Preparing for Sunday Phishing Alert
Friday greetings, Grace-St. Luke’s! Hear ye! Hear ye! Read all about it! The October-November edition of The Messenger is available for download. Sunday, October 4: Tune in at 9:15 a.m. for a 30-minute virtual formation offering followed by 10:30 a.m. worship, 5:30 p.m. prerecorded music concert, and 6 p.m. worship outdoors.
9:15 Formation: GSL Celebrates the Feast of St. Francis, Sunday, October 4. Tune in on Facebook & www.gracestlukes.org/sunday-morning for a Clergy Presentation by the Reverends Laura F. Gettys and Ollie V. Rencher commemorating the commitments of love, simplicity, care for the poor, and animals, commonly attributed to Francis, who prayed that we might become instruments of the peace of God for the world. 10:30 Worship, In Person or Livestream includes Virtual Blessing of the Animals. Online reservations are required by noon on Saturday, October 3, by following this link , for limited-capacity seating. We are unable to accommodate those who have not signed up in advance. In observance of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the service will be enriched with special music, prayers, and a virtual blessing of the animals. For the names of your beloved living and departed animal companions to be offered aloud at the blessing, please email them to Receptionist & Ministry Associate Abby Huber today by noon. 5:30 Prerecorded Music Concert. Tune in at 5:30 p.m. to Facebook or YouTube for a musical concert. This Sunday’s prerecorded musical concert will be an organ recital by Dr. Patrick A. Scott featuring music for St. Francis Day: featuring movements from Saint-Saën’s Carnival for the animals and an improvisation on All Creatures of our God and King.
6 p.m. Worship, Outdoors. The Right Reverend Phoebe A. Roaf, Bishop, has sanctioned the opportunity for faith communities to offer the Holy Eucharist outdoors. For more information including what to expect, including required sign up by noon Sunday, follow this link. For Children. All children are invited to participate in the 20-minute virtual Prayer Table for conversation, songs, stories, and prayer via Zoom after the 10:30 service. Zoom links are sent to the Children's Formation email list on Saturdays. If you'd like to have a Prayer Table kit for your family, contact Director of Children’s Formation Sharon Campbell .
For Youth. This Sunday Grace-St. Luke’s and Calvary will gather for a Halloween Movie Night at The Field, located at 2233 Harbert Ave. Come out with your chair or blanket for a socially distanced viewing of the spooky classic, "Halloweentown!" This event, for all youth grades 6th-12th, is from 7-8:30 p.m. Contact Director of Youth Formation Amzie Williams for details. Phishing Alert. A phishing text message has gone out to some of you from someone pretending to be our rector, the Rev. Ollie V. Rencher. The text went something like this: "Hi Lucy, How are you? I need you to help me with something very important. I'm in a meeting now and can't talk, please text me back when you get this. Blessings Rev. Ollie." If you reply, you will be asked to purchase an Amazon gift card or something similar. This was not our Ollie+ who sent this text. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. Please always be vigilant when responding to texts OR emails with requests for assistance or messages that include links to click or attachments to open. Please, don't hesitate to contact the clergy or staff before responding to suspicious texts or emails. Our contact information can be found here .
