’day friends and welcome to another edition of your favourite Aussie bird mag. Firstly, I hope that you all had a great end to 2015 and have had an even better start to 2016! I must say that the year has gotten off to an absolute flyer and things only look like speeding up from here. By the time that you are all reading this I will be in India for the 3rd ASI International Avian Convention, an event that I am very excited to be attending. Myself, along with a small group of fellow Aussies will be joining participants not only from India, but also Europe, the U.S.A, South Africa and more. A run down of the event will be featured in the next issue of Aviarylife. On the subject of bird conventions, 2016 will see numerous such events held right across the Globe. Following India, there are conventions set to be held in Spain, the Czech Republic, the U.S.A, Greece and Australia to name but a few. Here in Australia there will be two fantastic conventions held this year, with the first being the 26th Northern Avian Convention, which will be held in Sarina, QLD on the 11th and 12th of June, more details can be found in the classifieds. This will be closely followed by Parrots 2016, which will be held in Brisbane, QLD from the 1st until the

3rd of July, further details can be found on page 29 of this issue. For the latest update on the Orangebellied Parrot’s current situation, check out the write up commencing on page 6. The bird sale and expo season is upon us again; please see the pull out Aviarylife Bird Sale Calendar that replaces the centrefold for this issue on pages 30-31. Anyway, that’s enough from me for now, without further ado, please go ahead and enjoy yet another jam packed issue of Aviarylife. Until next time, take care and keep spreading the bird word. Cheers,
Simon

GROUND BREAKING FIRST EVER EXCHANGE OF SPIX’S BETWEEN ACTP AND AL WABRA
incredible birds were raised, the fantastic cooperation between project partners, ACTP and Al Wabra has reached a whole new high. And to this end, I am very excited to officially announce that in December 2015, for the first time ever, birds were exchanged between these two world class facilities! This is a huge step forward, enabling the formation of yet more unrelated pairs at both facilities. And is yet another testament to the strength of the relationship between ACTP and Al Wabra, along with their mutual commitment to the recovery of the Spix’s Macaw! Congratulations to all involved.
