Family Friendly Prague: Christmas Markets and A Performance of the Nutcracker Ballet by Peter Tchaikovsky **

December 13 Prague is not just all about “Pivo and Nightlife.” There is a thriving art and music scene with splendid traditional performances of classical works that are sometimes given a certain modernistic “twist”. This is certainly the case with Prague’s production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Ballet which Americans associate very much with Christmas but Europeans tend to regard as a tale of a young woman coming to terms with the first attractive young man in her life! But even Prague gives a slightly different spin to its “Nutcracker” and it is a delightful one. Prague Nutcracker is definitely “family friendly entertainment” for the holiday period. Naturally there are the usual assortment of Christmas Markets and holiday cheer in a city that looks like a Christmas card anyway! All in all this trip is a great way to get ready for the holiday period. Price: $290 per adult, $145 per child. Price includes transportation, hotel accommodation (shared room) and breakfast. $90 Single supplement for two nights. Admission to theatrical performances not included and must be obtained in advance. Departs: 4:15 p.m.; estimated time of return is 9 p.m.

Snowshoe Torch Hikes

mountain torches. Great family fun! Each hike is approximately 1.5 hours each way. Price: $15 per adult, $10 per child (12 years and below). Price includes guided hike and torches. Dinner is not included. Departs: 5:30 p.m.; estimated time of return is 11 p.m.
