Thanks to a grant from the Goochland Education Foundation, around 150 Goochland High School students recently constructed a Low Ropes Challenge Course. As part of the personal development, team-building activity, students spent the school year learning about site work, earth moving, construction delays due to weather and permits, and what tools, materials, and equipment are needed for each task. Given that some of these tasks require the latest technology, they are practical lessons for the adult life in the 21st century. “The GEF is committed to preparing students for the future in an ever-changing global marketplace and in their community,” said GEF executive director Cyndy Brown. “We’re thrilled also that students will benefit from the course for many years to come. Impact on educational practices comes in many forms and the GEF is proud to create that impact.”
