Goochlanders will have a chance to see a full-length production of the holiday favorite “The Nutcracker” this year. For the last two years The Concert Ballet of Virginia (CBV) has performed the “short version” of the holiday favorite, said Associate Director Scott Boyer. “It’s the first time for a full scale show in Goochland,” said Boyer as he watched

Parent volunteer John Madeira said he hopes the four performances at the middle school will draw people all the way from the Charlottesville area in the west to the Richmond area in the east. The ballet performed in Charlottesville for a number of years in the past. Four performances are scheduled for

The 35 Mile Drive Association met last week at historic Tuckahoe Plantation to talk about their goals for the coming year. And to build membership. Treasurer Jenny Liesfeld reported that 12 of the charter members had paid their $50 dues. “We’ve got to get 25 or 30 people involved in this thing,” said Wayne Dementi, the organization’s vice president. Members who join before the end of the year will be designated charter members and pay $50. After the first of the year the membership fee goes up to $65. High on the agenda for next year is to publish the association’s brochure. A logo has already been designed. Designing and rolling out a web site is the second big goal, said president Aynsley Fisher. A third priority for next year is the adoption of a “signature” event by the association, an idea that sparked a great deal of discussion. Fisher also promoted the idea of bringing attention to all the horse related activities available in Goochland County. “We have everything here,” said Fisher. “It’s like a well-kept secret,” said Doris Elderman, Executive Director of the Goochland Chamber of Commerce. “Goochland needs to toot its own horn.”
