Thanks to a new county ordinance approved by the Goochland County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 7, Goochlanders who wish to drive golf carts in residential neighborhoods are one step closer to being able to do so legally. While state code currently prohibits the use of golf carts on public roadways, it does allow for local governments to create their own ordinances governing the practice (the one exception relates to golf course communities, where residents who live within a half-mile of the course’s clubhouse are allowed to drive their carts there). According to deputy county administrator Todd Kilduff, who presented the proposed ordinance to the board members, the new county policy would not offer blanket permission for the use of golf carts
