The Spirit of
Giving Thanks
T
he last few months, The X-Change has focused on the food side of health; but a major part of Health and Wellness is the mental side. It can directly affect the how, what and why we choose the foods we eat, how we feel, and how we deal with obstacles in our lives. For the next two months, The X-Change will show the importance of “Giving” and how it can directly affect your child’s mental and physical health during the holiday season, as well as throughout the year.

Granted, these are scientific tests to see what or how “giving” affects our bodies, but think about what you complain and worry about in front of your kids. Here are some examples of things your kids and/or family can do together to show the Spirit of Giving: - Visit a Nursing Home - Many nursing home residents do not get any visitors during the holidays. - Visit a children’s ward at a hospital – Bring gifts or just read to the kids - Assist at a Ronald McDonald’s House – Assisting families by cooking dinner - Feed the homeless – Assist in preparing and/or serving food - Collect can goods and food for families – Start or join in with organizations that collect food for families - Collect gifts for kids less fortunate – Start or join in with organizations that collect toys, whether new toys or old Hopefully these ideas will show your family the true meaning of the holidays and the Spirit of Giving. Let us use this time to reach beyond the prayer at dinner, and show others what He has done for us. Ask yourself, “Do I show gratefulness, or give thanks outside of the holidays or church on Sundays?”

- Thinking about giving boosts our immunity; a study was done asking students to think about when they were “loved by others” or were “loving to others” and during this period of time, their antibody level increased. - Listening to others helps reduce the risk of heart attacks, since there is a high correlation with the amount of self- reference (“I”, “me”, “my”) to cardiac arrest. - It can lower blood pressure; when people are able to take a moment and prioritize what is really important and what they are grateful for - Those who maintain a thankful attitude have

Dictionary.com (www.dictionary.com) defines “Giving” as the act of presenting voluntarily, and without expecting compensation. According to this definition, when we volunteer, or donate food, money and/or clothes without wanting anything in return, we are acting in the Spirit of Giving. So, when we instill this Spirit of Giving in our youth, we have given them something that goes far beyond anything tangible or monetary; we have given them a lifestyle that can help them cope with life’s ups and downs. Here are a few examples of what the Spirit of Giving can do for us:
a lower risk of several disorders, including depression, phobias, bulimia and alcoholism. - The ability to lift one’s mood by simply brightening someone else’s day. A simple email, text message, phone call, or a hand written letter.

Traditionally, we spend the holiday season with family gathered around a golden brown turkey with all the trimmings, warm pies, cakes, casseroles, candied yams, dressing and our all time favorite, macaroni and cheese. The kids sit at the kiddies table, anxiously awaiting dinner to be over so they can start in on the fresh baked cookies that are sitting on the kitchen counter cooling. We offer up a prayer to God for His many blessings and express how grateful we are to Him, and usually we send out a blessing for those who are less fortunate. Yet, many of us do not understand the profound impact this seemingly small act has on our mind and body. Scientists have proven that when we give to others, we actually give back to ourselves. I call it the Spirit of Giving.

I PLAN TO FAIL!!!! HOW TO FAIL IN 2012
new year is almost here. And I must say I have seen my share of successes this year. I’ve made a number of new acquaintances. I’ve had many new doors of opportunity open for me. I have accomplished things I never thought I could. I guess you could say, that in some ways, this has been a banner year for me. Of course I have faced my share of downs this year. But those aren’t all that important right now. While reflecting on and being grateful for my successes recently, I was sitting in a book store. For some reason while I was sitting there sipping on a peppermint white mocha, I had a paradoxical moment. I decided that the labor to achieve success was no longer worth it. In that instant I said to myself, success is overrated. So I decided to change my flow and do everything in my power to no longer succeed. As I sat there I thought, “Perhaps there are others out there who are tired of being successful too.” So I decided to share 25 personal and professional tips to help all of us who fall in this category, fail this coming year and from now on. 1) Don’t be friendly. Friends have the potential to walk away from you. Who needs that drama? Then again, they can be great allies in tough times. But who cares? Right? 2) Avoid building your personal and professional network. One of the best ways to limit your “net worth” is to limit your “network”. 3) Make sure you are disloyal. Loyalty to people is soooo outdated. These days, it’s every man for himself. 4) Absolutely do not prepare for future opportunities. This assures that opportunities will always pass you by. 5) Blame others for EVERYTHING! So what if they were your poor choices that got you in this condition. This assures that you will never take responsibility for changing your present situation and failure is indeed eminent. 6) NEVER forgive anyone that has hurt you. Walk around carrying anger and bitterness for the rest of your life. Of course your lifetime will be a bit shorter because bitterness only kills the person who carries it. 7) Have a vision but do nothing with it. As long as your plans remain good intentions you have already failed because you didn’t try. 8) If you do start something, give up half way through. Starting but not finishing is like having a car with only 3 tires. You won’t go very far.
8
www .G ospel NOW. net
9) Procrastinate- Always put off for next week the things that must be done today. And come up with the best excuses in the world why you didn’t do them.. If necessary see tip # 21. 10) Avoid hard work at all costs- Pawn it off on someone else… or just don’t do it at all. 11) Get rid of all trusted confidants and wise advisors immediately. They can really get on your nerves when they get behind you and start pushing you forward. 12) Why be kind and compassionate when you can be selfish and self centered? Life is all about YOUR happiness and well-being right? Say this with me… “NO ONE ELSE MATTERS…IT’S ALL ABOUT ME!” 13) Reminisce on all the bad decisions you ever made in your life and repeat them over and over again. 14) Constantly remind yourself of those mistakes and beat yourself up over them. People may mess this up by reminding you of your potential. IGNORE THEM and stay stuck in your past. 15) While you are at it, throw the biggest pity party you can. Invite everyone to join you in your pity party. Afterall what good is misery without company. 16) Doubt yourself and God. Obeying Him means you can’t fail. So the smallest amount of doubt will help you to avoid obeying him and assures your failure. 17) Don’t waste time praying! I mean if you do pray it just might work…and if you’re planning to fail, you don’t want to risk that do you?? 18) Your health doesn’t matter so pay no attention to it. Ignore all ads that say: Smoking is bad for you; Don’t drink and drive, Don’t do drugs; Eat healthy; Exercise and anything of the sort. 19) Burn every bridge and forget all the bridges that brought you over. Who needs people anyway? 20) Forget about having a financial plan. Spend everything you have so you have nothing left to fulfill your life dreams. Impulse buying is your friend. (especially if things are “on sale”) 21) Honesty is not the best policy… LIE LIE LIE!!! This assures your failure because people will not trust you. 22) Be a hater and be as judgmental as possible. Jealousy and judgement are the order of the day. At least in your own eyes you’re better than everyone else. That has to
count for something. 23) Never be the student. Always be the teacher. If you aren’t teachable you can never grow. Growth means progress and that is what we are trying to avoid here. 24) If there is gossip to be shared make sure you spread it as far as you can as fast as you can. DO NOT WORRY ABOUT WHETHER IT’S TRUE OR NOT. Facebook is a phenomenal way to do this. Just post it on your wall and watch peoples character be destroyed at your hands. If Facebook doesn’t work the telephone is time tested and proven to work. 25) DO NOT LOVE YOURSELF!!! So what you are valuable and special. You don’t need to reflect on that. You’re trying to fail here. Remember????? This plan only works for those want to fail in the coming year. I guess, for the rest of you who actually want to succeed in 2012 and beyond, you should do the opposite of these steps to experience success and greatness beyond your wildest dreams. Wait wait wait! I just realized something. If you follow this plan and you actually fail, you were successful at something which nullifies all the tips above. I guess if you are going to go through all the steps to fail, you might as well just go ahead and use that energy to succeed. You only live once, MAKE IT COUNT!Farris Long "Traveling Light and Making It Count"

The Gift
A
of Presence
s a child, I vividly remember flipping through the pages of Christmas wish books, claiming toys and recreational items; ripping out pages, folding the corners of pages, and marking up pages to indicate my preference for presents to be placed under the Christmas tree. Every commercial on television, advertising a new toy or game drew me to the television screen with an excited slapping of the screen to claim the toy as my own. Having not yet matured to the posture of proper placement and perspective; the holidays were about what I would receive as a present, to the degree that the giver often didn’t matter, as long as the present was the epitome of my request. I didn’t care if Santa Claus, his elves or his reindeer delivered it, as long as the gift was right. I didn’t place much emphasis on the who; it was the what, that carried the greatest appeal. As I watched news reports of the most recent holiday shopping frenzy, black Friday was appropriately named by some, “black and blue Friday.” To my amazement, the behavior of adults clamoring for stuff, clobbering one another in the meantime, appeared to be the norm from coast to coast. Generally speaking, it looks as though many of us are missing the point. John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son.” Giving is the predominant theme of the holiday season, but what is given carries an even greater emphasis. God gave to humanity, the gift of presence. He gave Himself, in the physical person of Jesus Christ. In John 1:1, the scripture states “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Progressing to John 1:14, the bible tells us that “the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us.” God, the creator of all that is, could have given absolutely anything; but the most precious, and most valuable gift of all, was that of presence. He could have given ANY thing in the world, but the most significant gift was Himself. He knew that His wisdom and strength, His peace and His love, His power and His presence, would outweigh and outlast any tangible
present. He knew that the things which are seen are temporal, and that the material would give way to atmospheric conditions; rusting, fading, and corrupting in the process of time. He knew that the very thing we needed the most, wasn’t a thing at all. He wrapped Himself in the delicate tissues of human flesh and presented Himself through the womb of a virgin to a humanity who would have trouble recognizing Him, and even more trouble receiving Him. Much like today, we have trouble recognizing the greatest gifts, and even more difficulty receiving what is intangible and immaterial. If it didn’t cost a certain amount, come from a certain retailer, originate from a particular brand, or carry a particular status, we often stamp it with insignificance and disregard. What would happen if we placed value where it really belongs? What would the world be like if we understood the power of presence? What would Christmas feel like if we gave to one another, the gift of presence? Something that rarely costs more than a little time, attention, and affection. Something that says, “you matter, and I am interested in your life.” Something that says, “I’m focusing on where I am, and who I am with.” Something that causes your emotions and your entire being to be centralized on the experience, existing and abiding only in that moment. Something that endures time and tests. Something that lasts longer than Christmas day. Something that lingers with us into the new year, supporting us, strengthening us, affirming us, and validating us. You are more precious and priceless, than any purchase you could ever make. Be the strength in someone’s broken place. Be the breeze in someone’s meadow. Be the light in someone’s darkness. BE PRESENT! Give to your friends and family this holiday season, something they can hang onto for a lifetime, give the gift of presence. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Apostolic Living:
Apostle Dannie Williams
By Chris Walker
THE FRUIT OF THE APOSTOLIC lifestyle
is excitement, fulfillment - and warfare. Since the very nature of the apostolic is warring unto breakthrough, learning the art of war is a given. Apostolic and prophetic believers have a warring grace that pursues and possesses a thing. These believers also have an anointing that commands spiritual enemies to bow, declares hard heavens must open, and takes authority over every hindrance to preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. In short, apostolic believers get prayers answered.
G
ospel Now caught up with Apostle Dannie Williams to discuss what characterizes the prayer lives of apostolic believers, why prophetic intercession is so important and other critical prayer strategies for this hour. As an Apostle of Faith, Apostle Dannie Williams has been serving God for 34 years. He is the Senior Pastor of Citadel of Hope Ministries in Leesburg, Florida along with his wife, Dr. Precious; and the Overseer of Kingdom Covenant Fellowship, an association of covenant churches. Good afternoon Apostle and how are you on this Lord’s Day? I am blessed and highly favored of the great god. I am walking in love and staying in faith. You are the Senior Pastor of a great church in Leesburg, Florida, Citadel of Hope Ministries. How long have you been there, tell us briefly about the vision? I have had the privilege of pastoring the great Citadel for 21 years. Our vision is to be a

beacon of an apostolic center, with an emphasis on spiritual renewal, discipleship, economic empowerment, and holistic living. We have been called to touch generations, take cities, and transform nations by the Holy Spirit. You are considered one of the Fathers of the Faith in Central Florida and my wife and I have the great privilege of being apart of your apostolic covering. Many people may be reading this article and asking the question, “What is apostolic living or the Apostolic?” Apostolic means much, to many people. It can be broad and complex, or narrow and simplistic. I choose to follow the belief system of narrow and simplistic. Apostolic simply means a called people or person, commissioned by the Holy Spirit to demonstrate the New Testament’s principles, practices, and power in a contemporary culture. Basically, that means proclamation with demonstration. That is to
say, we must be and see what we preach. Prayer is a very important part of our walk and connection with God. What characterizes the prayer lives of apostolic believers? I believe that prayer encompasses five graces. There is the Teacher’s grace of prayer, where we learn to pray, of which most believers achieve. There is the Pastor’s grace of prayer, where we tend to focus on ourselves and our need. Too many believers get stuck at this grace and go no further. There is the Evangelist’s grace of prayer, where we pray for the lost and missions. Not many believers get to consistency at this level. Then there is the Prophet’s grace of prayer, where we pray with accuracy the mind of God for current situations or needs. Finally, there is the Apostle’s grace of prayer, where we pray with the divine authority of God without doubt or intimidation. This is where Elijah prayed from and lived in. Very few believers operate in this level of prayer. What impact does prayer coming out of an apostolic church have on the region where that church has been established? When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. Proverbs 29:2 When true apostolic churches govern a region through prayer and New Testament principles, the people of that region are going to dwell in a peace paradigm. Many are not aware that they are not living under the covering of a political system, but the covering of an apostolic house in that region. Why does spiritual warfare seem to go hand-in-hand with apostolic churches? I don’t think spiritual warfare is unique to apostolic ministries. I think that apostolic ministries represent a different paradigm, and therefore their warfare appears different. Much like some diseases are unique to certain cultures. I will say that apostolic ministries are often criticized and crucified by those who don’t understand the Kingdom of God; but, these apostolic ministries are then celebrated when they get breakthroughs for themselves
and the region of their assignment. You mentioned that sometimes a church is fighting for its “name” what did you mean by that? Names are very significant in the spirit realm. What the enemy does is to attack the name of a ministry for the purpose of destroying the integrity of the name of that ministry. For example, if a ministry is named life refuge, the enemy will attempt to bring about a season of much death and sickness to that ministry to demean the essence of the name “life.” That is why it is very important that we hear God for His name for our ministry, and summon the angelic hosts to war against the enemy of that name. When it comes to the church in general, do you sense a spiritual change in seasons? I don’t know if it is a changing of the guard, but I believe there is a change of focus. When there is a changing of the guards; that implies guarding that which is, even if that which is has lost its relevance. We are in a unique season in the kingdom. Our greatest need now is watchmen that can discern and sound the alarm against the forces of deception. It is these forces that will be the greatest contention against the Body of Christ going forth, until the master returns. I would say to all believers to honestly pray two things as often as you can remember: “Lord, don’t allow me to be deceived and Lord, don’t allow me to deceive anyone.” Grace and peace! Join Apostle Dannie & Dr. Precious Williams and Citadel of Hope Ministries at 2795 South Street in Leesburg, Florida weekly: Sundays at 10am, Tuesdays at 7pm, and Wednesdays at 7pm. Tips
For Coping
he holiday season, which begins for most Americans with Thanksgiving and continues through New Year's Day, often brings unwelcome guests — stress and depression. And it's no wonder. In an effort to pull off a perfect holiday, you might find yourself facing a dizzying array of demands — parties, shopping, baking, cleaning and entertaining, to name a few. When stress is at its peak, it's hard to stop and regroup. Try to prevent stress and depression in the first place, especially if the holidays have taken an emotional toll on you in the past.

Set aside differences. Try to accept family members and friends as they are, even if they don't live up to all your expectations. Set aside grievances until a more appropriate time for discussion. And be understanding if others get upset or distressed when something goes awry. Chances are they're feeling the effects of holiday stress and depression too.
9.
5.
Stick to a budget. Before you go gift and food shopping, decide how much money you can afford to spend. Then, stick to your budget. Don't try

Seek professional help if you need it. Despite your best efforts, you may find yourself feeling persistently sad or anxious, plagued by physical
Acknowledge your feelings. If someone close to you has recently died or you can't be with loved ones, realize that it's normal to feel sadness and grief. It's OK to take time to cry or express your feelings. You can't force yourself to be happy just because it's the holiday season. Reach out. If you feel lonely or isolated, seek out community, religious or other social events. They can offer support and companionship. Volunteering your time to help others also is a good way to lift your spirits and broaden your friendships. Be realistic. The holidays don't have to be perfect or just like last year. As families change and grow, traditions and rituals often change as well. Choose a few to hold on to, and be open to creating new ones. For example, if your adult children can't come to your house, find new ways to celebrate together, such as sharing pictures, emails or videotapes.

to buy happiness with an avalanche of gifts. Try these alternatives: Donate to a charity in someone's name, give homemade gifts or start a family gift exchange.

Plan ahead. Set aside specific days for shopping, baking, visiting friends and other activities. Plan your menus and then make your shopping list. That'll help prevent last-minute scrambling to buy forgotten ingredients. And make sure to line up help for party prep and cleanup.
Learn to say no. Saying yes when you should say no can leave you feeling resentful and overwhelmed. Friends and colleagues will understand if you can't participate in every project or activity. If it's not possible to say no when your boss asks you to work overtime, try to remove something else from your agenda to make up for the lost time. Don't abandon healthy habits. Don't let the holidays become a free-for-all. Overindulgence only adds to your stress and guilt. Have a healthy snack before holiday parties so that you don't go overboard on sweets, cheese or drinks. Continue to get plenty of sleep and physical activity. Take a breather. Make some time for yourself. Spending just 15 minutes alone, without distractions, may refresh you enough to handle everything you need to do. Take a walk at night and stargaze. Listen to soothing music. Find something that reduces stress by clearing your mind, slowing your breathing and restoring inner calm.

Ronald Vierling’s Clementine Camille trilogy of novels spans the love relationship years of Clementine Brown, an african-american young woman, and tyler Roberts, a Caucasianamerican young man, from their meeting as high school students through their maturity, when the inevitability of death threatens to destroy the survivor. along the way, the novels chronicle both the ways in which the couple deal with the intrusive facts of american racism as well as, more important, their remarkably supportive families and friends, who contribute to the couples’ ability to grow beyond prejudice and simply learn to love one another.

Lights, Camera, Action!! By Daniel D. Smith
f you live in Orlando, then you know that we live in one of the world’s most entertainment and mediacentered cities outside of L.A. and New York. With all of the hype centered around the larger media outlets (Universal Studios and Disney), one would not readily know that there is an emerging Christian film and media outlet right in Orlando, Florida impacting the Central Florida community. That company is called, “My Christian Films.” I had the pleasure of sitting down with Marty Jean-Louis (Founder and President of My Christian Films), who is one of the new film industry moguls in this budding Christian film industry. Marty, how did you get your start in the film industr y and as they say, what was your motivation? Believe it or not, my motivation started at an early age of about 8 years old. I was always fascinated with cameras and the operation of them. So, when I was 8 years old, I began to learn how to operate cameras at my dad’s church (who is a pastor), and then I would film scenes of people on the camera at my dad’s church in New York. Then, one day my brother and I decided to make a few short films of the church members and show it to my dad. It was fun and I got a lot of experience then. As time progressed, my interest grew and I eventually attended Brooklyn College and studied film making there. Where did all of this experience lead you? Well, I started working for the United Nations in New York as a photographer and Camera Operator. It was a great experience for me because I met and saw a lot of world leaders and officials. After I served in the United States Air Force, I decided to move to Central Florida and continue my passion in the film industry.
We have programming that is age-specific, and some shows are gender-geared. For instance, Kraze is a program specific to our youth and young adults. “Let’s Chat,” is a Christian-based program that is something like “The View” that is geared toward women. [There is] also, Sound Stage, Top 10 Gospel Count Down. At my Christian Films we have a lot of different programs that are geared to various viewers and families. We can be seen on CTN Lifestyle, NRB Network (Through DirectTV Channel 378/ Internet), Punch TV, Glory Network, Redemption TV (Satellite Africa/Parts of Asia/Parts of Europe), and Doers TV Internet base (worldwide). Where do you see “My Christian Films” in the next five years? I see God directing this network in producing more family-friendly content in movies, TV shows, documentaries and other faith-based content to spread the gospel in other ways than just messages preached from the pulpit (which is still very important and relevant, if I may add). Lastly, speaking of which, is there a means and interest to show and broadcast pastors’ church sermons and services; and if so, how may they contact you? You know we are always interested in broadcasting good quality Christian programs, as well as assist in bringing church services up to standards for broadcasting. So the answer is yes. Anyone interested in broadcast opportunities may contact me at marty@mychristianfilms.org.
Why did you decide to take the Christian route in producing films? Well, as I viewed programs on TV, I noticed the content was not that great for family viewing. It was, and is very secular in nature. So, after much prayer I was inspired by the Holy Spirit to start a network that was more family and Christianfocused. That’s where the name came from, My Christian Films…meaning our personal Christian media, programming for each one of us. Describe some of the programming on your network, and tell us where can it be viewed?

The Gift Of
Healing Hands
T
he average person strives to live a comfortable, stress-free, and pain-free life. However, even with precautions and strategic planning, it is sometimes difficult to avoid incidences, accidents, and mishaps that result in pain. Sleeping in an awkward position, exercising, and even horse-playing are all common situations that could easily leave a person in pain afterwards. The fact that we sometimes experience pain doesn’t necessarily mean that we have done something wrong, as much as it means we all share common vulnerabilities called muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissues. Some of the most common pains experienced on average, include neck and back pain, and headaches. These are pains that may often be treated with alternative measures, instead of medications and surgeries. Chiropractic care is one of the most common alternatives to pain treatment, and is often sought out by individuals looking for relief from accidents, sports injuries, muscle pains, headaches, back and neck pains. More than 20 million Americans visit a chiropractor annually. Chiropractors utilize their hands to manipulate the spine into proper alignment. Theory holds that a body in proper alignment will heal itself. One of Central Florida’s most compassionate and skilled chiropractors sits down with Gospel Now to enlighten us on chiropractic care, healing hands, and the amazing body that has the potential to heal itself.
What or who is responsible for your decision to become a Doctor of Chiropractic?
Dr. Thuy Nguyen, D.c. 26
Doctor of Chiropractic
At an early age, I developed a strong desire to learn holistic health care approaches after my younger sister was diagnosed with Scoliosis. I saw firsthand the benefits she received from chiropractic
care. In college, I shadowed a Doctor of Chiropractic and realized that helping people get well through holistic methods was my passion.
What makes your profession unique in comparison to other health and wellness professions?
Chiropractic is unique because it utilizes specific adjusting techniques to correct spinal and joint misalignments that may interfere with the nervous system.
Explain what the academic and professional journey has been like to get you to where you are today.
My academic journey was very challenging, yet rewarding. I spent numerous hours studying the anatomy and physiology of the human body. As I started my professional career, I felt greatly fulfilled to finally utilize the adjusting techniques I had learned, and to see patients feeling better and enjoying life to the fullest.
What symptoms would a typical patient experience in order for them to be a candidate for chiropractic care? The symptoms a typical patient may experience include back pain, neck pain, and headaches. However, a Doctor of Chiropractic will also treat patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system involving the muscles, ligaments, and joints.
We often hear people talking about visiting a chiropractic doctor for an adjustment. What does this procedure entail, and why is it important to the patient’s recovery process?
Chiropractic adjustments are safe and painless techniques that correct spinal and joint misalignments, also referred to as subluxations. A Chiropractor will utilize one of many adjusting techniques to relieve pain and improve your body’s overall physical function for recovery.
What impact does a well-adjusted spine have on our overall health?
R
elax
With
A well-adjusted spine can help you feel better, move with greater mobility, and stay healthier and pain-free throughout your lifetime.
What is the correlation between pain, and our nervous, muscular, and skeletal systems?
Our spine houses the spinal cord, which has nerves branching off of it. The nerves connect from the spinal cord to all of the organs and muscles in our body. When the nerves are affected, whether by compression by discs or inflammation from muscles, it can cause pain such as a dull ache, sharp pain, burning pain, and numbness and tingling.
Are prescriptions or medications typically prescribed through chiropractic care?
Since Chiropractic care is a holistic and natural method of health care, Chiropractic Physicians do not prescribe medication.
Is there anything that the average person could do at home to promote good muscular and skeletal health?
To promote good muscular and skeletal health at home, I advise practicing good posture while sitting or standing, stretching to improve flexibility, eating a healthy diet, and drinking plenty of water to keep your muscles hydrated.
Describe some of the typical services offered at your practice. Services offered at our practice include Chiropractic adjustments, acupuncture, massage therapy, electrical muscle stimulation, interferential stimulation, rehabilitation, and ultrasound.
Where is your practice located, and what can we expect to experience when we visit?
The Nguyen Wellness Center is located at 2716 Rew Circle Suite 100, Ocoee, FL 34761. Upon your first visit, you can expect a warm greeting, followed by a thorough spinal examination with a Chiropractic Physician. An evaluation and knowledge sharing session will then be conducted for treatment.

erry Christmas everyone, the gift giving time is upon us again and it’s time to start shopping! Well, I have put together a holiday gift guide for all of the makeup lovers and addicts in your life. These gift ideas are popular, and every makeup lover absolutely has to have them. Follow this guide and I guarantee your makeup addict will be celebrating all through Christmas day and the New Year!
1 st Makeup Brushes
Every woman that loves makeup has to have a set of makeup brushes; from foundation brushes to eyeshadow brushes, it’s the perfect gift. A brush set is essential to any woman’s makeup kit. Makeup brushes are not just for professionals anymore; everyday women are stepping up their makeup routine, and having the tools to create a flawless look is what many women desire to do. This gift will have your special girl feeling like a million bucks and excited all day long, knowing she has everything she needs to look great Christmas day!
2 nd Makeup Cases
Well, a glamour girl has to have somewhere to store all of her makeup goodies; and a makeup case is where you can’t go wrong. Seeing makeup all over the place is chaotic and crazy; so how about a place to store everything from eyeshadows, to foundations and lipstick? A large carry-all makeup case is a girl’s dream. I know I wouldn’t mind another one. Don’t want to give a makeup case, well how about a medium to large size makeup bag? This can be a bit more portable, and all of her things will be organized and put in its place.
3 rd Makeup Books
This is my favorite gift to give, especially to the teens who are ready to start wearing makeup, but don’t quite know what they’re doing. Makeup books are the best. They are usually easy reads with pictures and step-by-step directions on how to create the most simple to the more dramatic looks. Barnes & Noble has them, and even department stores around this time of year. Professionals who are looking to “brush up” on their makeup skills will love this gift as well! And lastly, the best gift you can give the makeup queen in your life is Lipstick Mixtapes LM lipstix. Lipstick Mixtapes just launched its own line of 9 different beautiful full color shades. The lipsticks range from a soft nude lipstick to a perfect bold holiday red lipstick. This is one gift that your makeup girl will certainly want to get, so don’t disappoint her. Order online at www.lipstickmixtapes.com Well, there you have it; your gift-giving guide for the holidays. I hope you find all of your gifts and that you also have something special under the tree.

TAX TIPS- 2012 Ready, Set, Prepared Freedom Financial Instituion - Dawn Higgs
Wow...
did you know Tax Season 2012 is fast approaching? Are you Ready, are you Set? Let’s make sure you are preparing properly for a great season. We at Freedom Financial Institution want to share with you some very important “tax tips” to make sure you have time to prepare. With proper planning and preparation, there will be no delays in filing your taxes, and no exclusions of any credits and/or deductions you may be eligible for in the new year.
#1:
prepared.
Update your personal information: Make sure before the end of the year 2011 that your current and past employers have your correct name, social security number, and address before W-2s are
-Many taxpayers are “delayed” in filing their taxes because they’ve moved and they are waiting on the W-2s to be forwarded to the correct address. Also, many people get married and change their names; remember, the IRS acknowledges what’s currently on your social security card, so if you go by your married name it must also be changed with the SSA (Social Security Administration).
#2:
Excluding Income. Many taxpayers received early distributions from their 401Ks, 403Bs, pensions, etc. You should receive a tax form 1099- R at the end or beginning of the year. Please bring these forms along with all W-2s at the time you file your taxes. This income must be included with your earned income. Please consult your tax advisor, or before you decide to take early distributions.
#3:
Filing Status Help. Many people have been getting this area confused. Let me break down each filing status for you in detail. Standard deductions have increased for 2011 taxpayers. SingleStandard Ded. $5,950 (unmarried, no qualifying person/child) HOH- Standard Ded. $8,700 (unmarried, with qualifying dependent, and you must have paid more than 50% of the cost to maintain your home. HOH status isn’t available to those who are married, living in the same household. If your spouse lived with you any of the last 6 or 7 months of the year, and you are not legally separated, you don’t qualify to file HOH.
MFJ- Standard Ded. $11,900 MFS- Standard Ded. $5,950 (Note: Couples may lose certain credits when filing MFS) Freedom Financial Institution- offers year-round tax services. Sports
Season’s It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! If you, like many others, look forward to the Christmas Day NBA match-ups, then you’re celebrating along with many of the rest of us. With a tentative labor deal in place, the ball bounces again on Christmas Day in arenas around the country. Whether your game of choice is the Celtics vs. Knicks, Heat vs. Mavericks, or Bulls vs. Lakers; it’s sure to be a showdown. Two months after the originally scheduled NBA season opening date, NBA fans are on “go” as the tipoff buzzer is about to sound. Orlando Magic fans and area businesses will only need to wait until the day after Christmas for the lights to go up in “O-town.” The Magic vs. Rockets season opener at Orlando’s AMWAY Center on December 26th is great news, for the season that almost wasn’t. The 66-game season means the pace will be grueling, training camps and pre-season will be challenging; but optimistically, balls will be bouncing. Best wishes to our Orlando Magic and Season’s Greetings to all.

Our Team The
Haitian Advancement Through Education & Sports When The Global Haitian Advancement Through Education & Sports (GHATES) started back in 2010, we wanted to motivate and inspire the youth in Haiti through Education & Sports. Little did we know, not only would we have a profound impact in Haiti, but also in Orlando. Over the past 2 years, we have done just that; we have impacted over 300 youth in Jeremie, Haiti through our basketball and soccer tournaments, track & field, and mentorship summit. We have also mentored over 50 youth here in Orlando. (Basketball Orientation camp) We have met many people and organizations in the Orlando community with similar vision and passion for Haiti and its people. While each of them may have chosen a different medium to help Haiti, their impacts have been felt by the Haitian people. On January 12, 2011, District 6 Commissioner Samuel B. Ings and the Global Haitian Advancement Through Education and Sports (GHATES) held the Remembering Haiti - the Earthquake at City Hall; a commemorative event that brought awareness to the devastation and the needs of Haiti, while celebrating the undying spirit of its people and the selfless acts by the international community.
Thereafter, GHATES collaborated with the ZORA Neale Hurston Festival to commemorate the one year anniversary of the Haiti earthquake that featured Haitian artists from Haiti to exhibit and sell their artwork at this world renowned arts, humanities and cultural event. GHATES has collected and distributed over 5000 pieces of clothing, shoes and school supplies through the Cover My Back (CMB) project. The 2011 CMB project was a viable partnership with the Orlando Fire Department, Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and the Rosen Centre Hotel. On May 18th, GHATES and ACHEFENA (a local Haitian organization) joined forces to honor Haiti’s past, present, and future by celebrating Haitian Flag Day at the Central Florida Fair & Expo Park, where thousands gathered in the spirit of 38
www .G ospel NOW. net
solidarity to enjoy various cultural food, music and dance festivities. GHATES is forever grateful to executives, doctors and nurses of MD Anderson Orlando for its superb care of Ginel Thermosy since June 2010. Ginel was brought to Orlando from Haiti after a student from UCF, Anicka Merick went to Haiti on a mission trip and found him on the brink of death. Without Anicka and MD Anderson’s intervention, Ginel would not be with us today, as he was given no more than a few weeks to live in June 2010. MD Anderson has covered all medical expenses related to Ginel’s care and GHATES members have been taking care of Ginel’s everyday needs without any public assistance since his arrival here in Orlando over one year ago. Despite the many challenges Ginel has faced this year, his parents were able to come to Orlando for the first time to visit with him, since he was brought from Haiti over a year ago for
dire medical treatment. (Ginel and parents @ SeaWorld) On behalf of GHATES members, friends, and the hundreds of youth that our organization has helped in Haiti and Central Florida, we thank Mert Smith and the Gospel NOW staff for this amazing opportunity to share with its readers the many moments that we have encountered as an organization. We also thank every person that has taken the time to read our articles each month and those who continue to support us. As we look forward to 2012, we are more excited than ever to continue our work with the youth in Haiti and Central Florida. Your support is greatly appreciated as we need your help to continue our efforts in Haiti and here locally. The difference we are making in the lives of young people today through education & sports is a worthy investment and will definitely pay off. Please send your donations to: Global Haitian Advancement Through Education & Sports (GHATES), Inc. P.O. Box 683845, Orlando, FL 32868 If you have any questions, please contact: Marc Jean Louis (321) 662-3256 or email Info@ghates.org www.facebook.com/ghates2010 Your donations are tax deductible to the fullest allowable by the IRS.
