Outdoor Recreation (ODR) provides many opportunities to you, your Family and friends to discover the wonders of living in Europe. As an ID card holder you can travel with us and invite guests as long as they are registered on the access roster of both Rose Barracks and Grafenwoehr at least 72 hours prior to the trip. Please Note that trip assistants are required to ask for your passport before boarding the bus, as per European law in case of police check. . Keep receipts of your purchases abroad for Customs officers checking. . Keep some cash with you at all times as ATM machines are not available everywhere. Refund Policy - Original receipt is REQUIRED when asking for refunds. - NO REFUND FOR NO SHOWS! Day Trip Refund Policy - Cancellation up to three working days prior to trip: 100 % refund - Cancellation two working days prior to trip: 50 % refund - Cancellation one working day prior to, or day of trip: No refund Overnight Refund Policy - A deposit of $100 per child and/or $150 per adult is required upon enrollment. - 30 days prior to the trip’s departure date: A minimum of 50% of the trip cost is required. At this time the deposit is not refundable due to our contractual obligations with the hotels and other agencies. - 14 days prior to the trip’s departure date: The remaining balance of the trip cost is required. - Cancellation up to 31 days prior to the trip’s departure date: A full refund will be received unless otherwise indicated. - Cancellation from 30 days to the trip’s departure date: The amount refunded depends on the specific hotel’s cancellation policy. The administration fee of $150 deposit per adult will not be refunded, unless the cancellation reason is supported by documentation that is signed by a commanding officer or physician. Customers will only receive refunds if their balance paid exceeds the obligation to our contractors. Only the fees paid exceeding our costs will be refunded. - Soldiers should have leave forms approved prior to the 30 day cancellation date. - If our Outdoor Recreation (ODR) staff cancels the trip, all customers providing their original registration receipt will receive a full refund. - We reserve the right to forfeit any reservation that does not pay the balances due, at the specified times prior to the trip’s departure date, as stated above. Rental Policy - Rentals must be paid in full by time of pick-up. - A late fee will be charged if the item is returned late and without notice at the following rate: 1 day late: 1 day fee, 2 days late: 1 weekend fee, 3 days late or more: 1 week’s fee minimum.

The Eagle’s Nest, famous retreat of Hitler is a lovely chateau located at the crest of a mountain in the Bavarian Alps. Though the building has been converted into a restaurant, many still flock to the sight just to see it up close. The bus must park at the base of the mountain, so customers must choose whether to hike to the crest or to take the local bus. The bus will cost around €15 per person. After departing the Eagle’s Nest, the bus takes customers to the salt mines located on the Austrian border. The cost of the salt mines tour is an additional €16 per adult and €10 per child. The Roman Park “Sorviodurum” at Straubing combining different geophysical prospection methods as planning criteria of a touristic park. Carpathians went down to posterity of the World War II, during which the surrounding forests served to the partisans as a place of their meetings and fights for liberation of Bratislava city. We will be heading to the outdoor playground of the Soca river valley, which is one of the most beautiful places in Europe. You will have the option to get instruction in whitewater kayak, rock climb, klettersteig, mountain biking, also there will be guided hiking trips. An optional whitewater raft trip will be coordinated on the Soca River for an additional cost. We will be camping along the river at an established campground with all modern facilities. On the first day we will spend approximately 4 hours prepping and rafting the Inn River with Faszinatour Adventure and Sports. This is a class three river which is appropriate for beginners and is still good fun for veteran rafters. The second day you will have the option of taking in the scenery of rural Haiming Austria, or you can experience an awesome day at Area 47. This outdoor water park has something for everyone. Join us for white water rafting with Faszinatour Adventure and Sports and klettersteig adventure in the beautiful Tirol Region of Austria! Day one: starts with a four hour river experience on the Inn River. This section of the Inn River is considered “class three� with large waves and rapids and also calm areas where swimming is encouraged. KLETTERSTEIG DAY TRIP June 28
Klettersteiging is similar to rock climbing because it uses much of the same safety equipment. However, rather than climbing up the rock face, you traverse the face on an established route. Klettersteigers are kept safe by attaching a self-belay system to a steel cable that runs the length of the route. Join us to experience this exhilarating activity. GRAFENWOEHR HAS ONE HUNTING AREA SET ASIDE EXCLUSIVELY FOR U.S HUNTERS.
Access to this hunting area is gained by special permit only. These permits are issued via lottery. In early spring, interested hunters submit their applications to vie for a permit. From these applications 10 names are drawn for permits.The permit cost is €325 and will be valid from May 1 until January 31. The on-post area is an individual driven program where the maintenance, upkeep, feeding and tracking of the seat rotation is all handled by the permit holders with guidance from the HFS program manager. To enter the Lottery you must be in possession of a valid hunting license on the day of the drawing and assigned to Grafenwoehr. If your name is one of the first ten you will have five working days to pay the fee or the next person drawn will receive your slot. We will start taking Lottery Applications 31 March, cut off is 18 April. (A valid German hunting license is a must to participate in the lottery)

Klettersteig is a European specific hiking discipline, which combines hiking and climbing. Bonfires are a traditional summer solstice event. What makes our “back yard” unique is the location as well as the shapes of our “Bergfeuer.” Just across the Austrian border in neighboring Ehrwald, the bonfires are built carefully by members of the local mountain clubs in various unique shapes (crucifix forms, the edelweiss flowers, mountain sheep, etc). Each year the planned images are a closely guarded secret. The next day we tour the Ducal Palace and then we will have the rest of the day free to explore. FAT TIRE SPECTACULAR! MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE September 6
For over 25 years it’s been the original mountain bike race for the US Force and the oldest Mountain Bike race in Germany! Part of the IMCOM Europe US Forces Championship Series; it’s open to all Military and DOD civilians. 25 kilometers of challenging cross-country terrain! Categories will be included for: Active Duty, DOD Civilians, and Youth. Adults will complete 5 laps of a cross country single track loop, 5 kilometers long. The terrain consists of 1/3 gradual uphill, 1/3 downhill and 1/3 gnarly rocky, rooty single track through forest. Short Course Youth: 1k loop, less single track, less hill climbing, shorter downhill. Flat Track children: flat loop in front of lodge, gravel road. Price: $25 per adult, $15 per child. Departs: Keans Lodge, the first race will begin at 10 a.m.
