CHOWDHARI CENTER
The Center brings the USF Golf program a long way - from not having any locker rooms and storing golf bags in trunks of cars to a country-club-like home that will help student-athletes hone their game and provide a huge boost for recruiting.
USF’s aggressive effort to transform its athletics landscape took another step forward in September 2012 with the opening of the Shaukat and Antonina Chowdhari Golf Center. Located at the USF Golf course, the new 5,040 square-foot facility features a 22-foot-wide dual hitting bay that allows golfers to hit directly onto the driving range, a short-game facility, state-of-the-art video analysis equipment, a multi-purpose fitness center, locker rooms for the men’s and women’s golf teams, coaches’ offices, and a team lounge. The center was made possible through a gift of $1.4 million from Shaukat Chowdhari, M.D., and Antonina Chowdhari, M.D., of Tampa. Owners of the University Pain Management Center, the Chowdharis’ have also made philanthropic investments in the USF Honors College and USF College of Medicine. Dr. Shaukat Chowdhari serves on the USF Foundation Board of Directors and the USF:Unstoppable Campaign Cabinet for the College of Medicine. “This is one way for us to say thanks to USF for letting our family be involved with this kind of philanthropic situation not only in medicine and academia, but also athletics,” Dr. Shaukat Chowdhari said when the Center was first opened to the men’s and women’s golf teams. “The Chowdharis’ generous gift will allow USF to provide world-class facilities to its student-athletes and to recruit the best and brightest golfers in the nation to our campus,” USF President Judy Genshaft said. “This new facility will allow us to be more competitive and sets a standard of excellence for our students which they carry forward.””

Steve Bradley
Head Coach | 3rd season | Florida, 1999
O
n July 4, 2014, USF named Steve Bradley as head coach of the USF men’s golf program. Less than a year later, the Bulls recorded the best season in program history.
Bradley won his first tournament as head coach at USF, leading the Bulls to a victory at The Invitational at the Ocean Course, and steering USF to four more wins throughout his inaugural season. USF was rankined inside the top 20 for the entirety of the 2014-15 season, and Bradley helped coach the Bulls to an American Athletic Conference Championship, as well as the second berth into the NCAA Championships in program history. Reaching the NCAA Championships wasn’t enough, as Bradley coached the Bulls to sixth place during stroke play, sending USF to the NCAA Championship match play quarterfinals. Bradley coached five players onto the all-conference team, including The American Freshman of the Year Claudio Correa, and was named the 2015 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Still in his first season with USF, Bradley had three Bulls named to the PING All-Region Team. Bradley guided the Bulls to another program first during the 2015-16, with a return to the NCAA Championship after the team placed fourth at the Albuquerque, N.M., Regional. Prior to NCAA action, Bradley’s Bulls defended their title at the American
Athletic Conference Championship, one of four tournament victories for the program. Bradley had four of his players earn all-conference honors, including American Player of the Year Aksel Olsen, and he was named conference coach of the year for the second consecutive season. Three all-conference picks - Olsen, Chase Koepka and Correa - were named to the PING AllSoutheast Region team. Named the 2014 Atlantic Sun Conference Coach of the Year, Bradley is a former University of Florida player and assistant coach with roots in the state. He came to USF after having served as head coach for the Mercer University golf program since 2011. In three seasons leading the Bears, he oversaw a program rise in the Golfweek/Sagarin College team rankings from No. 103 in 2011 to No. 30 in 2014. Bradley guided the program to a conference championship and first-ever qualification for the NCAA postseason in 2013-14 and coached six Atlantic Sun AllConference players during his tenure. Bradley guided three Bears players to qualification in the NCAA postseason regional tournament in the 2011 and 2012 seasons after the program had previously had one qualifier in its history. His 2013-14 team won three tournaments, including the conference championship, and defeated such teams as Georgia, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and Florida State. The Bears had two players named to the Conference All-Freshman Team and Trey Rule was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year. Prior to his tenure at Mercer, Bradley served as an assistant coach for three years at the University of Florida as the Gators advanced to three NCAA National Championships, finishing 19th, 23rd and 11th from 2009-2011. He was part of a program that won the 2011 SEC championship, had three golfers ranked in the top 25 in collegiate golf, and was consistently ranked in the top 10, finishing the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons ranked No. 6 in the final Sagarin rankings. A 1999 graduate of the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business with a bachelor’s degree in finance, Bradley began his professional career working as an account executive and sales manager for CDW Corporation, Inc., a Chicago-based Fortune 500 company. Bradley was a two-year member of the Florida golf team, garnering All-SEC second-team honors in his junior season, his first in Gainesville, and finishing third in the 1998 NCAA East Regional. Bradley assumed the role of team captain in his senior campaign and led Florida to the 1999 SEC Conference Championship. Before transferring to Florida in the fall of 1997, Bradley spent two seasons competing for Florida State, leading the Seminoles with five top-20 finishes during his sophomore season. As an amateur, Bradley won the 1996 Florida State Amateur title and also qualified for the 1994 U.S. Amateur. Bradley is married to his wife, Jen. The couple have two daughters, Campbell & Collins.
COACHING STAFF
BRAD CALDWELL
AssISTANT Coach | First season | NORTH GREENVILLE
USF head men’s golf coach Steve Bradley has announced the addition of Brad Caldwell to his staff as the Bulls’ new assistant coach on Jan. 13, 2017. Caldwell joins the Bulls for the spring season after playing full-time on PGA Tour Canada in 2016. Prior to his second stint in pro golf, Caldwell served as head men’s and women’s golf coach at North Greenville University, his alma mater, from June 2014 to early 2016. “I’m really excited about having Brad onboard,” Bradley said. “He has an impressive background as an All-American in college and a professional on the Canadian Tour. Having been an assistant coach, having been a head coach at a Division II school, he really checked a lot of boxes regarding what I was looking for. More importantly, I was impressed with how he communicates and what his thoughts are on running a golf program.” Caldwell, 28, qualified for PGA Tour Canada in early 2016 and went on to make seven of 11 cuts, finishing 76th on the order of merit. Caldwell tied for 16th at the National Capital Open to Support Our Troops in Ottawa and posted a 71.03 season scoring average. He finished second on the tour in total eagles, fifth in par-5 birdie or better average and 10th in par-5 scoring average. Prior to PGA Tour Canada, Caldwell worked his way up from assistant men’s and women’s coach at North Greenville (2011-13) to associate head coach for both programs in 2013-14. Caldwell then shined as a head coach at North Greenville (2014-16), leading the men’s team to an NCAA Division II ranking of No. 13, which helped him earn Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year honors in 2015. North Greenville’s men’s program made consecutive NCAA Regional appearances under Caldwell. Before becoming a coach, Caldwell was a four-year letterman at North Greenville and was named an NCAA PING All-American as a senior in 2010. The native of Asheville, N.C., was a three-year captain at NGU and set program records with six career wins, 14 top-five finishes and 21 top-10 outings. Caldwell earned NCCAA All-America honors twice and was a 2010 NCAA PING All-Southeast Region selection. Caldwell returned to NGU as an assistant coach in 2011 after playing a season of professional golf right out of college. From 2010 to 2013, Caldwell played on various developmental tours that included the Nationwide Tour, NCA Hooters Tour, Egolf Tour, Carolinas Pro Tour and the Carolina Mountain Tour. Caldwell received his Bachelor of Science degree in sports management, with a minor in business administration, from North Greenville University in 2010. “I think it’s going to be a great fit and I know our guys are going to benefit,” Bradley said.
