INSPECTIONS

Your new playground has the added benefit of being low maintenance . Whilst the equipment will require minimal maintenance, inspections should be carried out on a regular basis in order to ensure that equipment is in correct running order .

There are several factors that will affect how frequently your inspections and maintenance checks need to be carried out . Some factors include:

• High level of use • Coastal location • Older equipment • Lower levels of supervision

On the following pages you will find an inspection timetable listing the items on your playground equipment that should be checked at each inspection . We have also included an example routine inspection sheet to help you get your inspection schedule up and running .

INSPECTIONS

We recommend the following schedule of inspections in order to keep a properly maintained play area .

It is recommended that your Playground Auditor:

• Is a certified and experienced Playground Auditor and Safety Inspector . • Has extensive knowledge of the playground standards . • Is fully insured (Professional Indemnity and Public Liability minimum 5 million AUD) .

Routine Inspection

This should be carried out each day prior to use, or once in every 24 hour cycle . Visual inspections should identify obvious hazards such as foreign objects and dirty or damaged parts . This can be carried out by a member of staff .

Operational Inspection

This is a more detailed inspection to check the operation and stability of the equipment, in particular for wear . This should be carried out by a Goplay Playground Auditor .

Comprehensive Inspection

A comprehensive inspection should be carried out annually .

This is done to establish the overall safety of the equipment, foundations and surfaces . This will also assess any change in the safety of the equipment resulting from repairs made, or from added/replaced components . This should be carried out by a Goplay Playground Auditor .
