After one of the most contentious races in recent memory, the battle to become Goochland’s next sheriff ended Nov. 5 with a decisive victory by current sheriff’s office sergeant Steven N. Creasey.
Creasey defeated opponent Levin White, also a career law enforcement officer, by a margin of 5,145 votes, capping off a campaign that had officially kicked off over a year ago. GES now one step closer to new home Goochland is one step closer to having a new elementary school, after the county Planning Commission unanimously approved a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) that would allow construction of the proposed 92,000 square foot facility. The proposed 104-acre location at the intersection of Bulldog Way and Steeplechase Pkwy, located near the county’s high school and middle school complex, is already owned by the county and would be an appropriate location for the project, according to Tom Coleman, a principal planner with the county Planning Department.
