PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC October 2 Visit the Golden City of Europe! SALZBURG, AUSTRIA October 15 Rich in history and character, Salzburg offers: gardens, shops, museums and more. Ride in a horse-drawn carriage down the historic alleys and stop at a café and try a “Sacher Torte,” Austria’s famous chocolate cake. And visit Mozart’s birth-house on Getreidegasse Strasse 9 in old town and the Mirabell Palace and Gardens where scenes were filmed from “The Sound of Music.” Bus and walking tours are also offered at the tourist information office. Passport Required. Cost: $49 per adult, $39 per child (3-12), $10 per child under 3.
HALLOWEEN IN THE FRANKENSTEIN CASTLE October 22 Join us at Frankenstein Castle near Darmstadt for the biggest Halloween party in Germany! This annual event is in the ruins of the Frankenstein Castle and has more than 70 monsters waiting to scare you throughout the castle grounds, with shows on stage, refreshments and food… JOIN THE FUN IF YOU DARE! Entrance to castle included. Entrance is allowed to anyone above 14 years old only! Cost: $79 per person (over 14 years old only).
TWO CASTLES
October 30 Germany is famous for its castles but Bavaria offers the biggest and best of them all. A building frenzy was initiated by King Ludwig II during his short reign, and while he almost bankrupted the country, the castles are a lasting testimony to whimsy and inspiration for fairy tales. At Schwangau you can tour the world famous Neuschwanstein, and the more sedate Hohenschwangau. Cost: $49 per adult, $39 per child (3-12), $10 per child under 3. Entrance fee to the castles is approx. €15 per castle per person.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Sign up online: https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/Grafenwoehrrectrac.html Or pick up a Passport Guide at the facility.
