JUSTIN POMAR

ATHLETIC TRAINER

Justin Pomar joined the Penn State men’s basketball staff as the team’s athletic trainer in August 2021.

Pomar works collaboratively with both the sports performance and sports medicine staffs to provide day-to-day and preventive care for the overall well-being and safety of Penn State student-athletes. He works directly with the team physicians in providing diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitation services.

Prior to coming to Happy Valley, Pomar spent four seasons at the University of Idaho where he served the men’s basketball athletic trainer. While responsible for the daily evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of sport-related injuries for men’s basketball student-athletes, he also assisted with the rehabilitation of injuries and did practice and game coverage for Vandal football, women’s soccer, women’s golf, and men’s and women’s tennis.

A 2014 graduate of Iowa State, Pomar received a master’s in sports management from Northern Illinois where he was a graduate assistant in the athletic training office, working with the women’s gymnastics, cross country and baseball teams.

Pomar currently holds a certification in corrective exercise specialist from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
