The Future of Graded August 22, 2013 Dear Friends of Graded, Welcome to a very special lunch. I would like to thank Fernanda Ingletto Vidigal, Roberta Paes de Almeida, Lorena Pinheiro Lima Souza and Veronica Sverner Arruda for graciously hosting this important lunch. Over the last 93 years, Graded has been recognized as an educational leader that provides the highest quality education - one that promotes excellence, creativity, and diversity. Now, as our community grows and evolves, we must take critical steps to move forward and ensure that Graded can offer the best learning experiences possible for many more years to come. This effort for the future of the school will be historic and focus on three key areas: Endowment, Expansion, and Enhancement. Your participation as parent and alumni leaders is vital to our success in reaching strategic goals. The purpose of this event today is twofold: to share our vision for Graded and hear your feedback; and to inspire you to get involved - by making a leadership gift commitment, helping grow the prospective donor population of the school and participating in a future event. I would also like to thank Roberto Sallouti, our Board Chair, as well as the entire Facility and Development Committee: Renato Ochman, Chair; Ana Cabral-Gardner; Carlos Hitoshi; and U.S. Consul General Dennis Hankins. This group has worked tirelessly to lead this important effort. Over the last three years, they have provided counsel and financial commitments to make this vision a reality. Please review the enclosed materials that offer a more extensive introduction to Priority Areas and Opportunities for Involvement. Thank you for attending today. This is an extraordinary time for our school and a tremendous opportunity for us to get involved to impact the entire Graded community today and for tomorrow. I am confident that when we stand together as a community, results will be transformative. All the best, Lee Fertig Superintendent

Expand & Renovate In order to create the best environment for learning and meet the growing need of both International and Brazilian applicants, Graded must make it a priority to expand the campus and renovate aging infrastructure over the next five years. The school, in partnership with Zannettini Arquitetura Planejamento and Hochtief do Brasil, has developed a comprehensive campus project that seamlessly blends educational buildings, enlarges signature green spaces, and creates new collaborative areas, impacting every member of our community and enabling the Graded Experience to thrive for years to come. In order to start Phase I of the Graded Campus Project, the Graded Board of Directors has approved spending as much as R$25 - 30 million of the school’s capital reserves, but the community still needs to raise a significant amount of additional funds to complete the project. Campus Naming Opportunities range from R$500,000 to R$5 million+ and include the following: • New Athletics Complex and Parking Garage • Student Center • Renovated Cafeteria • Expanded Auditorium • New Classroom Building • Welcome Center In addition, gifts of R$100,000 to R$250,00 will be prominently recognized on The Donor Wall at the Main Entrance.
