Two-tone Cabinetry
Who says that all cabinets in your kitchen need to be matchymatchy? I love when the upper cabinets are light and bright, while the lower cabinets and/or island have a bit more oomph (think light or charcoal grey, contrasting wood, or even blue!). Choosing a different colour or stain for the lower cabinets brings visual interest to the space and can make the room feel taller. Bonus points if you use a contrasting material for the hood fan to stand out!
Wooden Accents

With several years of white-on-white-on-white being the go-to look for kitchens, I really like how wooden accents can warm up a space and bring a slight rustic feel to it! My favourite is using wooden floating shelves to replace some upper cabinetry, but thick butcher blocks are another way to highlight natural tones in your design. The options are endless when bringing wood into the kitchen as an accent – and between you and I, shopping for these pieces might be the most fun.
Bold Greens & Blues

I’m LOVING the trend of incorporating green or blue elements into the kitchen - whether it’s a muted green acting as a neutral backdrop, or a bold blue on the island or on the backsplash for a smaller touch. Green hues pair well with many different hardware finishes - aged brass, bronze, brushed nickel and even black - and can act a warm or cooler colour, depending on the undertone of the green. Blue also looks amazing with warm gold hardware, as showcased in this blue kitchen from our Design Studio!
Gold ‘Jewelry’

Gold is not going out of style anytime soon – and can help add a classic and timeless look to your kitchen (with a little bit of glamour on the side). Add gold for kitchen hardware like drawer pulls, for faucets, and even for lighting! It’s especially impactful when it’s paired with dramatic espresso or black cabinets and sparkly countertops for a luxe feel. And it’s completely to your discretion – go all out, like in our Vista Hills Model Home, or add in accent pieces for small touches of sophistication.
Design Studio Manager Shares a Pro Tip
Build some visual dimension and drama in your kitchen by pairing black or dark grey cabinets with natural wood tones and pure white quartz countertops! This sleek look makes for a stunning space without being too overwhelming.
