Preparing for Sunday and Beyond Looking Ahead
Friday greetings, Grace-St. Luke’s! TRUNK & TREAT IS SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31. Let’s make this a Happy Halloween for the children of all six partner congregations and our Memphis community. Join us in the circle drive with a decorated trunk and all your Halloween spirit to cheer on the sweetest Trick-or-Treaters in Midtown! Additional important details available here . Daylight Savings Time Ends This Weekend. Remember to move your clocks back one hour Saturday night. Sunday, November 1, All Saints' Day: Tune in at 9:15 a.m. for a 30-minute virtual formation offering followed by 10:30 a.m. worship, 4 p.m. worship outdoors, and 5:30 p.m. prerecorded service of music and reflection. 9:15 a.m. Formation: Exploring The Saints Through Poetry with The Rev. Katherine M. Bush, Sunday, November 1, via Facebook and YouTube . 10:30 Holy Eucharist, In Person or Livestream. Online reservations are required by noon on Saturday, October 31, by following this link , for limited-capacity seating at our first indoor Holy Eucharist since March 15. Sunday is Pledge Sunday, a festive occasion to support our 2021 stewardship campaign, Resilience and Connection by Giving: visit www.gracestlukes.org/pledge or hand-deliver your paper pledge form to the collection plate located at baptismal font to be presented among Sunday's offertory gifts. For Children. All children are invited to the 20-minute virtual Prayer Table for conversation, songs, stories, and prayer via Zoom after the 10:30 service. For Youth. This Sunday will be a Netflix Movie night! Join us at 5 p.m. via Netflix Party for a viewing of the Halloween movie, ParaNorman. A link will be sent out Friday night. For questions about Youth Formation, contact Amzie Williams. Election Day Compline, November 3. All are encouraged to join on Facebook Live on the evening of November 3 at 8 p.m. for a service of night prayers officiated by the Rev. Ollie V. Rencher.
A Service of Healing Prayers, Wednesday, November 4, 8 to 8:30 a.m. On the day after Election Day, all are invited to gather for 30 minutes of prayers via livestream or in person (sign up required). Interspersed with the lighting of candles and moments of silence, the clergy will offer a variety of healing prayers including ones for the human family, national life, peace, social order, and guidance. The Episcopal tradition celebrates common prayer as one of many gifts for faith and spiritual journeys. November 4, GSL Reading Together, Zoom Discussions Begin. Our November book is Learning to Walk in the Dark by Barbara Brown Taylor. The Zoom discussions will take place November 4, 11, and 18 from 6-6:45 p.m. The October sessions for Just Mercy were a well-received success, so please join in for November.
