This Week and Beyond

Parish Hall Forum (Jan. 5) This week's forum topic is Evangelism: Why It Matters To Life At GSL with The Rev. Meredith Jane Day. More at www.gracestlukes.org/sundaymorning. Come early for breakfast in Trezevant Hall beginning at 8:45 a.m. and stay for the forum, 9:15-10:10 a.m.

Daytime Book Group (Jan. 9) Our next discussion is Jan. 9 with The Secret Wife by Gill Paul. This is an open group—no invitation or requirements other than a love of reading. We meet in the Red Room from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring a sack lunch. The group is facilitated by Janie Morris (morrishome1 at bellsouth.net) and Carol Ann Mallory (cam2269 at aol.com). Third Thursday (Jan. 16) The first Third Thursday Fellowship of 2020 will be Jan. 16. Carol Coletta, president of Memphis River Parks Partnership, the agency charged with redeveloping the riverfront, will talk about the progress thus far as well as the status of plans for Tom Lee Park. Come learn more about this vital Memphis asset and ask this knowledgeable expert your questions. We will begin at 6 p.m. with fellowship followed by dinner and Carol's presentation. The cost is $20 per person, and all members of the congregation, no matter your age, are welcome. Mayor Strickland, Wednesday Lunch Speaker, Jan. 22 Mark your calendar for the first GSL Wednesday Lunch Fellowship of 2020 when Mayor Jim Strickland will reflect on “The State of Memphis and Hopes for 2020.� A daytime adult gathering, the Wednesday Lunch Fellowship (formerly The 39ers) meets almost every month for social time at Noon followed by 12:30-1:30 catered buffet lunch ($6) with a brief program by special guests. All are invited to bring a friend and spread the word about this monthly fellowship.

Outreach

Room in the Inn Clothes Closet Calvary Episcopal Church hosts Room in the Inn on Sunday nights (November-January) and serves over 200 breakfasts to homeless and poor neighbors on Sunday mornings. The community outreach program at Calvary needs donations: Men’s jeans, socks (even single socks), underwear, shoes or sneakers (size 9 or larger for men), sweaters, T-shirts, coats, slacks, warm jackets, rain gear, warm hats and gloves, blankets, sleeping bags, and toiletries. A collection box will be located at the GSL LeMaster entrance lobby for donations to be delivered to Calvary. For more information, visit www.gracestlukes.org/news/room-in-the-inn.
