“If the people of the county do what I think they’re going to do we will have a really highly qualified school board,” said Kevin Hazzard, 46, last week, in announcing that he is a candidate for the District 2 seat on the board. Incumbent District 2 School Board member Raymond Miller already has one challenger in Penny Palen, former

chairperson of the Goochland Parents Education Association (GEPA). All other districts have new candidates challenging incumbents, raising the possibility of wholesale change on the School Board which will take office in January. More than 100 friends and supporters gathered on the courthouse green as Creasey took his time meeting and greeting the group. Delegates Bill Janis and Lee Ware also joined the incumbent supervisor and voiced their support for his reelection bid. Sheriff Jim Agnew and Commonwealth’s Attorney Claiborne Stokes also attended to support Creasey’s run. “Put a good word out there for Ned Creasey,” Ware said. “He’s been an advo-

Janis reminded the group of how Creasey changed the landscape of Goochland politics and government with his original campaign promises “Four years ago when we were here on the courthouse steps, Ned stepped up to this mike and made two promises,” see Creasey > page 2
