Blind Date with a Book February 2-26
Visit the Hohenfels Library during the month of February and select a wrapped book for a ‘Blind Date with a Book’. We’ll have a selection of potential favorites BUT you won’t be able to judge these books by their covers - take a chance on book love. Blind dates are not forever, but you may wish they were!
Indoor Bouldering Night in Nuremberg February 2
Leave behind ropes and harnesses and use only climbing shoes and a bag of chalk over safety mats. Your challenge is to climb short but tricky bouldering “problems” using balance, technique, strength and your brain. Contact Outdoor Recreation to sign up.
Unit Level Volleyball Team Registration & Coaches Clinic February 1- March 2
Sports & Fitness is accepting Letters of Intent for our upcoming Intramural Volleyball program. If you have a team and are interested in participating please stop by the Post Gym.

Learn to Ski Quick Trip February 6
From never putting on skis to wedge turning, we are here to give you the skills needed to start skiing. Spend the day on the slopes of what we call the Mont Blanc of the Bavarian Forest – Grosser Arber. Contact Outdoor Recreation to sign up.
Carnival Venice, Italy February 6
Join Outdoor Recreation as we re-live 18th century Venice, taking part in its magnificent Carnival! Those mysterious, disturbing Venetian masks, eyeing you from the city’s alleyways are part of what we imagine the Venetian world would have been like 300 years ago. Headlamp Snowshoe Hike in the Woods February 9
Looking for something fun to do on those long winter evenings? On snowshoes we hike through the night and push away the cold and the darkness with our high spirits and great stories. Headlamps show us the way - and we may even gather a cup of mulled wine or cocoa after the journey. Sign up at Outdoor Recreation.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day by showing your love with a fun puppet craft at the Hohenfels Library! Appropriate for children, ages 3-12.
Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament February 12, 6:45 p.m.
Come out to the Zone and enjoy one of America’s favorite card games. Texas Hold’ Em is one of the most popular variants of poker and has fascinated players for many years. $25 buy-ins and rebuys.
Valentine’s Wine Tasting February 12, 6:45 p.m.
Learn about wine from the pros. We have professionals coming to the Zone that do it all from the vine to the wine! Learn how your favorite drink is made, bottled and why you like what you like. Learn how to pair it with the food that will bring out the best flavors!
President’s Day Weekend Ski Trip to Selle Ronda, Italy February 12-15
Enjoy some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the in the Italian Dolomites with Outdoor Recreation. Trip includes three overnights in a 3-star hotel including dinner and breakfast and daily transportation to the slopes in a modern luxury coach.
Indoor Roped Climbing Night in Regensburg February 16
Wanting to learn to climb or just stay strong for the real rock? Come with Outdoor Recreation down to the indoor rock climbing gym in Regensburg! Their facility is one of the largest in Germany. There will be an intro class for first timers and a leading class for those ready to be on the sharp end.
Snowshow Hike while your Kids Learn to Ski February 16
Let Outdoor Recreation take you snowshoeing into the magic of the Bavarian Forest while our experienced instructors take your children onto the bunny slopes and teach them how to ride the snow. Everyone will reconvene in the afternoon for hot drinks and lots of stories to share.

If you’re looking to spice up your evening and enjoy a night of local performers singing and dancing to your favorite music, this Karaoke Night at the Zone is just right for you.
Rainbow Loom Club February 23, 3-4 p.m.
Do you Loom? Do you want to learn? Come to our monthly Rainbow Loom Club at the Hohenfels Library and make some cool bracelets and more. Use our looms and supplies or bring your own. Lots of fun for ages 8 and up!
Eclectic Book Club

Now that the kids are back in school, you have more time to read, right? Join our Eclectic Book club as we embark on epic journeys through books, with the added deliciousness of talking about them afterwards! Call the Library for more information.
Super Hero Story Time and Crafts February 26, 4-5 p.m.
Everyone can be a super hero! All Children, ages 3-10, are invited to the Hohenfels Library to attend this fun event and enjoy stories, songs and crafts. Dress up is encouraged! It’s fun to be a hero!

Get dressed up and get out to The Zone and PARTY! Jam to all your Regaeton, Hip-Hop, R&B favorites. Food and drinks will be available to purchase. See you there.
Beer Spa Retreat Weekend in Czech February 26-28

Volleyball Officials Clinic February 29-March 3
The Hohefenfels Post Gym is looking for officials to support our Intramural Volleyball program. Experienced or no experience, all are accepted, we will teach you everything you need to be an official/score keeper.

Hola! Servus! Hello! Do you need to brush up on your English speaking skills? Did you know that ACS offers free English Conversation class? All you have to do is call ACS so we can schedule you for English practice during our weekly class.
Kids Konnection
Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9-11 a.m.
This twice weekly playgroup offers a fun and diverse format featuring music time, free play and special activity stations. Redefined for ages 6 weeks to 4 years, this program offers flexibility and opportunity to meet new people who are raising young children in our Hohenfels community. Bring your child, a mid-morning snack and join in on the fun.
Baby Boot Camp
Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
If you think about it, the reason for Boot Camp, really the reason for any kind of training is to get ready for the ‘main’ event. This newly revised 7-part rotating program is for those who are expecting a new arrival that answers questions most books and programs don’t. Geared for parents-to-be, this workshop covers topics such as birth certificate process in Germany, breast feeding, personal expectations, bringing baby home and much more.
Sponsorship Training February 1, 2-3 p.m.
Learn to be a better sponsor by having a complete understanding of the duties and expectations. Sponsorship training provides valuable information and insight to help Soldiers and DA Civilian employees to prepare to be a sponsor for incoming personnel, whether individuals or families, and to maximize the total support available to all new arrivals during the relocation process.
Hearts Apart Coffee Group February 2, 9-10 a.m.
This program is designed to support spouses whose partner is on an unaccompanied tour or deployment. Share common concerns, ask questions and participate in social activities. Bring the kids. We meet at the Hohenfels Java Café.
Survival German 101
February 2, 4, 10 & 11, 9:30-11 a.m.
4-Part series - Survival German makes it easier for you to order food in restaurants, shop, travel, ask for directions and understand German doctors. You will simply feel more comfortable living in Germany. This could be the best use of 8 hours of your life ever. Important Note: These are sequential classes that build on each other. You need to attend all four classes.
Survival German 201
February 2, 4, 8 & 9, 5:15-7:15p.m.
4 part series - The continuation into Survival German (Level 2) adds greater confidence, vocabulary and enlightenment into your German language ability. It makes sense to speak the language if you live here, right? So take advantage of this FREE second level program. Very Important Note: These are sequential classes that build on each other. You need to attend all four classes.
VMIS Training for Volunteers February 3, 9-9:30 a.m.
The course is a step by step guide to the Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS). Learn how to register as a volunteer, create your profile, apply for volunteer positions and log your volunteer hours. If you are a new volunteer or new to the Hohenfels community and want to volunteer, this course is for you.
VMIS Training for OPOCs February 3, 10-11 a.m.
This one hour program is designed specifically for volunteer points of contact for local units and organizations. This class provides detailed information on the web based Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS) site, how to add a volunteer and their hours into the system, create and add position descriptions, view applicant information, set up meetings with potential volunteers who have applied and understand the importance of tracking hours.
“Why Volunteer?” Workshop February 3, 1-2 p.m.
Are you looking for ways to help out in the community but don’t know where to start? Are you seeking other career enhancing opportunities but need experience to apply? This is a great workshop that shows you where to start and why. We explore the steps necessary to volunteering in the Hohenfels Military Community as well as which organizations are looking for your support.
Setting Smart $$$ Goals February 11, 2-3 p.m.
We all have places we want to go, things we want to do and stuff we need to have. Learn how to get it all with a simple plan in place. Join us as we discuss how goals stop those people who want to help us spend our money.

Not sure how to best support Family readiness and ensure effective Family assistance? Join ACS for this comprehensive discussion based training designed to provide you the resources to succeed as an FRL.
Smooth Move Workshop February 24, 1-3 p.m.
Is your upcoming PCS stressing you out? How do I plan for a PCS move? Are you lost and have no idea what to do? When should you contact your landlord to let them know you’re leaving? How much will the move cost me? Will my spouse be able to find a job at our next duty station? What am I entitled to? All these questions and more will be answered.

This fun event is open to everyone in the Hohenfels community that wants to participate, so share it with friends, families and neighbors. There are over 25,000 songs to choose from including classics, movies, hip-hop, pop and more. A good singing voice is not required.
