WASTE SERVICES ON THE LONG WEEKENDS

All kerbside waste and recycling services will remain the same over the public holidays. Residents are reminded to place their bins out on the night before their scheduled service day. Woy Landfill & Kincumber Transfer Station will be closed on Good Friday, however will reopen to normal business hours on Saturday 19 April.

FREE SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITY

Explore the wonders of our local rock pools. On Thursday 24 April and Sunday 27 April at Terrigal Haven, Ocean & Coastal Care Initiatives with support from council, are hosting Rock Pool Rambles – a chance to explore the local rock pools. For children 8yrs to adult, the free activity can be booked by calling 0450 990 995. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Shoes must be worn. Times & meeting place given when booking.

Construction of New Railway Underpass on Woy Woy Road at Base of Bulls Hill and Associated Roadworks, Applicant - Gosford City Council. The application has been made for the development consent under the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act 1979. The proposed development is Designated Development due to the impact on SEPP 14 - Coastal Wetlands with concurrence sought from Department of Planning & Infrastructure under clause 7(2) of SEPP 14. The proposed development is Integrated Development under Section 91 of the Environment Planning & Assessment Act 1979 and approval is also sought from Department of Primary Industries (Fishing and Aquaculture). The application is to be determined by the Joint Regional Planning Panel (JRPP). Submissions made in respect of the application will be provided to the JRPP and may be viewed on Council’s website. The application, accompanying documents and environmental impact statement may be inspected during business hours at the Department of Planning, Information Centre, 23-33 Bridge Street, Sydney; Department of Planning, Gosford Office, Level 3, 107 Mann Street Gosford; Council’s Customer Service Counter, Ground Floor, Council Administration Building, 49 Mann Street Gosford and Gosford City Council Service Centres at Erina, Kincumber and Woy Woy, for the period commencing 2 April 2014 up to the close of business on 2 May 2014. During the exhibition period any person may, make a submission in writing to the consent authority. Submissions can also be made online at www.gosford.nsw.gov.au/customer/forms/ ecouncil-online-forms/da-submission/ or in writing to Council’s postal address. Submissions will be made available for viewing on Council’s website. To help the efficiency of the assessment process, no late submissions will be considered. Any person who makes a written objection to the proposal and is dissatisfied with Council’s determination of the application may appeal to the Land and Environment Court in accordance with Section 98 of the Act. If a Commission of Inquiry is held, the determination is final and not subject to appeal under Section 98 of the Act.

AT THE LAST COUNCIL MEETING

Council has agreed to the acquisition of land for an upgrade of Wisemans Ferry Road. The stretch of road, located between Nyah and Howes Roads have been identified for upgrade as part of a road safety audit following a number of recent incidents. The works are part of an upgrade program funded by the NSW Government to implement safety improvements along Wisemans Ferry Road.

Following the recent endorsement of the Gosford City Council Waste Strategy, council will prepare a review of advanced waste technologies, including an analysis of economic, social and environmental factors. Councillors and nominated council staff will visit selected advanced waste technology sites during the review process and will explore the opportunity to apply for grant funding under the NSW Government’s Waste Less, Recycle More initiative.
