Amlach/Tristach – 1.911 m Panoramic peak Rauchkofel

The summit area of Rauchkofel was deforested in 2014/15 and since then it offers a wonderful panoramic view to the Lienz Dolomites and the entire valley ground of Lienz. Two cozy viewing platforms with information boards invite for resting. The Rauchkofel can be reached via the standard path from the Dolomitenhütte parking (approx. 1 hour - also suitable for familys) or via two demanding routes from the valley ground - up the Westgrad (via Goggsteig) or the Salzsteig. Surefootedness and condition is required here!

You do not have to be a dedicated mountaineer to make a visit at the hut with its great panoramic views. Rather, an excursion is part of the “must-do” program of Osttirol holidaymakers ... it can easily be reached by any hiker (about 2 hours from the Dolomitenhütte). Arriving on the sun terrace, the daily menu entic- Karlsbaderhütte with Laserzsee es you with freshly prepared dishes and home-made pastries. And if the weather is not that good, there is enough space in the rustic parlours. For those who want to explore the surrounding mountains , the shelter offers enough sleeping possibilities (registration required!) opend from 16th of June till 2nd of October 2022 (depending on weather!) 90 sleeping places (59 beds in 2- / 3- / 4- / 5- / 6-bed-rooms + 31 camp-beds), large new washing facility rooms with showers, seminar room.

Panorama road 1045 - 1620 m Dolomitenstraße

A well-maintained and paved toll road directs you by car to the heart of the famous Lienz Dolomites. At the destination target at the Dolomitenhütte – on 1,620 m sealevel – at the large parking area is the starting point for beautiful climbing tours in the solid gray Dolomites rocks, for hikes, such as the shelter Karlsbaderhütte, about two hours away or for a leisurely walk to the romantically located Instein pasture with memorial chapel.
