COLLEGE OF HEALTH & BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES
The College of Health and Behavioral Sciences (CHBS) is home to the departments of Communication Sciences and Disorders; Exercise and Sport Science; Health Sciences; Military Science and Leadership; Nutrition and Family Sciences; Occupational Therapy; Physical Therapy; Psychology and Counseling; and the School of Nursing.
UCA has expanded the facilities of the CHBS through the completion of the Integrated Health Sciences Building. Renovations for the current Doyne Health Sciences building, such as updated classrooms and new lab spaces, are slated to begin in the fall of 2021.
HIGHLIGHTS
◊ CHBS students offered telehealth services in dietetics, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology and speech-language pathology to accommodate social distancing measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
◊ Femina Varghese, psychology professor, was named a Fellow of the Society of Counseling Psychology.
◊ Charles Hervey, exercise and sport science clinical instructor, won the Andrew H. Lewis Diversity
Advancement Award from SHAPE America.
◊ Faculty from the Department of Physical Therapy received nationwide recognition, including the 2020 Education Excellence Award by the APTA, Academy of Pelvic Health and the 2021 Eleanor J. Carlin Award for Excellence in Academic Teaching.
◊ Rebecca Luong, clinical instructor of nutrition and family sciences, won the American Association of
Family and Consumer Sciences 2021 New Achiever
Award.
◊ Keiyanna Fisher ’20 was runner up in the 2020
Infographic Competition at the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
