Scott’s Bicycle Centre: Service & Friendship
In today’s nonstop hustle and bustle, finding the time to slow down and unplug is difficult, and those moments we can steal away from appointments and commitments are valuable and irreplaceable. More people are finding cycling as their favorite way to unplug as it also affords the opportunity to get some exercise, burn some calories, and experience just the right level of excitement.
The folks at Scott’s Bicycle Centre have been getting Clevelanders onto bicycles and keeping those bicycles working properly for 42 years. Born on a farm just outside of Tempo, Co Fermanagh in Northern Ireland in 1935, Scott Coulter immigrated to America in 1963 with his bride, Doreen, to build a life that was not possible in any other nation on earth. Scott had sold and worked on bicycles in a tiny shop in Ireland, and he chose to build their future on this foundation and on the foundation that no other laid, which is Jesus Christ. Scott had a love for the Lord and a love for his fellow man that was instantly apparent to anyone who entered his shop. He instilled these loves in his son, Doug, and so the same focus can be experienced today when you visit Scott’s Bicycle Centre.

Scott’s Bicycle Centre believes in our community and is involved with a number of local charities that are focused on improving lives in Cleveland and the surrounding area. Our biggest focus now is with Family Promise, who helps homeless families get back on their feet and into
relationships in the community that will ensure long-term success. As Scott and Doreen were both taken by cancer, charities that focus on that fight are also near and dear to their hearts.
This St Patrick’s Day, Scott’s Bicycle Centre will be celebrating 42 years in business in Cleveland, Tennessee. They are planning a celebration sale beginning on Sunday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. with a cookout and Irish-themed treats to help raise money and to publicize the “Pedaling for the Paws” event with local veterinarian and mountain bike racer Carey Lowery. Every bike over $300 will be on sale with additional savings on everything else in the shop (excluding Garmin products). There will be games and prizes on Sunday as well as the tasty treats for “Pedaling for the Paws.” Be sure to come by and help us celebrate as you save big money on your spring cycling goods!
Local veterinarian and US Army vet Carey Lowery is hosting “Pedaling for the Paws” to raise money to make sorely needed improvements to the Humane Society
Shelter in Athens. She will be riding an epic virtual climbing ride on her bicycle where she will climb up Mt. Everest in a single ride (in July). She will be at Scott’s on Sunday, March 15 to help us celebrate
our birthday and to stump for animals in need.
