Until June 13; Classes are Tuesdays at 5:30 p.m. or Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. Do you ever get overwhelmed or intimidated at the gym? Are you bored with your workout and want to spice it up a little? Participate in our Amateur to Expert series. Each week we focus on a different type of training. Pick one week or come to all.

UNIT LEVEL SOCCER TEAM REGISTRATION

Until June 17 Sports & Fitness will be accepting Team registration Letter of Intent’s for our upcoming Intramural Soccer program. Contact the Post Gym to pick up your letter and for more information.

HOHENFELS MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE

June 4 Join us for the Annual Hohenfels Mountain Bike Race (noon). There will be multiple age categories for racers and a great post race party! There will also be an additional kids race (10 a.m.) and a beginner mountain bike race (11 a.m.) For more information, contact Outdoor Recreation.

EVENING OUTDOOR ROCK CLIMBING

June 7 Join Outdoor Recreation after work or school and climb some of great local crags. We’ll hit up a different climbing area each time we go out so you’ll get a tour of the surrounding wealth that is the Frankenjura Climbing Mecca. Price: $25/person.

2016 GOLF TOURNAMENT

June 10, 8 a.m. With some of the best greens around, you’re not going to want to miss out. The tournament is open to the first 18 teams to register, so stop by the Hohenfels Post Gym and register your 4-person team today.

TEXAS HOLD ‘EM TOURNAMENT

June 10, 6:45 p.m. Come out to the Zone and enjoy one of America’s favorite card games. Texas Hold’ Em is one of the most popular variants of poker and has fascinated players for many years. $25 buy-ins and rebuys.

PAINTING WITH FRIENDS

June 10, 6:45 p.m. Come out to the Zone and paint your heart away all while laughing and joking! Each class we paint a “special” surprise painting that gets unveiled the day of. Sign up early as our class fills up quickly.

WHITEWATER KAYAKING

June 11 Join us for a trip that includes paddling one of Germany’s best kayaking destinations. By the end of the day, you will have paddled small class I‐II rapids and be able to paddle similar water on your own. Price: $59/adult. Contact Outdoor Recreation for details.

POLISH POTTERY

June 11 Boleslawiec, Poland is the heart of the pottery industry where factories continue to hand‐stamp the patterns on each piece in the hundred‐ year‐old tradition. I LOVE MY DADDY - FATHER’S DAY CRAFTING

June 15, 2:30-4 p.m. Moms are encouraged to bring thier Children, Ages 3-12, to the Hohenfels Library and show your dad how much you love him, by making a cool craft for his special day.

KARAOKE

June 17, 7-11 p.m. If you’re looking to spice up your evening and enjoy a night of local performers singing and dancing to your favorite music, this night at the Zone is just right for you.

ÖTZTAL ADVENTURE WEEKEND

June 17 - 20 Join Outdoor Recreation for a four‐day adventure and camping weekend located in the Ötz Valley in the Austrian Alps. Let our trained staff guide you through activities such as white‐water rafting, via‐feratta, traditional roped rock‐climbing, mountain‐biking, hiking and more! Price: $179/person.

Our staff work very hard to make sure that children are well cared for and have every opportunity to grow and develop. The ‘All Star’ program is set up to show staff how much we appreciate them and recognize their tireless efforts of caring for our Children and Youth. Please help us out by writing ‘star notes’ for excellence that you see. Each facility has a special location for the ‘All Star’ cards to be posted. At the end of each month, the cards will be collected and an award will be given for the caregiver who has the most ‘Star Cards’.

SUMMER SOLSTICE HIKE

June 21 Welcome in summer with Outdoor Recreation on a hike to the top of the Walberla Plateau on the longest day of the year! This hike is of moderate difficulty and should take no longer than 1.5 hours to reach the summit with space for an evening picnic or outdoor activities such as Frisbee, kite‐flying or simply relaxing in the evening glow. Please wear comfortable shoes and pack food/refreshments. Price $25/ person.

WINE TASTING

June 24 Spend the evening relaxing at one of our little hidden treasure local wine destinations. Outdoor Recreation will take you to a Regensburg Wine Cellar, a Sinzing Winery, and the cozy Gut Loeweneck Cafe located on the scenic Naab River. Each wine outing offers a diverse sampling of German and Italian wines paired with various artisan appetizers. Price: $39/adult.

FAMILY CANOE & KAYAK DAY

June 25 We cast off kayaks and paddle boards in the charming castle Village of Kallmuenz where the Vils and the Naab join to form a wide beautiful mountain valley. See the local wildlife, vegetation and terrain features as you float the currents of the Naab. End the day with a campfire and dinner in the campground at Pielenhofen. Price: $45/adult, $22/child.

PRAGUE

June 25 See the Golden City of Europe with Outdoor Recreation. The 2‐hour walking tour with a local guide takes you through the historic center, showing the Astronomical Clock, Charles Bridge and many other famed sites. Wear comfortable shoes. You’ll have ample time to enjoy lunch, explore the city on your own or shop.Price: $69/adult, $30/child under 12.

YOGA HIKE RETREAT

June 26 Take your yoga practice one step further – outdoors! Our instructor will guide you on a moderate hike to a scenic river, mountain, or lake for an extended yoga practice. Experience yoga in nature while being guided into a deeper sense of relaxation and mindfulness. Healthy snacks will be provided. Bring your yoga mat, pack water, trail snacks, lunch and extra clothing. Hiking shoes or boots are recommended. Price: $35/person.

RAINBOW LOOM CLUB

June 28, 3-4 p.m. Do you Loom? Do you want to learn? Come to our monthly Rainbow Loom Club and make some cool bracelets and more. Use our looms and supplies or bring your own. Lots of fun for ages 8 and up! Contact the Library for more information.

ECLECTIC BOOK CLUB

June 28, 5-6 p.m. Take some time for yourself and read a good book with us! Join our Eclectic Book club as we embark on epic journeys through books, with the added deliciousness of talking about them afterwards! Newcomers are always welcome.

LAKE NIGHT

June 29 Enjoy two hours paddling the beautiful Steinberger See. Paddle over to the restaurant across the lake or explore the tiny islands from your choice of paddle board, kayak or canoe! Price: $25/adult. Contact Outdoor Recreation for details.

SCHOOL AGE CENTER SUMMER CAMP

The School Age Center will be Cruisin’ through Bavaria this summer! Join us for 10 weeks of summer camp fun! Weekly camp rates are based on total family income. Spaces are limited and on first come, first serve basis. Contact Parent Central Services for more information.

VOLUNTEER COACHES NEEDED FOR THE FALL SEASON

Youth Sports is in need of coaches for the Fall season. Please help make a difference in a child’s life by volunteering. Your child may qualify to play for FREE if you coach! Contact Youth Sports or Parent Central Services if you would like to coach.

YOUTH FALL SPORTS REGISTRATION

Until July 31 Sports offered are: Soccer (Ages 3-15), Football & Cheerleading (Ages 6-15) and Cross Country (Ages 10-15). A copy of a sport physical (valid through November 15) must be on file at Parent Central Services before the start of the first scheduled practice to participate in both practices and games. June 6, 10, 13 & 17, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. An introduction to Survival German will make it easier for you to order food in restaurants, shop, travel, ask for directions and understand German doctors. You will simply feel more comfortable living in Germany. This could be the best use of 8 hours of your life ever. Important Note: These are sequential classes that build on each other. You need to attend all four classes.

HEARTS APART COFFEE GROUP

June 7, 9-10 a.m. This program is designed to support spouses whose partner is on an unaccompanied tour or deployment. Share common concerns, ask questions and participate in social activities. Bring the kids. We meet at the Hohenfels Java Café.

RESUME WRITING

June 8 & 22, 1:15-2:45 p.m. Get some special help and insight into writing civilian & federal resumes and cover letters which are valuable in doing what you need done: separating your you and your resume from everyone else’s. We’re also discussing best practices in locating federal jobs using USAJOBS, as well as other important tips to getting noticed and hired.

WHAT THEY FORGOT TO TEACH YOU ABOUT MONEY

June 9, 2-3 p.m. Learn how to make your money behave, go where you intended it to go and do what it’s supposed to do. Create a spending plan that helps you reach your goals and still let’s you have some fun now.

HALLO HOHENFELS NEWCOMERS ORIENTATION

June 14-17 This is the place to be if you’re new to the community. In addition to learning some German language, you will explore local communities, a local bakery and butcher shop, discover Mobelhof, a huge home decorating store and spend the final day on a site seeing visit to Regensburg. Find out how your new community works without doing everything yourself and make some new friends at the same time. Special DOUBLE bonus: a visit to the epicenter of the rotations: the ‘Star Wars’ building AND a visit to the training area, a “Box Tour.”

FRG INFORMAL FUNDS/TREASURER TRAINING

June 21, 10 a.m.-noon Calling all current and future Family Readiness Group (FRG) Treasurers/Informal Funds Custodians. This training is designed specifically to answer FRG related questions regarding informal funds management and documentation.

READING AND REPAIRING YOUR CREDIT REPORT

June 23 2-3 p.m. Review and repair your credit report. Learn some of the tricks to get those unflattering past mistakes removed and raise your credit score. Hoping it will get better all by itself doesn’t work.

FAMILY KARAOKE NIGHT

June 24, 4-8 p.m. This fun event is open to everyone in the Hohenfels community that wants to participate, so share it with friends, families and neighbors. There are over 25,000 songs to choose from including classics, movies, hip-hop, pop and more. A good singing voice is not required.

SMOOTH MOVE WORKSHOP

June 29, 1-3 p.m. Is your upcoming PCS stressing you out? How do I plan for a PCS move? Are you lost and have no idea what to do? When should you contact your landlord to let them know you’re leaving? How much will the move cost me? Will my spouse be able to find a job at our next duty station? What am I entitled to? All these questions and more will be answered.

Ongoing Programs KIDS KONNECTION

Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9-11 a.m. This twice weekly playgroup offers a fun and diverse format featuring music time, free play and special activity stations. Redefined for ages 6 weeks to 4 years, this program offers flexibility and opportunity to meet new people who are raising young children in our community. Bring your child, a mid-morning snack and join in on the fun.

LEGO BUILDERS CLUB 3rd Wednesday of each month at the Library. Ages 8+

BABY BOOT CAMP

Thursdays, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. If you think about it, the reason for Boot Camp, really the reason for any kind of training is to get ready for the ‘main’ event. This newly revised 7-part rotating program is for those who are expecting a new arrival that answers questions most books and programs don’t. Geared for parents-to-be, this workshop covers topics such as birth certificate process in Germany, breast feeding, personal expectations, bringing baby home and much more.
