PA STATUS:

Some bulls will have a footnote stating their PA status. PA is a genetic condition that would only impact a purebred Charolais mating. It has no impact for commercial bull buyers. Only a handful of bulls were selected for DNA testing, the remaining bulls do not have PA listed and sell with an unknown status.

Dear Friends,

Welcome to our 7th Annual Production Sale. We hope this catalog finds you doing well, the weather favorable, and you are optimistic about the future of the cattle industry. Before we say more, first we want to say thank you for your continued dedication to using the 8S genetics to advance your beef herds. We look forward to continuing to provide you with excellent breeding bulls and replacement females now and in the years to come. If this is your first time looking at the 8 Story Farms program, thank you for your time and your interest.

As always, we will bring a great group of bulls for your selection, and a few select open heifers right out of our own replacement pen. You will find the majority of the bulls and heifers are from tried-andtrue sires. They have been proven in our herd and/or the Charolais industry as a whole. There will be a large sire group of bulls from the Marksman line this year, many of which are closely related. This is a great opportunity for those who need multiple bulls to put together some like genetics. Marksman has proven himself to be capable working on heifers and also putting on the pounds while maintaining a desirable phenotype.

The catalog layout is similar to past years, but I will highlight one notable change. The bulls are sorted by service sire, but this year we did not separate out the older coming 2-year old bulls from the long yearlings. You will find the older bulls intermixed in the catalog with a ribbon denoting them as “Age Advanced”.

It is certainly an exciting time to be in the beef business, and we hope that you have profited from the record prices. While we’ll enjoy this good run, we know the cattle market will eventually cycle. Now is the right time to make the investments in better genetics to keep you profitable when things cycle the other direction. We feel the Charolais advantage will be highly sought after as the herd numbers continue to decline. When feeders want to feed longer and get them bigger at finish, the Charolais breed will do that like none other.

As you review this catalog feel free to reach out with any questions on the sale offering, or just call and say hello! We always enjoy hearing from you and talking about cows. Again, thank you for your interest in our program and we look forward to seeing you on March 22nd.

Thanks, Austin, Courtney, Xander, Axton, Aubrey, & Axle

MCE: Calving Ease Maternal (A higher value indicates greater calving ease with a sire’s daughters)
