FRESH APPROACH DRIVES DOORSTEP DELIVERIES
“Before Covid, we were making 3,000 deliveries each day, but that changed overnight. So, within 48 hours, we rapidly reconfigured our operations to save jobs and our business. We used our experience and well-established processes and put new ways of working into practice to ensure children, the vulnerable, the elderly and those self-isolating could continue to receive nutritious food during the crisis. We worked at lightning speed to set up an e-commerce site, this enabled people to order food directly from us to be delivered to their door.
When the Covid lock-down first took hold in March, Fresh Pastures, a distribution business that delivers morning goods to schools and local authorities across Tees Valley, lost 97 per cent of its work overnight. But local entrepreneur and managing director, Dawn Carney, would not let this destroy the business. Here, Dawn tells us about their journey, how her team has helped them not only to survive but thrive and why they are super excited about what’s next.
Now schools are back, we continue to support doorstep deliveries and businesses. We have also extended the products available. Excitingly, we have launched a brand-new food delivery service – Luxury Larder, which supplies award-winning products directly to homes across the North of England.
