Upcoming Events

Introducing Public Theology (Mar. 7) This evening from 5:30-7 p.m., GSL will launch a new formation offering, Public Theology, at Celtic Crossing in the Cooper Young neighborhood. Join Father Ollie Rencher and the Rev. Meredith Jane Day for the topic, “What’s the Deal with Lent?” Public Theology is a time of laid-back fellowship and open conversation facilitated at a public restaurant by a member of the clergy. Monthly topics will focus on relevant issues of faith, spirituality, and current events. Both non-alcoholic and alcoholic refreshments will be available for purchase. All adults are invited to these drop-in gatherings, so bring a friend! Watch the parish news and notices for the locations and topics for April 4, May 2, and June 6. For more information, contact the Rev. Meredith Jane Day: mday@gracestlukes.org.

Daytime Book Group (Mar. 14) Next Thursday, March 14, the GSL book group will meet at Novel. If you want to join the group for lunch between 11 and 11:15, please respond to Janie Morris preferably by email at morrishome1 at bellsouth.net or 901870-8727 or phone (901-218-3543 or 901-761-1020) by Tuesday the 13th and she’ll make reservations. If you decide to come later than Tuesday, just show up and find a table. We will hear reviews of interesting books to consider for next year.

Third Thursday (Mar. 21) All are invited to the March 21 Third Thursday gathering. We are pleased that our speaker is a product of GSL Church (daughter of Mary Reed and Billy Reed) who has made quite a name for herself in theater. Virginia Reed Murphy will introduce us to a very innovative form of theater, Playback Theater. the start time is 6 p.m. for beverages and appetizers with dinner served at 6:45. The fellowship and conversation with old friends and new are always valuable. The cost is $15 per person. Reservations are very important for the caterer, so please be sure to make yours no later than Tuesday morning. Email or phone Lucy (lowens@gracestlukes.org or 901-252-6333) or reserve your spot and pay online at www.gracestlukes.org/events/third-thursday. Hope to see you there!
