Bike, Walk, Run & Enjoy
The Maple City Greenway consists of a 25-mile network of various bicycle and pedestrian trails throughout Goshen that link homes, parks, schools, the library and the downtown area. Fifteen of these trails are described below (also see map on following page).
• Abshire Park Trail, a crushed stone surface, 10 feet wide, connects Pumpkinvine Nature Trail along Rock Run Creek to Monroe Street. Distance: 1.5 miles

• Central City Trail is a brick-edged sidewalk linking Goshen College, Goshen Public Library, Goshen High School, Elkhart County Courthouse and the downtown area. Distance: 2 miles
• Fidler Pond Park Walking/Biking Track, a crushed-stone surface, 8 feet wide, is a walking and biking track that follows the perimeter of Fidler Pond. Distance: 1.5 miles
• Kercher Trail is a concrete surface that is 10 feet wide and connects Kercher Sunrise Orchards to an industrial park and U.S. 33. Distance: 2.5 miles
• Millrace Trail, a crushed-stone surface, 8 feet wide, follows the hydraulic canal and connects Shoup-Parsons Woods, Shanklin Park and the Elkhart County Courthouse. Distance: 2.75 miles
• Monroe Street Trail is a paved surface, 10 feet wide, connecting Goshen High School, Pumpkinvine Nature Trail and Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds. Distance: 1 mile
• Mullet Trail is an aggregate trail that connects Shanklin Park to Mullet Park’s 9-hole disc golf course and Indiana Avenue. Distance: .5 mile
• Ninth Street Trail, a concrete surface, ranging from 8 to 10 feet wide, connects Goshen College at College Avenue with Water Tower Park and Goshen Parks & Recreation Administrative Office, linking to Central City Trail and Goshen High School at Purl Street. Distance: 1 mile
• Northwest Bike Trail, a concrete surface, 10 feet wide, connects Bashor Road (C.R. 30) to Reliance Road (Old C.R. 17), continuing north to U.S. 33 and to Market Centre shopping area. Distance: 2.5 miles
• Plymouth Avenue Trail connects Shanklin Park with Goshen Junior High School over the Elkhart River and continues to Hay Park and Greene Road. Paved surface, 10 feet wide. Distance: 1.6 miles
• Pringle Park Walking Track, a crushed-stone surface, 8 feet wide, is a walking track that follows the perimeter of Pringle Park. Distance: .5 mile
• Pumpkinvine Nature Trail is a crushed-stone surface, 10 feet wide, that runs along Rock Run Creek and Abshire Park, continuing to C.R. 28, connecting to Middlebury and Shipshewana. Distance: 3 miles
• Shoup-Parsons Woods Nature Trail, a crushed-stone surface, 6 feet wide, features a self-guided nature study. Distance: .25 mile
• Wilden Avenue Trail, a paved surface, 8 feet wide, connects MapleHart Trail, Ox Bow County Park and City of Elkhart. Distance: 2.7 miles
• Winona Interurban Trail, a paved surface, 10 feet wide, links Bethany Christian Schools, Waterford Elementary School and Goshen College campus, along with a pedestrian and bicycle path that provides connectivity to the Greencroft retirement center. Distance: 1 mile

Whether your summer fun includes water slides, diving boards, lap swims, open swims, swim lessons, pool parties or just sunbathing, Shanklin Pool is your summer hot spot! Our concession stand is open during public swim hours with a full menu. The pool is open daily May 27–July 30, as well as Saturdays and Sundays through August 27. Opening and closing dates are weather-dependent.
Group Rates
Half-price daily admission is offered to organizations or corporations with a Federal Tax ID Number that have 10 or more guests visiting the pool. Organizations must schedule group visits with the pool manager in advance; call 574-5337616 or the Park Office at 574-534-2901. A Federal Tax ID Number must be presented prior to the visit in order to receive the group rate. Otherwise, the full admission price will be charged—no exceptions. At least one adult per 10 youths is required.
Pool Rental
Saturday and Sunday: 10 am–12 noon, or 7–9 pm; $225 + tax per two-hour time slot, for up to 30 guests.
Family Fun Days!
Each Wednesday, 6–8 pm. Pool games and fun activities. Families* are admitted for $6. *A family consists of parent(s)/guardian(s) and their legal dependents.
Fair Week
From July 21 to 29 when you visit Shanklin Pool you receive 1/2 off your pool admission. Seasonpass holders also receive a free slushie!
Swim Lessons (see next page): Class size is limited, so please register early to ensure availability. Registration is currently being accepted online, at the Park Department Office or at the pool starting May 27.
