The Pete Burke Community Center can accommodate up to 200 guests for meetings, wedding receptions, banquets, reunions, and themed events. As an ID Card holder you can travel with us and invite guests as long as they are registered on the access roster at least 72 hours prior to the trip.

Auditions: A Midsummer Night’s Dream
November 5, 6 p.m. Community Theatre, Bldg. 262 The Garmisch Community Theatre is looking for actors/actresses with any level of experience, and volunteers for the backstage area to include tech, costumes, set design, etc. If you would like to co-direct please get in touch with our office prior to auditions. Beginner Quilting Class - Lap Quilt
October 22 - Meet and Plan November 5 - First Class Consists of 6 sessions every Tuesday, 6 - 7:30 p.m. Learn the basics of machine quilting! You’ll learn to use a rotary cutter, cutting board and rulers, piercing, basting, quilting, and binding. You’ll make a finished baby quilt or lap quilt. We’ll supply the tools so you can try them out, and you’ll get to take home instructions to make lots more. Cost is $95 (materials not included).
Picture Matting and Framing Class
Learn the basics of matting and framing. After completion of the course you will be able to use the shop’s framing equipment and machines and you will receive the Arts & Crafts Qualifications Card, which is honored at all other Family and MWR Arts & Crafts Centers. Fee: $45 for two sessions, plus materials. Call for dates and times.

Day Trips Calendar of Events Munich the Bright Tour October 3 This tour will offer the best sampling of highlights selected from as many as four churches, one rococo theatre, a few of the 500 fountains, and a different museum each time we go! Cost: $35 Adults. Special Live Theatrical Performance Trip to Munich October 17 Watch the theatrical performance Macbeth by William Shakespeare broadcast live from the National Theatre in London. Munich is one of the four theatres in Germany that offer this simulcast. Tickets to Munich’s National Theatre must be obtained separately and usually run around 18€. Cost: $12 Adults. Munich: The Dark Tour (Last Third Reich Tour) October 18 This is the most ambitious introduction to the dark period of Munich’s history offered by any tour company! The tour starts with a two and ½ hour video and lecture about the rise of the Third Reich under Adolf Hitler in the city of Munich. Not appropriate for children. Cost: $39 Adults. Tramin Wine Festival October 19 Our first stop will be Girlan, where the last load of grapes will arrive in the central square. Here, local wine makers & vineyard owners bring their latest vintages to the square and offer samplings. Next, we travel to the “Traminer Weingassl” where the town’s main street is converted into a pedestrian alley, lined with local cuisine, wine and live performances. Cost: $59. The Gorge and Pool Tour October 19 One of the most beautiful natural sights in GarmischPartenkirchen is the Partnach Gorge. It is beautiful in every season and serves as our “mini Grand Canyon” without quite the influx of visitors! The Alpspitz Wellenbad is the town’s largest pool, and the best spa in the local area. Cost: $28 Gorge and Pool, $24 Pool alone and $8 Gorge alone. Children under 12 are half price. Concert Trips to Munich October 23 Visit one of the world’s greatest opera houses, Munich’s National Theater, and witness a brilliant classical concert with music by Ravel, Messaien, Benjamin and Jancek. Opera tickets can be arranged directly with the Outdoor Recreation staff. Cost: $12 for transportation. Opera and Ballet Trips to Munich October 23 Witness cutting edge drama. Usually our tickets are costing far less than the prices charged by other cultural venues. And, we get to retain the same seats from year to year. Cost: $12 for transportation. Opera & Ballet tickets are arranged directly with Outdoor Recreation.
Overnight Trips Calendar of Events Bardolino Lake Garda Weekend Getaway October 12 - 14 Enjoy a weekend of food, wine, bike tours and a beautiful lake side view. Nearby water and amusement parks can easily be reached with free shuttles from Peschiera. Cost: $235 Adults in double room. Cost includes accommodations, breakfast, dinner and drinks. Venice and Verona, Italy October 25 - 27 Join our renowned guided tours of the Accademia and the Scuola di San Rocco. See the pigeons in St. Mark’s Square, gondolas and more. In Verona, tour the famous Romeo and Juliet city with its Roman Arena before dining at a wonderful restaurant and driving back to Garmisch. Cost: $299 Adults, $145 Children. Price includes transportation, hotel accommodation (shared room) and breakfast. Single supplement $45 per night. Prague and Pilsen Brewery October 21 - November 3
The capital of Bohemia has the famous Charles Bridge, an Old Town Square, the beautiful St. Vitus Cathedral in the Old Castle and a wonderful tradition of music making by “Bohemians” of all stripes. Your guide gives an excellent tour of the Franz Kafka Museum. On a long weekend this tour becomes a three day tour and includes a visit to the Pilsner Urquel Brewery in Pilsen. Even on the short 2-day tour we stop in Pilsen briefly for a great restaurant and introduction to unfiltered and non pasteurized beer. Cost: $390 Adults, $195 Children. Price includes transportation, hotel accommodation (shared room) and breakfast. Single supplement $45 per night.
Ski Austria One-Day Ski Trip October 26 - Stubai (Glacier)
Check out the places the Garmisch locals go. We’ll show you some hidden gems and big mountains. Cost: $79 includes transportation and ski pass, $89 with equipment.
