Preparing for Sunday and Beyond Looking Ahead
Friday greetings, Grace-St. Luke’s! Sunday, November 8, The Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost: Tune in at 9:15 a.m. for a 30-minute virtual formation offering followed by 10:30 a.m. worship, 4 p.m. worship outdoors, and 5:30 p.m. prerecorded service of music and reflection.
9:15 a.m. Formation: Building Compassion and Resilience in Beloved Community: A Conversation with Dr. Susan Campbell and The Rev. Laura F. Gettys on the Methodologies of Dr. Brené Brown, Sunday, November 8, via Facebook and YouTube . 10:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist, In Person or Livestream. Online reservations are required by noon on Saturday, November 7, by following this link , for limited-capacity seating of Holy Eucharist. For instructions about how to prepare for coming, follow this link. For more information on what to expect, including required sign up by noon Sunday, follow this link. 5:30 p.m. Prerecorded Service. Tune in at 5:30 p.m. to Facebook or YouTube for this Sunday’s contemplative service with spoken word by the Rev. Laura F. Gettys and musical offerings by guest musician Jeanne Simmons, flute. For Children. All children are invited to the 20-minute virtual Prayer Table for conversation, songs, stories, and prayer via Zoom after the 10:30 service. For Youth. Confirmation Class: Sundays 11-11:45 a.m. On November 8 and 15 we will meet in Overton Park at the Pavilion by Rainbow Lake. 6th-8th graders are invited from 3-4 p.m. and 9th-12th graders from 4-5 p.m. For questions about Youth Formation ,

Looking Ahead: Join us for a livestreamed conversation on Sunday, November 15, at 9:15 a.m. when Paula Barnes will facilitate a discussion with Memphis-based journalist and author, Emily Yellin, about her journey as a white female writer and her 25-year journey covering Race and Social Justice issues in the South. Her most recent work was for the 50th anniversary of the Memphis Sanitation Strike, for which she helped produce Striking Voice in partnership with TheRoot.com . Emily has been a longtime contributor to The New York Times, The Washington Post, Time, and others and has two published books. You can read more about her extensive work at emilyyellin.com . Important to Note: This class will not be recorded ahead of time, but it will be a live class via Zoom. All are welcome to attend.
