Siding with over 100 residents who urged them to vote against allowing the construction of a 48,000 square foot self storage facility near the intersection of Route 6 and 288, the Goochland County Planning Commission voted 4-0 on Aug. 3 to deny a rezoning request for the property. At issue was a 6-acre parcel of land adjacent to the Creekmore community, an upscale neighborhood constructed in 2002. According to the rezoning request filed by Creekmore Group LLC, the project would include the two-story self storage building and two 5,000 square foot office buildings. While the developers’ attorney, Darvin Satterwhite, told planning commissioners that the project fit perfectly with what the county’s comprehensive plan recommends for the area — and would cause less of an impact than the five smaller office buildings that had been approved for the site but
