ALEXEI SINTCHINOV Assistant Coach

Coach Sintchinov is entering his eighth year as assistant coach. Sintchinov has an extensive fencing resume and has been a professional coach since 1976. He also has the recognition of being a Master of Sport in Fencing.

Adam Kaszubowski is in his third year at Penn State coaching the Penn State fencing teams. Born in Poland, he earned his master’s degree in physical education with a specialization in fencing from the Academy of Physical Education in Gdansk.

During his international coaching tenure, Sintchinov was the head coach of the Belarus, Egypt, and Tunisia National Teams. In 1991, Sintchinov was named Honored Coach of Belarus for his time with the team. He also served as the head coach of the 2000 Egypt Olympic Team.

Kaszubowski has been involved with fencing for more than 30 years, first as an athlete and then as a coach and referee. As a member of the Polish men’s foil national team, he competed at many national and international competitions. He was a bronze individual and team gold medalist at the 1994 Polish Cadet Championships, as well as a silver team medalist at both the 1996 and 1997 Polish Junior Championships.

Sintchinov was named the USFCA Men’s Team National Assistant Coach of the Year in April of 2021. Sintchinov was a sought after private and club coach from 20042011 before making the move into collegiate coaching, joining the Ohio State Staff in 2011. Sintchinov spent three years in Columbus as an assistant coach, helping guide the program to the 2012 NCAA Championships. Sintchinov studied at the Belarussian State Institute of Physical Culture and Sport, specializing in coaching and teaching.

FENCING

After his tenure with the Polish national team, Kaszubowski was Head Coach for the Egyptian men’s and women’s foil teams from 2013 to 2016. In addition to qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic games, his team also had successes at the African Championships: 1st place in Algiers 2016, Cairo 2015, Cairo 2014 and Cape Town 2013.
