Event Summary: The Winelands Creative Arts Week (WCAW) is a 1-week long annual creative arts festival hosted around mid-year in the district, Cape Winelands. Over seven days it features various events: live performances, workshops, interactive exhibitions, and a panel discussion. The WCAW promotes community pride by celebrating things that make our Winelands special and evoke good feelings. The festival offers a rich variety of disciplines in the Performing and Creative Arts which covers poetry, creative writing, dance, drama, music and Fine Art. This 1-week long festival will feature well-known and young up-and-coming artists and intends to play a leading role in transforming community arts, entertainment, music, craft and design within the Boland/Cape Winelands region. WCAW aims to;  Create an interactive platform for both semi-professional and professional artists by showcasing their products and productions in various disciplines  Attract visitors to stimulate the growth of tourism and other businesses in that hosting town or region annually.  Showcase creative arts related opportunities and their worth in the South African and global economy.  Provide a space for artists to network, engage and create partnerships between business and creative arts in the Cape Winelands district. The tourism element of the event is to create awareness about local products created by local artists and develop opportunities for the artists to exhibit and showcase their products and services. Further more the project also aimed to showcase the history of the surround communities to national, international and domestic tourist visiting the district. The closing ceremony features a film screening showcasing the achievements of all participating artists, groups, directors and producers . The aim of this event is to honour local artists and to encourage them to produce quality productions and products that can play a pivotal role in “Transforming Creative Arts in the Winelands” as it is the Theme of the Festival.

Festival PR & Promotion The promotion of the festival will be driven through community radio and television. The two versions of television promos will be created focusing on arts careers and opportunities and other promos will be encouraging artists to attend the festival. The radio promos will be recorded in two languages Afrikaans and Xhosa to be broadcasts on some district community-radio stations this includes local publications (community newspapers). Branding Strategy The branding strategy included the following: - Dissemination of posters at schools and tertiary institutions - Street pole advertising - Perimeter branding around the CBD and surround communities - Placement of posters and flags in strategic areas Festival Catalogue & Magazine BMH will design and produce online and digital two publications which targets all participating creative artists, audience, exhibitors, donors and partners attending the festival. The objective is to equip participants and target audiences to navigate the festival. These publications will feature: • Messaging from the partners • Profile all partners and donors/funders • Full program for the 7 days • Floor Plan and safety measurements • Important Festival contact numbers Festival Branding (Short-term objectives)  To increase awareness of the festival across all creative arts industry sectors  To establish the Winelands Creative Arts Week (WCAW) as a credible event.  To encourage relevant parties to participate in all stages until the final event.  To have a communication network in place to reach all relevant stakeholders and audience  To develop and create a strong corporate identity for the festival as a foundation for proposed image building and increasing its visibility  Strategy is to create a brand that is youthful and creative
