Ecology
Ecosystem Chat Today we are interviewing Mr. Wolf he is going to answer a few questions about ecosystems and how he functions in one. Interviewer:
An ecosystem is an community of interacting organisms and their physical environment. 1. What ecosystem do you and other wolves typically live in? Mr. Wolf : Well I personally live in and prefer forest like ecosystems, but other wolves’ ecosystems may vary from grasslands to forests and even DESSERTS, wolves can live in temperatures changing from -70 to 120 Farinent. 2. Why does living in a forest fit your personal needs? Mr. Wolf: Well, first of all, the forest temperature is very comfortable for me and when it gets cold my fur coat protects me. Secondly, the forest fits and satisfies my dietary needs. I eat animals like deer, elk and moose. 3. What other things contribute to the ecosystem you live in? Mr. Wolf: Well an ecosystem is not just one specific organism living there‌ its all living things from plants to animals. Everything in an ecosystem plays a very critical and important role. If one thing gets out of hand or is messed with, everything could fall apart.

A Biome is a group of ecosystems that share a similar climate and have similar organisms. There are terrestrial biomes (land) and aquatic biomes (water). Some biomes include the Tundra, Rainforest, Savanna, Taiga, Temperate forest, Temperate grassland, Marine, and Freshwater. Biomes are a big part of ecology as a whole and it influences things, such as an organism’s niche and survival. 9
Habitats A habitat is the natural home or environment of a animal. Some examples of habitats are forests, marshes, and streams. People tend to mix up habitat with ecosystem, the main difference is ecosystems contain many habitats and many different organisms and species, and a habitat is where an animal or population of animals lives.
