Full Cholesterol (Lipid) Profile
WHY MEASURING CHOLESTEROL IS IMPORTANT?
Cholesterol is vital for normal body function but high cholesterol levels increase the risk of coronary heart disease and disease of the arteries. •
Heart disease is the number one killer of women and men in Ireland with 22% of premature deaths (under age 65) caused by cardiovascular disease.
•
The higher your blood cholesterol level, the greater your risks for developing heart disease or having a heart attack.
To help gauge your cardiovascular health you need to establish your cholesterol levels as this can be a good indicator, this cannot be taken in isolation as other factors need to be taken into account.
