Dear guest, Myself and my wife, Mary, would like to welcome you to our home. I have prepared this manual (Which you mostly won’t need) to help you with the various different aspects of the house. From the code for the lock outside the door, how to operate the BBQ, the wifi code, how to use the central heating, the TV, the microwave etc. I have also provided you with a quick guide to the rest of Bray and it’s surroundings. With this you will find a map of the area with bus stops, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs etc marked on it. We hope you enjoy your stay in our home and that you will look after it as we have. Kind Regards Jonathan Tallon +353 87 2620486

GARAGE AND OUTSIDE AREAS THE LOCK BOX FOR THE KEYS

THE GARAGE

The key for the front door and the key for the garage are in a lock box which is on the decking, under the window, left of the front door. The code for this box is 3127.

There are two bikes on the garage. One ladies and on gents but both are suitable for either. You are welcome to use these if you look after them. However you may have to check the tyre pressure on them. If they need to be inflated you can use the pump provided.

If there is more than one person staying in the house, it would be best practice to always leave the keys in the box, in case one of you comes back to the house without the other. The Wifi code for the house is: !!Heatherside However, if you do get locked out, here are three phone numbers that you can call in a key emergency. 1. Justin Tallon: 087 981 9823 2. Ann Hargaden: 087 298 1090 3. Mark:

First using the fire hoover, clean out ash.

The fire logs are under the TV. To refill the basket just wheel the basket through the French windows, across the patio, over to the wooden shed. Inside the shed you will find bags of logs. Then return the basket the same way

Then spray the inside of the glass and wipe whit paper towel.

When that is done use dirty paper towels as kindle along with fire-lighters and logs to start fire.

Pull leaver out, for air, when starting fire. Then when fire gets going, push leaver back, to make fire hotter and last longer.

The cleaning & lighting stuff is at the side.

LOCAL WALKS

There are many good walks around Bray with great views and unspoilt landscape. These next few pages are just some of them.

One of the highlights of walking in Wicklow. This linear walk takes you from Bray to Greystones along the stunning coastal path. The path is well maintained and you can return by light rail (DART) to the start point. Greystones has plenty to offer the hungry walker after beautiful views and a range of marine wildlife. From Heatherside you can walk up the road to the car park where the start of the walk is. This is a very enjoyable walk in a spectacular coastal setting linking Bray and Greystones. It brings you around the side of Bray Head above the railway line and rocky coastline on a path which is a bit rough in places, with a steep climb at the Bray end. Views both up and down the coast are breath-taking . WARNING: Parts of the walk have become unstable due to the prolonged period of very heavy rainfall on top of the very wet preceding months of January and February. Some of the landslides are visible from the walk but others are not and are considered dangerous as those using the walk would not be aware of same.

BRAY HEAD WALK (See 2 on the Map provided) Bray Head Walk is a 9.8-kilometre loop trail, joining up with the ‘Cliff Walk’ and the ‘Windgates/Loop Trail’ (See Map) where you have breathtakingly beautiful scenic views of County Dublin and Bray itself. The hill dominates the end of the promenade and the stone cross atop the hill is an iconic feature of the town. While the climb is not particularly daunting, some parts can be a bit of a challenge and require some scrambling. But if the hike up doesn’t leave you breathless the views sure will! Don’t forget to look out for the mobile coffee truck which is usually situated half way on the walk (See Map)

GLEN OF THE DOWNS (See Map provided) Glen of The Downs Nature Reserve is also known as Bellevue. The Reserve is the finest example of oak wood of it’s type close to Dublin. It is largely Sessile Oak with an understorey of Holly and a dense carpet of Woodrush, Bilberry and Heather. The woods abound in birdlife and 21 breeding species have been recorded here. Each bird species occupies a distinct niche in the woodland having different feeding and nesting habits. Some, like the Jay, have a varied diet which includes berries and nuts while others such as Treecreepers and Wrens have largely insect based diet. The Wood Warbler builds on the ground, whereas the Woodpigeon prefers a platform of twigs up in the tree canopy. Birds such as the Blackbird and the Robin, are fiercely territorial and defend their feeding and nesting patch by singing and chasing off intruders.

Powerscourt Waterfall is 6km from the Main Estate and is set in one of Ireland’s most beautiful parklands at the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. It is recommended that you drive to the location and there is plenty of parking available there. He built the promenade to make bray into the popular seaside resort it has become today. His work earned Bray the title ‘The Brighton of Ireland’. You can follow the path up from the southern end of the Promenade to Bray Head. There is something for everyone along Brays mile long Promenade. From the Sea Life Centre. HARBOUR BAR (See 4 on the Map provided) It’s not surprising that Lonely Planet once voted this the best bar in the world. It possibly has everything a tourist could imagine they require, but remains solidly local just the same. The snug, the live lounge, the bar, the upstairs rooms, the big, open beer garden in front: there really is somewhere for everyone, but it doesn’t have the off-kilter feel of a superpub. It’s simply the result of evolution and natural growth and, it seems, giving people what they want. Locals talk about it with that familiar confidence that comes with knowing they’ve made the right choice. They’re comfortable here and know you will be too.
