in the greater Spokane area for their artisan bread and pastries, Alpine Bistro & Bakery supplies over 100 local restaurants with their homemade delights. zar’s Restaurant

Azar’s Restaurant believes that everyone should experience the culinary styling of traditional Greek and Middle Eastern dishes. Specialty dishes such as gyros, hummus, falafil, kebobs and baklava on the menu make for a diverse dining ensemble. When patrons enter into Azar’s, they are treated like family in a relaxed and warm environment. Started in 1980, Azar’s has a long tradition of cooking secrets and authentic recipes containing only the finest ingredients. Featuring belly dancers on Friday nights, this makes for an enjoyable and entertaining night out on the town. The lunch buffet, open Monday thru Saturday, gives guests a chance to try new and different flavors. Take out, delivery, and catering options are all available for any occasion.

Cornering Gonzaga’s campus, Bruchi’s CheeseSteaks and Subs serves up some of the best cheesesteaks west of Philadelphia. French rolls are baked daily to make for a unique experience. While cheesesteaks may be Bruchi’s specialty, cold subs, chicken sandwiches, burgers, fries, and salads add variety to the menu. To provide a relaxed, trendy, neighborhood atmosphere to the Gonzaga community, Bruchi’s offers spacious seating, as well as free Wi-Fi and numerous flat screen televisions. oots Bakery & Lounge

espite having been open for just over three months, Boots Bakery & Lounge is quickly becoming a location frequented by Gonzaga students. With excellent vegan food, free Wi-Fi, as well as long hours, it is easy to see why! Boots is Spokane’s only completely vegan restaurant and provides a hip, different, and artsy atmosphere to the dining scene. Where providing healthy options is essential, Boots offers fresh and creative menu items such as vegan carrot cake cupcakes. Complete with a full bar, this downtown café is one of the only places you can get a cocktail, espresso, and a healthy pastry all in one fell swoop. Boots strives to ensure patrons feel good after eating cuisine that is good for them. Boots understands the difference between generous and oversized portions. It is a priority that healthy options are presented in a healthy manner. All menu items at Boots are vegan and almost all are gluten free. For those special occasions, take-out orders as well as catering options are available. Boots attempts to provide a dining experience that is as unique as each customer walking in the door. For a taste of classic American comfort food, look no further than Cruisers Burgers & More. Located in the River Park Square food court, Cruisers is independently owned, giving them the flexibility to meet any dietary need that comes their way. Offering a complete breakfast menu to great burgers and specialty dishes such as a Pot Roast with fresh mashed potatoes and gravy, it is easy to see why Cruisers is a Spokane favorite. The “Healthier Choice” menu offers vegetarian, as well as vegan and gluten free options. errante’s Marketplace

For a break of Spokane, Ferrante’s Marketplace Café recommends a taste of Italy. Serving up traditional, fresh Italian cuisine, this community based, family owned and operated restaurant makes family recipes from scratch using fresh ingredients. Best sellers such as the Chicken Piccatta, a chicken and lemon butter sauce with capers dish served over linguini, or the Palermo pizza, a pepperoni, roma tomatoes, black olives, and parmesan cheese pizza, are cooked to order. s seen on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Hills’ Restaurant & Lounge has been a constant in the Spokane dining community since 1993. For many restaurants, being located in the heart of downtown can create for a rushed, chaotic environment, but for Hills’, they’ve maintained the same neighborly atmosphere that made them a local classic. With a highly trained and professional staff, it’s easy to feel at home in this casual, family owned and operated restaurant. Offering up cuisine with everything from Asian and classic French, to Cajun and traditional pub grub, Hills’ can satisfy any challenge guest’s taste buds can muster. Local favorites such as the Southern Fried Chicken Salad, Pulled Pork Sandwich, and a variety of homemade pasta come with the freshest ingredients grown on Hills’ own organic rooftop garden. A renowned favorite in the Gonzaga community, Kalico Kitchen serves up all American breakfast food sure to stick to your ribs, and leave you smiling. With great food, excellent service, low cost and a clean, downhome feel, Kalico Kitchen treats guests like family. Check out the “Kamakazee Kreation”: one waffle, toast, one pound of hash browns, and a nine egg omelet filled with four different cheeses, four meats, and seven vegetables! A self-described “community melting pot,” Lindaman’s hopes that guests come away with a full belly and a sense of belonging. Lindaman’s rotates through about 50 different salads, always having at least eight options available, like the Edamame and Black Bean salad. They also serve Enchiladas, Stuffed Chicken Breasts, Twice Baked Potatoes, Salmon Cakes and many casserole style entrees. Lindaman’s desserts are also hugely popular and include: Triple Layer Mousse Cake, Fresh Strawberry Blintz Torte, Coconut Cream Pie, Banana Cake with Coconut Custard Filling, and Mocha Toffee Torte. A recent addition of the South Hill community, Manito Tap House strives to provide a unique beer and dining experience with an individualized selection of beer as well as food made from scratch. Manito Tap House received four stars from the Green Restaurant Association for their sustainability efforts making them the greenest restaurant on the West Coast and only the ninth restaurant in the nation with a four star rating. In the early 1970’s, a group of Gonzaga Italian Club students encouraged local pizza maker Pete Barranco to make calzones like they had eaten while studying abroad in Italy. Originally, the Steam Plant was constructed to produce steam heat and electrical power for downtown Spokane, and was in operation until 1986. The restaurant features 80-foot ceilings, old boiler pipes and catwalks, a view to the pub down below, and the opportunity to walk into a 225-foot smokestack! Stacks has a distinctive approach to dining, working with local farmers to create dishes that celebrate the region. Stacks even showcases its own nationally-acclaimed, hand-crafted beers.
