Ministry Celebration for Organist-Choirmaster, Wesley Emerson (June 2) All are invited to bid farewell to Wesley upon his retirement from the Parish Staff after thirty-two years of ministry at GSL. The May 9th informational notice to the parish community is available
in the public spaces or online (www.gracestlukes.org/news/wesley-emersons-retirement). A grand leave-taking reception in Trezevant Hall will follow the 10:30 service on June 2 at which time a special gift will be presented from the Vestry and the Rector on behalf of the Parish. In lieu of a “purse,” you may offer any financial gifts in his honor payable to “Grace-St. Luke’s Church” (memo “GSL Friends of Music Fund”) or send them directly and make payable to “Wesley Emerson” through the Church Office.

Episcopal Youth Community GSL Youth Community Welcome Events for Director of Youth Formation, Amzie Williams
GSL Director of Youth Formation, Amzie Williams has arrived to Memphis to begin new ministry with support from Youth Formation Intern, Addison Combs, adult volunteers, and the Youth Advisory Committee. The Director of Youth Formation Search Advisory (Grant Adams, Patrick Burnett, Nina Callan, Patty Liles, Andy Nix, Lauri Prather, Virginia Rowland) and the Rev. Ollie V. Rencher, Rector have organized spring fellowship events for the parish and school communities. Middle Schoolers with Amzie: Monday, June 3, 7-9 p.m., hosted by Lauri and David Prather and Nina Callan, 1741 Glenwood Place in Central Gardens, Dinner provided. This summer our youth will partner with Memphis Youth Mission to serve our community here in Memphis, Tennessee. Youth will volunteer at a variety of agencies, and through their work and their presence will come to know more about issues of homelessness, poverty, food insecurity, and the unsupported. If your child is interested in attending, please register BY MAY 31 at https://tinyurl.com/GSLSummer2019. The total cost is $400; a $200 deposit is required at registration. Public Theology (June 6) Mark your calendar for the next GSL Public Theology June 6, 5:30-7 p.m. at Celtic Crossing in the Cooper Young neighborhood. Join Father Ollie
Rencher to discuss “Pentecost: Celebrating The Holy Spirit and Our Eternal Life.” Public Theology is a time of laid-back fellowship and open conversation facilitated at a public restaurant by a member of the clergy. Topics will focus on relevant issues of faith, spirituality, and current events. Both non-alcoholic and alcoholic refreshments will be available for purchase. All adults are invited to these drop-in gatherings, so bring a friend! For more information, contact the Rev. Ollie V. Rencher (901-252-6320, orencher@gracestlukes.org)
Young Adult BBQ (June 8) All young adults (20s and 30s) in the parish are invited to a summer BBQ hosted by Dan and Price Peacock. We will gather on Saturday, June 8, from 4:30 till 7:30 p.m. Burgers and Dogs are provided, but feel free to bring your favorite snack or drink to share. Spouses, kids, and friends are all welcome! Belvedere Chamber Music Festival (June 19-22) The 13th Annual Belvedere Chamber Music Festival will be at Grace-St. Luke’s June 19–22. Concerts are each evening at 7:30 and on Friday and Saturday afternoons at 3. As always the programs are made up primarily of music from the last hundred years. Some of the well-known composers represented are Prokofiev, Mahler, Villa-Lobos, Andre Previn, and Leonard Bernstein. Programs last approximately an hour with no intermission. All concerts are free and open to the public. There will be an opening reception in Trezevant Hall after the concert on Wednesday night. Please come and invite friends and neighbors. All the specific program details will be at www.belvederefestival.org by June 1.

Summer Office Hours From June 7 through August 9, the Parish House will be closed on Fridays. The church offices will be open Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m. For any hospital or pastoral emergencies concerning a member or facilities management emergency matters, contact the Clergy on Call at 601-613-2378. Please note: On Fridays, Clergy-Staff Team members may be reached via email regarding work on certain matters.
Directories Available in Church Office If you were not able to pick up your directory on the Sundays they were avaiable before and after services, just stop by the church office during office hours: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. If you did not have your pictures made, directories are available for $5 each.
