At last, new animal shelter could have open date in sight By Roslyn Ryan Editor

Goochland County animal lovers received some welcome news on April 7, as Deputy County Administrator for Operations Derek Stamey updated supervisors on the projected opening date for the county’s long-awaited new animal shelter. According to Stamey, the 13,941 square foot stateof-the-art Goochland County Animal Protection and Adoption Center, which is being constructed on the same Hidden Rock Lane site as the previous facility, could see the county’s Animal Protection Division move in as soon as next month. Stamey said a grand opening will likely be held in June. Stamey told board members that he was having a hard time containing his excitement over the progress made on Photo by Roslyn Ryan
