Gaimberg 757 m

Historically seen, the entire sunside hill, which adjoins Lienz in the north, bore the name „Gaimberg“. Even at the time of the roman city of Aguntum, there may have been a few houses here. Exemplary is the found of remains of a roman villa during excavations. The area Grafendorf with its parish church of St. Bartholomew (center of village) dates back to the Gorizian family of the counts of Grafendorf. To the 750 inhabitants counting community, belongs a hotel and a few pensions, as well as a leisure center with tennis courts. Since the year 1958, as the mountain railway was opened up to the Zettersfeld, Gaimberg has also gained a touristic importance.
