Bathing with fellow patients from the 4th Aust General Hospital, when they were caught in strong undertow, Body not recovered as at 20 Dec 1918. See depositions of witnesses.

Gosford times 18.12.1919. CALDECOTT â&#x20AC;&#x201C; In loving memory of Private J. V. Caldecott (1964), Who was drowned at Palm Beach on December 10, 1918. So short and sudden was the call, His sudden death surprised us all; Only those who have lost are able to tell, The pain at heart at not saying farewell. Friends may think the wound has healed, But they cannot see the sorrow in our hearts concealed. Inserted by his weeping mother and father, Mary and Edward Caldecott.
