The Wind Is Blowing

I

by Andrew Towe

was reading Genesis 8:1 and it says, “And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters assuaged.” Noah was a righteous man when it would have been easier for him to have blended in with everybody else. He began to proclaim a prophetic message of repentance because a flood was coming. I don't think we can fully realize how ridiculous this message must have seemed to the people of Noah’s day and what a step of boldness

like Noah, who are exempt from the opinions of people. They will declare what God has said. We know from Sunday school that it rained for forty days and forty nights. Then the Ark rested in the seventh month upon the mountains of Ararat. The waters decreased continually until the tenth month. Noah sent out a dove three times. The first time the dove simply returned; the second time the dove returned with an olive leaf; and the third time the dove did not return. Thus, Noah knew all was good! There is a deeper revelation to be seen here. God made a “wind” to pass over the earth. The Hebrew word for wind is “ruach,” which by definition means, “by resemblance of breath that is sensible or even violent exaltation”. God made the wind or He breathed an exhale that pushed back the water of destruction. God is making a wind that is going to push back what has been causing destruction in your life. When the Holy Spirit began to speak to me, He said tell the people, “I am blowing out destruction and blowing in blessing.” Get ready for new doors of opportunity and new revelation of God’s provision. God remembers you!

It was a fearless message that exuded obedience to God’s voice. I pray that God will raise up some prophets

it was for Noah to deliver this word from God, because those people had never seen or felt rain! In fact, at that time dew supplied their need of water. So a vaporizing midst was all they had ever known. Then, here comes this bold prophet, Noah, declaring this crazy message that water was going to fall from the sky and they needed to repent or be destroyed. It must have seemed absurd. Furthermore, the people witnessed Noah building this huge monstrosity of a boat that he would supposedly sail inside of and that was going to keep him safe from the flood.

Some of you reading this today have been through a season of being hidden away. You may be feeling like God has forgotten about you because, like Noah, you have been stuck inside an ark or, like David, you have been hiding out in a cave. God remembered Noah and He is remembering you! He has not forgotten you and He will never forsake you! It was for your protection that you have been hidden; but I believe today, God is bringing you into a new season. The waters that destroyed everybody else, was Noah’s mode of transportation. God is bringing you to a new destination. The floods have stopped and the wind is blowing. God’s provision is being released! Andrew Towe and his wife, Brooke, together pastor Ramp Church Chattanooga. They have one daughter, Giuliana, and are currently expecting a son this fall. Even as Ezekiel was carried out by the spirit to the valley of dry bones, Pastor Andrew has been called to speak the prophetic message of awakening to the Tennessee Valley, raising up an army of believers from the dry scattered bones and equipping them to advance the kingdom of God.

Gò0dNews for Men

by Dr. Greg Collins

or a very large portion of my life, I have lived under the influence of many mighty men and women of valor coming home from the battlefront of war. I first want to say to all the men and women who have served our country faithfully, whether in times of peace or times of war, thank you. We salute and honor all of our veterans, past and present. In the scriptures, we find many heroes of the faith. We find many instances and stories of great men and women of valor such as Rahab, who hid the spies of Israel, or Samson the man who would slay many with the jaw bone of a donkey. Maybe we talk about Moses who would face down a mighty pharaoh or how about Paul, who even at the peril of his own life would not deny Christ. We can write a multitude of accounts of those whose lives have exhibited uncommon valor in their time. To those men who are called by God as the spiritual leaders in our homes, there lies the potential for uncommon valor in us. I have found in my life following Christ, the hardest place to stand for Jesus is among those who know us the best. One of the most difficult places to stand for the truth of God’s word and what is right is among those who see our failures and shortcomings. The problem we face is our definition of uncommon valor. We believe that this uncommon valor is found in few people. We believe that there are only a few who, in difficult situations or circumstances,

12 // May 2018

can muster up the courage to go forth and walk in uncommon valor. The truth is, the real definition of uncommon valor, is that it is a quality found within that comes to surface despite the circumstance and situation. Most heroes will say they never planned on being a hero. Most will say that they didn’t know that character trait was within them until the need arose. See, those who become heroes do so not because they know what the outcome will be, but that it is more important for them to do something rather than not to do anything at all. Clearly, we are living in a time where men who love God need to stand up for truth and not be afraid to let their light shine before men, even if those who see that light are the ones who we know the best. It takes courage to share your faith; it takes courage to stand for truth and what is right, despite our failures and shortcomings. Shall we do nothing? I think the words of Paul are fitting here: “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:14). Rise up, and press on. It will take courage and uncommon valor, but greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.

Enemies

re you your own worst enemy? Recently, I was reading in the book of Psalms and kept coming across phrases such as “arise against my enemies,” “bring them to their knees,” “humiliate them,” and “bring them shame and disgrace.” Understanding that King David lived in a time of great wars and wondering how these passages in Psalms applied to me, I asked the Lord, “Who are my enemies?”

To which He answered, “You are your greatest enemy.” I have been dwelling on this thought for some time, trying to examine why I am constantly working against myself. Whether it is dieting, cleaning house, or starting a project in which, I know the Lord wants me to play a part, I seem to procrastinate or to find a way to excuse my lack of action. Apostle Paul had this same struggle and wrote about it in the seventh chapter of Romans. “For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.” As Paul comes to the end of this discussion, he comes to the conclusion that his actions are caused by nothing else but the sin that dwells within him. James also expresses in James 4:17, “Therefore, to

14 // May 2018

the one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.” Why am I sharing this with you? I am sharing because, I believe, I am not in this battle alone, nor can I win it alone. There is something to be said for comradery. What if we turned the tables? What if mighty women of God started becoming who they were destined to be instead of continually falling prey to their own doubts, fears, or laziness? What if we decided to chase after the “God dream” that is placed inside each of us with the same tenacity that we compare ourselves to others? Maybe it is over time that we start to love ourselves a little bit more. After all, the Bible does say to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you. What if we start praying that we will be kinder to ourselves? As we bring our flesh under submission to God’s will for our lives, we can start becoming whom He has called us to be. It is time to put away the false identity we have given to ourselves and embrace who we are as daughters of the Most High. This change will not happen overnight, but I believe, it will happen sooner than you think. Will you join me in this challenge? 1. Determine to intentionally spend time in prayer and allow the Holy Spirit to renew your mind. 2. Claim God’s promises over your life. 3. Dare to dream of something amazing to do for the Kingdom of God. 4. Replace bad habits one at a time with good habits and celebrate small accomplishments. 5. Pray for God to give you strategies to accomplish His purposes in your life. “To acquire wisdom is to love oneself; people who cherish understanding will prosper” (Proverbs 19:8).

Sheep Feeding by David McFarland

H

Do you love me?

ave you ever been asked that? Most of us have at some time in our lives. What was your answer? Usually “Yes” or “Of course” or maybe even “Yes, you know I do.” Often we’re asked that by someone who loves us and needs a little reassurance. Have they ever added “If you love me then why don’t you ____________?” You can fill in the blank. Sounds like a form of conditional love doesn’t it? What if they keep on asking the same thing? Annoying right? You

to being a fishermen, had a family, lived a long life, and gone to paradise when he died. Not too bad of an existence. Jesus knew that Peter was destined for so much more. After all he was “the rock.” In order to reach his full potential, there was a condition placed upon his love for the Lord. “Feed my sheep.” Peter accepted the challenge and the rest is history, Bible history. The man who massively failed as a friend when Jesus was arrested by denying that he even knew Jesus, got the chance to redeem himself (even though he didn’t have to because Jesus’s death on the cross was redemption enough). Peter made the most of his life and is now affectionately known as St. Peter, the rock that God built the church on. That would not have happened if he had not decided to “Feed the sheep.”

Do you love me?

may have guessed where I’m going with this. Yep, Peter in John chapter 21. He’s eating breakfast with Jesus after He has been resurrected. Jesus asks him three times “Do you love me?” When Peter says “Of course” The Savior says “Then feed my lambs” and “Then feed my sheep” and finally “Then take care of my sheep.” Sounds conditional doesn’t it? But God is supposed to love us unconditionally. So, what gives? I believe it comes down to the fact that God wants what’s best for us.

I believe that Jesus is asking you and me the same thing. “Do you love me? Then feed my sheep.” His love for us will not be changed if we decline, but if we answer His call we can reach the potential that He has planned for us. God calls us to serve Him and to serve others. What does feeding His sheep look like? I believe it can look like a lot of different things. For some, it’s full time ministry, maybe even on the mission field. For most, I think it’s probably closer to home, often at your local church. Sheep feeding there can take on many forms from actual teaching, such as a small group or Sunday school class, to parking lot duty or nursery duty. I don’t know what it looks like for you, but God does. He has a plan to use you. Ask Him with a willing heart and I’m sure He’ll reveal where and how He wants you to feed His sheep. Do you love Him?

Peter obviously knew that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God. He believed; therefore, he was “saved.” He was headed to Heaven. He could have went back

Challenge Golf An Interview with CGA staff

W

e asked Ron Potter, Founder of CGA: what is the vision of the Challenge Golf Association? The CGA exists to fulfill the Great Commission given to each of us in Matthew 28:19. We use the game of golf as a platform to pursue our vision of “sharing the gospel with one million golfers.” It has proven to be a great catalyst for relational evangelism. Is it possible for a golf course to actually bear fruit as a mission field? Absolutely! With 26 million golfers and 15,000 courses in the USA, our mission field is huge. The Barna Research Group produced a recent survey that illustrates why it is a mission field ripe for the harvest. In a typical golf tournament with 100 players there is a good likelihood that: • 37 may suffer from alcohol or substance abuse • 35 may be addicted to pornography • 23 are considering bankruptcy • 45 are alienated from their children for one reason or another • 27 have been devastated by a failed marriage and • 2 are seriously contemplating suicide How is the Challenge Golf Association sharing the Gospel with these men? By partnering with potentially thousands of like-minded churches of various denominations in a unique golf tournament event simply called The Invitational©. When did The Invitational© tournament begin? Well, I had been overseeing church golf leagues from the Tri-Cities to Chattanooga for over three decades, primarily for just good fun and fellowship. In 2004, we decided to conduct

20 // May 2018

our first truly evangelistic outreach tournament at Flagstone (now Chatata Valley) golf course in Cleveland, TN. It was pretty primitive compared to the high standard we have today in conducting events, but several life-changing decisions were made and just knowing the Lord was in it was enough for us. Today, The Invitational© has been experienced by many in this area and bore great results. The two tournaments conducted in Southeast Tennessee last summer totaled 130 players with 42 written decisions made for Christ. What exactly is it that makes The Invitational© so unique to other tournaments and golf ministries? First, it is absolutely free to each player, paid in full by sponsors, serving as a visual illustration of God’s amazing grace! Second, caddies and volunteers are enlisted from the host church to invite their un-churched friends, business associates or family members to play in this free tournament. We show the caddies how they can use their natural friendships and skills to serve golfers, just like on the PGA Tour, a picture of servanthood. And third, our ongoing discipleship training contained in our Caddie Action Plan teaches relational evangelism principles through a detailed outreach strategy. Finally, we show our ministry partners how Challenge Golf can fund The Invitational© at no cost to the church! All we ask is for a little cooperation and trust in our proven process. “Leave no church behind” is the ongoing philosophy of our dedicated staff! Speaking of dedicated staff, Dr. Terry Fields oversees Ministry Partner Development. He has been a successful pastor,

denominational leader, non-profit consultant, and fundraiser. He earned a doctorate in Evangelistic Church Growth and is the former Executive Vice President of Church Evangelism at the North American Mission Board in Atlanta, GA. We asked Dr. Fields if the church has been receptive to partnering with Challenge Golf: Yes, they are thrilled because The Invitational© is such an exciting and creative new tool for them to use to grow their church. And now, through years of pilot events from Savannah, GA, to Covina, CA, we have many great stories and incredible results to share. The Invitational© is a good fit for any size church, too. The mega-church in California now has 22 families in the church as a direct result of The Invitational© and the follow up afterwards. The small, rural church in Etowah, TN, had 26 written decisions for the Lord on the day of their tournament! And it’s really hard to beat free! We come along beside the church and show them exactly how to do this step by step. Now that’s a great partnership! It’s our desire to build life-long relationships with each ministry partner to assure the gospel is preached through The Invitational© in perpetuity. One thing I know for sure about real evangelism is that it requires relationships to effectively be communicated. Golf is the ultimately relational sport. When you spend 4 or 5 hours with someone on a golf course, you get to know them. Our work uses natural relationships and the fun of golf to open doors and open hearts. We help our ministry partners prepare for The Invitational© by showing them who to invite and how to encourage them to participate. Then after the big event, we help with the follow up strategy to keep the relationships growing. It really is more than just a game. Another key player for the CGA is Lee Stewart, Chairman of the Board. Lee has been in the banking business since 1972. He is the founding CEO of Southern Heritage Bank with several locations in Cleveland and Chattanooga and provides outstanding leadership for CGA.

Lee, what compelled you to lead the organization as Chairman of the Board? The CGA offers a unique way to introduce the Gospel to golfers. All of us who know Christ as Lord and Savior understand our responsibility to spread the Good News. I fully support the CGA model to be an effective way to share Christ. And what would you like to communicate today to those just learning about Challenge Golf? This is an outstanding way to share the Gospel. If you love golf and you love Jesus Christ, you can be a part of this wonderful non-denominational ministry! Ron, this really is an exciting ministry. How close is Challenge Golf to being the national ministry that you and the Board of Trustees envision? The foundation is solid. The strategy is proven. The staff is identified. With appropriate funding the CGA could be conducting The Invitational© every day, with a new church, in a different community, somewhere across the country. Step by step we are getting there. Yes, it’s a big vision, but we have a big God. And since it’s His vision, we look forward to being used by Him and watching Him get it done through His provisions. And for me personally, I realize now more than ever that true joy comes from fulfilling the specific purpose for which we were created. Become a partner with Challenge Golf and play a significant role in the vision to “share the Gospel with one million golfers.” Take great satisfaction in making a difference today! Celebrating victories on... The CGA Tour ...it’s more than a game! www.ChallengeGolf.org

Sometimes God Has To Write It in the Sky ur first (and only) time going to Disney as a family, we had talked to all of our friends who were Disney fanatics. They told us how to make reservations at the resort and the best dinner places around the parks, about the Disney dining plan, about how to ride all the best rides, how to make your dollar go further, what days to do the park hopper, where to see the fireworks and parades, transportation to the park, how to stay late, how to see the characters. These people knew everything. So, with much fear and trepidation I said, “Okay Anita, make the reservation.” My wife did all her homework and made reservations for us. Of course, for the McGinnis clan we have to have enough room to sleep six Anita gets a really great Disney representative on the phone who set us up with adjoining rooms, a reasonable meal plan and park passes for four days all for a reasonable price. We always try to stay positive for our kids. When they are anxious we try to remind them of Philippians 4:6-7, which says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” However, God usually has to remind me, too. On the long drive to Orlando, I started getting anxious. I was thinking, “We are going to get there and the plans

are going to fall apart.” I was thinking “Wow, I am so Disney ignorant. What happens if we have a terrible time? I will have wasted all this money and all this time and we didn’t get any closer as a family.” We got to “the happiest place on earth” the night before our first park day. I got a few hours of restless sleep at the All-star Value Resort and the next morning I got up and went poolside to do my regular quiet time. So, in my journal I talked to God about my worries and anxieties about us going to the Disney parks for four days with four kids. Finally, in desperation, I wrote, “Okay God, if this is all going to work out, you are just going to have to write it in the sky.” So, we got in the Safari van and headed to the park. As we were driving into the parking lot, the kids said, “Hey Dad, that airplane is writing letters in the sky.” It said, T.R.U.S.T and under it is said, J.E.S.U.S.” So, the rest of the week, I did. I had that peace that guards your hearts and minds. I didn’t need secret insider knowledge of Disney. All I needed was Jesus Now, whenever I get anxious about anything, my wife and kids say, “Hey dad, that airplane is writing words in the sky.”

It refers to a woman, a female, or a wife. King Lemuel affirms that a virtuous woman exhibits excellence in her moral character. She is like a rare gemstone that’s hard to find. here’s power, - power, - wonderworking power - in the blood - of the Lamb.” Like many classical hymns, its lyrical content is

a product of a biblical principle. Ephesians 1:7 reminds us, “…we have redemption through [Christ’s] blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” This is the essence of the Christian’s salvation. However, it is no arbitrary coincidence that through blood we have newness of life. This spiritual

Digestion

It is estimated that digestion requires ten percent of

your daily caloric intake. For the average 2,000 calorie diet 200 calories will be used for digestion. Just to put it in perspective, a 25-minute jog burns about that many calories! Needless to say, more digestive work requires more energy and oxygen, thus requiring more blood. Ever get sleepy and sluggish after eating? Trouble concentrating or fighting heavy eyelids?

but because dress can affect circulation, our health can be affected also. There are two primary dangers with how clothing relates to circulation: 1) clothing that restricts circulation, and 2) clothing that stagnates circulation. In an age of increasingly tight fashion and professional attire, even with healthy blood, our wardrobe could end up costing us more at the doctor’s office than what we fork out at the mall. On the other hand, circulation is more free and efficient when the body is warm. Being well and evenly covered, especially in chilly rooms or during winter, promotes blood circulating to the extremities rather than

linked with the respiratory system. More blood pumped equals more oxygen needed to go in that blood. Taking the stairs, walking to a colleague’s office instead of calling, deep breathing, staying well hydrated, and (for the go-getters) doing pushups or jumping jacks, will quicken the blood and perk you up. As you begin this endeavor to improve your health through improved circulation, always remember that it is because Jesus was willing to lose His life, to shed His precious blood, that you and I can enjoy health and everlasting life.

Gò0dNews for Mothers

The Beauty of Motherhood by Dr. Rita Carr

Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. 25

The journey of Motherhood is seasons of joy, laughter, heartache, and great prayer. But as a precious Christian mother journeys through motherhood, God will instruct her with His Word as she seeks Him with a heart surrendered to His plan and purpose. Yet, remembering His watchful eye knows all things (Psalm 33:13). As a child is birthed into this world the joyous arrive is the beginning of ministry for the parents of this bundle of joy. Motherhood is a gift from our Heavenly Father, our great God. The gift of motherhood is a beautiful role of nourishing her children with loving care and a warm embrace. And as a mother seeks the Lord in prayer, He will enable her to instruct her precious child with godly wisdom.

She instructs the young and tender hearts of her precious children in God’s Word that His Word will be planted in their heart. These precious parents seek to prepare their children to live a life that honors our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Though the gift and role of motherhood is a godly honor and at times the journey will be of joy, but at other times is will be of challenges. The journey of motherhood is a path of faith and trust in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. But, rejoice! These seasons do pass as we trust in our great God who loves our children much more that we could ever love them.

God Sees Your Child Isaiah 49:16

“Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.” Yet, when a child goes astray and seeks a path of pain and negative choices, the mother’s heart seeks the heart of God on behalf of her wayward child. Though the situation may seem hopeless, the precious mother never gives up though tears in her eyes and at times discouragement in her heart. This precious mother prays from the cry of her heart and seeks our great God on behalf of her child. Trusting our great redeemer Jesus Christ is able to deliver her wayward child that they will receive salvation or a surrendered life. The beauty of a godly mother is that she never stops believing and trusting God for the very best for her child. “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him” (Psalm 28:7). Rejoice, dear Mother, for you were chosen by God to be in the wonderful ministry of motherhood. Yet, remember in the journey of motherhood you never journey alone for our great God has promised that He will never leave nor forsake His children (Hebrews 13:5).
