COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION LACROSSE 2012 FINAL STANDINGS Team
The Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) has sponsored men’s lacrosse since 2001 and features seven schools—Delaware, Drexel, Hofstra, Massachusetts, Penn State, Saint Joseph’s and Towson. Penn State has been a member off the CAA since 2010 when it joined the lacrosse affiliation with Massachusetts. Saint Joseph’s entered the fray in 2011, joining PSU, UMass and founding members Delaware, Drexel, Hofstra and Towson. The Nittany Lions went 1-4 the first season and finished sixth of six teams. Since then, Penn State has put together consecutive second-place showings in 2011 and 2012. The CAA has boasted some of the best men’s lacrosse in the nation. Since earning its NCAA automatic bid in 2003, the CAA has sent 16 teams to the NCAA Championship. Delaware’s 2007 run to the NCAA semfinals was a testament to the CAA’s strength. In the 10-year existence of the confence’s automatic bid, the CAA has had six multi-bid years.

THE CREATOR’S TROPHY 2012 FINAL STANDINGS Team
The Creator’s Trophy was created in 2012 by the three Big Ten schools that sponsor men’s lacrosse. While a Big Ten men’s lacrosse conference does not exist, The Creator’s Trophy honors the rivalries between the schools that play North America’s first sport. Today, Native Americans still refer to lacrosse as “The Creator’s Game.” The trophy is intended to pay homage to the sport’s heritage, promote the budding rivalry of the Big Ten schools and encourage sportsmanship on and off the field of play. The night prior to each of the three games, the home institution will host the vistor for a “rivalry” dinner. The inaugural trophy was awarded to Penn State after its 2-0 record, defeating Michigan, 16-9, and Ohio State, 5-2. If a three-way 1-1 record occurs, the team who last won the title retains the trophy.
Each school is represented by an alumnus: Michigan . . . . . . . . . . . . . Tedd Moon ‘89 Ohio State . . . . . . . . . . . Michael Norton ‘03 Penn State . . . . . . . . . . . Scott McKeon ‘87
