August 26 & 27, 7:30 p.m. August 28, 2:30 p.m. Based on one of Roald Dahl’s most poignantly quirky stories, Roald Dahl's James And The Giant Peach JR. is a brand new take on this "masterpeach" of a tale. Featuring a wickedly tuneful score and a charmingly witty story, this adventurous musical about courage and self-discovery is destined to be a classic. When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that grows a tremendous peach, rolls into the ocean and launches a journey of enormous proportions. James befriends a collection of singing insects that ride the giant piece of fruit across the ocean, facing hunger, sharks and plenty of disagreements along the way. Cost: $5 for ages 6 and up. Free for 5 and younger.

SPECIAL DISPLAYS
During August the Libraries are hosting several special displays. Stop by and find out more information on the following: - Get Ready for Kindergarten Month: this is a celebration to support the happy entry into Kindergarten for the almost 2 million children in the United States. Going to Kindergarten is a life-changing event, not only for the child, but also for parents, siblings and educators. - National Read-A-Romance Month: First observed in 2013, this monthlong celebration urges readers to pick a novel to read from the romance genre. Romance novels represent the highest human aspirations: they feature men and women fighting for their best possible lives, against difficult odds and with the universal demand that they change – for better.
