Firm ordered to remove all waste from site By Michelle McGlynn

C&D Recycling in Rathnew has been ordered to remove all waste and equipment from their site by the High Court. Stan O’Reilly, who operated the waste management facility, had claimed that the plant did not require planning permission as it had previously been used for solid fuel bagging and grain storage. It was argued on behalf of Mr O’Reilly that the collection, sorting and recycling of construction materials came within the definition of “industrial process” contained in regulations dealing with exempted development. Wicklow County Council did not agree with this and legal proceedings were undertaken. In July 2014, the Circuit Court found that there had been an unauthorised material change of use but did not order Mr O’Reilly to remove all waste and equipment. As the council had revoked his waste permit during

proceedings, the court said it was deprived of power to direct an orderly winding down of activities. The council appealed this aspect of the court’s decision. In her ruling last week, Ms Justice Iseult O’Malley rejected claims that it Mr O’Reilly could not remove the material and equipment as it was now “out of his power”. It was argued that as his lease had ended, he would only be able to enter the site as a trespasser. Claims that Mr O’Reilly could not afford to carry out the removal were also rejected because the claim was not supported by evidence of his means and current occupation. Ms Justice O’Malley ordered Mr O’Reilly to remove all material and equipment with a realistic timetable proposed by the parties to be incorporated into her order at a later date. Wicklow County Council had granted a waste management permit for the site to Mr O’Reilly in July 2006.

Who you gonna call, Aengus? RTE broadcaster Aengus MacGrianna braved one of the most haunted sites in Ireland when he visited Wicklow Gaol for a Nationwide special. The episode which aired on the eve of Halloween saw MacGrianna take a paranormal tour of the famously spooky gaol. The newscaster was

joined by Keith and Angie Freeland of Paranormal Troubleshooters International. Keith is a parapsychologist while Angie is a psychic medium. MacGrianna admitted that he is open to the concept of ghosts and was eager to learn about the history of the gaol. As part of the tour, the group had the chance to “meet” with past inmates. the gaol making it the ideal place to hold a séance. While gathered in the infamous cell, Angie calls out to the spirits causing a table to move and fall to the ground. This Halloween weekend was a busy one for the haunted gaol as TV3’s Anna Daly paid a visit. Daly’s was investigating paranormal activity for herself as part of Saturday:AM’s Halloween special.

Two new intitiatives have been launched by An Garda Siochana in an effort to combat rural crime - Operation Thor and Operation Hurdle. With €5 million in funding, Operation Thor will crackdown on rural crime as they target 200 of the nation’s most prolific burglars. There will be an increase in recruitment, additions to the Garda fleet including a number of high-powered vehicles as well as undercover cars. Increased investment in ICT for gardaí and public awareness campaigns are also planned. Speaking to the Wicklow Voice about the launch of Operation Thor, Garda Declan Lynch said, “Local gardaí don’t have the time or resources to go after these large, organised gangs so this initiative will see supported units tackling the issue. “They will use information gathered by local garda stations to target these gangs who are known to gardaí.” Operation Thor will be supported with stricter criminal justice approaches to repeat offenders and setting bail. Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan has said that she hopes to see tangible results over the coming weeks and months. In an effort to crack down on Christmas tree theft, Gardaí have also launched Operation

Hurdle 2015 this week in an effort to crack down on Christmas tree theft. The initiative, now in its fourth year, will focus on crime prevention in the Wicklow Uplands area. As part of the initiative, there will be checkpoints and patrols carried out by Garda units in the Uplands area. “The gardaí in Wicklow are working closely with the Christmas tree growers as Garda John Whelan in Wicklow Town operates as the liaison,” Garda Lynch told the Wicklow Voice. “These people work extremely hard and invest a lot of time and money into these trees and the theft of these trees is taking their livelihood from them. “We are monitoring the areas in question and hopefully we can prevent these burglaries.” Award-winning Christmas tree grower Christy Kavanagh has welcomed the launch of Operation Hurdle 2015. “Prior to Operation Hurdle starting it was estimated that up to 2,000 Christmas trees per annum were stolen in the Wicklow area with a retail value of €50,” Christy told the Wicklow Voice. “The knock on effect of Operation Hurdle is with greater Garda presence in rural areas you get the ripple effect. “For example, my 87-yearold mother feels safer and my family sleep better in our beds at night.”

The team at Byrne and Woods are delighted to been chosen once again and credit their success to hard work, great customer service and innovation. “We are delighted to have been chosen for a third year in row,” Joe Hanway told the Wicklow Voice. “I would personally like to thank all of my staff for their hard work and dedication.”

I do for syria raises €4k By Michelle McGlynn

brides and brides-to-be have helped to raise over €4,000 in aid of Syrian refugees. I Do For Syria, an innovative fundraising initiative founded by Bray’s Roisin Kelly, was launched at a gala event last week in House on Dublin’s Leeson Street. Hundreds of people turned out to support the event where pre-loved wedding dresses and bridesmaid dresses were auctioned as well as donated sample dresses and wedding services. The event marked the launch of an online store which will continue to auction stunning dresses at a fraction of their cost with all the money going to the Irish Red Cross. Speaking to the Wicklow Voice Roisin said,

“We had a wonderful night and it was the perfect launch for what I believe will be a great fundraising opportunity for the Irish Red Cross.” The success of the event would not have been possible without the generous support and donations by numerous individuals and businesses. “I would especially like to thank House, Dublin for hosting the event,” said Roisin. “Thank you to Siopaella for acting as a drop-off point, Andrew McElroy and Louise Merryweather for doing the hair for our models and our makeup artists Serka Kinsella and Gail Fitzpatrick Miller.” All dresses available to purchase can be found on the I Do For Syria Facebook page. Pictured is Hannah Moore modelling one of the dresses on the night.

I can see Wales! 180 new homes - with great views - on way to Greystones

By Michelle McGlynn

Greystones housing market is set for a huge boost as 180 home development arrives - and the developers say you can see Wales from the bedrooms!. SeaGreen, located on Chapel Road, has just begun construc-

tion with a launch expected for next year. The scheme of threebed, four-bed and five-bed houses is the first large residential development in the area for many years. Location is a huge draw for potential buyers as the seaside address is close to a number of

schools and other amenities. The selling agents are promising spectacular views of the Irish Sea and even claim that you will see Wales from the bedroom window on a clear day. Wood Group Homes have said that SeaGreen will be a lowdensity scheme, with an average of 7.5 homes per acre. The houses will be laid out in cul de-sacs, allowing for plenty of green space and larger than average gardens. Sherry Fitzgerald New Homes are looking at the possibility of holding a series of “pre-launch events” before Christmas. There is already a database of interested buyers for the SeaGreen homes and prices will begin at under €400,000. The homes will be built using traditional solid masonry conrete block and brick, with vaulted trussed roofs to enable potential buyers convert the attic and triple-glazed timber windows. The facades will have either full-brick or half-brick elevations, with granite sills, coins and detail with render finish. The path and drive of each home will be made of cobblelock natural stone, with side gates leading to a private rear garden and paved patio. Buyers will have a choice of colours for the internal walls as well as a tiling allowance for the walls and floors in the entrance porch, kitchen and bathrooms. SeaGreen is just a fifteen minute walk from Greystones DART station providing easy access to the city centre for commuters. All enquiries to Sherry Fitzgerald, 01 6671888.

By Michelle McGlynn Wilt thou have this woman to be thy wedded wife? Whimsical couple, Jaun Amo and Ana Revuelta, exchanged vows this past weekend at a medieval themed ceremony in the Esplanade Hotel in Bray. “We just wanted to do something different and involve all of our guests,” Juan told the Wicklow Voice. “We had a brilliant day and you could feel the happiness everywhere.”

Juan and Ana, who are both from Galicia in Spain, welcomed 80 friends and family members to Bray where they have made their home together. The newlyweds are both PE teachers and play rugby with Greystones Rugby Club so their wedding weekend kicked off with some physical exercise. The guests played a touch rugby match in Greystones and took a trip out to Glendalough as the sun shone. The fun continued into the

evening as they gathered to watch the Rugby World Cup final and enjoy some live music. The big day had finally arrived and the guests put on their medieval finery and joined the happy couple at the Esplanade Hotel. It was an emotional ceremony for the couple as well as their Spanish and Irish guests. But there was plenty of fun to be had as they enjoyed a photoshoot on Bray seafront and passers-by mistook them for extras from the tv series, Vikings.

Save the date: cancer calendar to be launched By Michelle McGlynn

A brand new charity initiative is hoping to raise funds for Wicklow Hospice Foundation and the five Wicklow cancer support centres ahead of the festive season. A calendar has been created featuring stunning images of Wicklow’s beauty spots and will be launched mid-November. The project is part of the East Coast FM Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning Fund for 2016 and is the brainchild of Marlena Murphy who has been involved in every year of the Coffee Morning. Marlena worked with local designer and photographer Richie Kelly to design the calendar while the photographs have all been donated by generous photographers from around the county. The creative duo want to boost funds for the annual

East Coast FM charity event as well as create awareness of the beauty to be found in County Wicklow. “We wanted the calendar to encourage and inspire people to discover or revisit these hidden gems, perhaps when looking for somewhere new to go for a picnic or weekend walk with the family,” Marlena said of the Wicklow Calendar project. “We were overwhelmed with fabulous images from ten award winning Wicklow photographers and hope to use some of them in our next edition.” They are hoping that the calendar can be an annual project and are already looking to the next three years. “We are thrilled to have such a great idea and Wicklow product shared with us,” East Coast FM Coffee Morning Founder and Organiser Claire Darmody told the Wicklow Voice.

“The calendar is a wonderful addition to the Coffee Morning events and a gorgeous Christmas gift. Hopefully it will provide a record start to next years’ fund.” The East Coast FM Morning Show Producer will be hosting the launch upstairs in the Harbour Bar on November 12 at 6.30pm. Claire, Marlena and the team are hoping for a great turnout as guests can expect a night of great entertainment, refreshments and the chance to meet some celebrity guests. The calendar will be available to buy at the launch and will be available throughout November and December. You can pick up a calendar from the East Coast FM radio centre on Killarney Road and at Christmas fairs across the county. See the East Coast FM website and The Wicklow Calendar Facebook page for up-to-date news.

We’re a new type of school

G

reystones Community National School is a new primary school in Greystones of the Community National School model (www.cns. ie). We are a new type of school to reflect the modern Ireland– an Ireland that celebrates diversity and embraces equality. The Community National Schools provide a welcome to each child in the community we serve and create learning based on diversity and inclusion. We are passionate about equality and rail against discrimination on any grounds. Our schools cater for the physical, academic, social, emotional and spiritual needs of children within the school day in a supportive and caring environment. Our equality policy, available on our website, is a policy that will make you proud to send your child to our school. We are multi-denominational which means we cater to children of all faith and none. In this year’s Junior Infant class we have a healthy mix of children with no faith as well as those of Catholic and Church of Ireland. The key thing to remember is that regardless of the faith (or none) in which you want to raise your child the CNS model caters for this and we will respect fully the wishes of parents in this regard. Our Goodness Me Goodness You programme has been developed to meet the moral and spiritual needs of our children and ensures an enriching experience for our pupils (www.gmgy.ie). Our goal is to become an integral part of our community where all stakeholders play a very real part in the life of the school. We are based in Greystones Rugby club in our initial years but will move to a brand new building in the near vicinity. As we were created to meet the basic need for primary places we do not have a catchment area as of yet and as such can welcome children from a wide area. Our location means many of our children will come from Charlesland, Eden Gate and Delgany but we are not restricted to these areas. We plan to be a school where the highest standards of teaching and learning occur. This will be achieved through frequent monitoring of teacher performance with Teaching & Learning Reviews which monitor achievement of children as well as the quality of teaching. Teachers will be supported with CPD from experienced teachers and specialists as well as from other CNS schools to ensure they remain at the top of their game. We employ team teaching and quick identification of SEN to ensure adequate support can be implemented – inclusion of children with additional learning needs is our passion. We also ensure that our high flyers are challenged and pushed on – too often these children can be allowed to coast.

We plan to be at the forefront of pedagogical methods infusing ICT as a key component of what we do by hiring teachers who are passionate about putting our children at the cutting edge of Information Technology. Eventually all children above infants will have a tablet replacing the need for textbooks yet also allowing them to embrace the latest learning technologies. ICT when used correctly can greatly enrich a child’s learning but it is never more than a supplement to quality teaching and learning provided by teachers. We communicate with parents electronically through email, facebook, twitter and in time our school app for maximum efficiency and of course to be environmentally friendly. These methods enable us to be always available to our parents/carers as we understand how important the home school relationship is. We bring the open door policy for parents to a new level as we recognise the increasingly vital role the home-school relationship plays in a child’s education. We value and actively seek parents’ views and whilst only open since Sept 2015 have done so in terms of uniform, behaviour policy, start times, book lists, communications and healthy eating policy. Where possible we intend to always consult our parents on matters of policy. Greystones CNS is a school committed to providing all the children who attend with the best learning opportunities possible. We want our children to be happy contented learners who achieve to the very best of their potential – but learning comes first and foremost. Every child can succeed with the right structures and we will ensure these are in place. Every single decision we take will not be about making life easier for our teachers, parents or other stakeholders but about ensuring all of our children achieve the best educational outcomes they possibly can. If you would like to learn more please come to our Information Evening, the details of which are on the front page, where you will meet the staff, parents and representatives of KWETB to answer any questions you may have. We will be having an Information Evening in Coláiste Craobh Abhann, Kilcoole on Tues 3rd November at 8pm for parents looking to enrol their child in our Junior Infant cohort for Sept 2016 or for people who would just like to know a bit more about CNS schools. You have to network to get work usiness networking is the process of linking together individuals who through trust and relationship building can support your business and its objectives. Throughout Wicklow there is a range of various networking opportunities available. The Local Enterprise Office and Chamber’s Offices organise structured events and gatherings along with the established Business Networks International (BNI) group and more recently a new group called Networking for Business (N4B) based in Bray. The networking scene is something I became involved with a few years ago in a bid to launch and grow my business. At this stage, I am by no means a serial networker (and they do really exist) but I would have a relatively good insight into how networking works and the benefits. Having recently attended the National Women’s Enterprise Day in Salthill, County Galway, I had the opportunity of witnessing first-hand the sheer energy created by hundreds of women from every nook and cranny of Ireland coming together to make solid connections through networking. Business networking provides a fertile ground to gain new clients and to build a sustainable business. For many, networking provides an extremely cost effective way of promoting your profile and your business. Many business owners I have liaised with have mentioned a plethora of excuses as to why they don’t network such as lack of time or feeling that networking is not suitable for their business. Networking may not be for everyone but in my opinion it is all about stepping out of your comfort zone and making the effort in order to improve your personal development and achieve your business goals. At this stage, I have no doubt that networking is a process to be learned and perfected. However, I am still at the learning stage! From my past observations, some business owners genuinely believe they are actually networking by merely turning up to an event, but to be honest this is the easiest part! Arriving at a networking event can be daunting, particularly if you don’t know anybody. It may be uncomfortable trying to strike up conversation with strangers and especially performing your “elevator pitch” in front of them. For me networking is all about your

mind set and your level of participation during the event and afterwards. If you are going to take valuable time out of your schedule, I feel you have to have a clear strategy as to why you are going and what you want to achieve. In my view, being prepared for networking events is important. For example dressing appropriately, bringing sufficient business cards, having my elevator pitch practiced but most of all that I am motivated and in the right frame of mind to go. You have to make an effort and really engage with people and remember it is a two way process so don’t be selfish. Be a giver as well as a taker, share information and go that extra mile for others, it will hopefully pay off sooner rather than later. Networking is not talking endlessly about your business or doing business with the others in the room, it is about interacting, listening and making good solid connections with fellow networkers. Everyone at a networking event has a massive network outside of the room which includes family, friends, colleagues, and club and association members. Personally, I prefer to do business with people I genuinely like and trust and this to me is really the secret to savvy networking. People we meet and build a good rapport and a strong connection with over time tend to either do business with us, create valuable introductions or quality referrals for us. Following an event, it is essential to follow up with your connections by getting in touch via social media - LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter - email or better still by picking up the phone or meeting for a coffee. For me, networking is about putting yourself out there and building strong relationships with the right people – positive people who will help you and your business. It’s all about being yourself and opening new doors which hopefully will tap into valuable opportunities. From my perspective, it is most definitely a case of what you put in is a clear indication of what you will get back. My question to business owners is - can you afford not to network? Your most lucrative contract or most valuable client could be realised from networking. As the saying goes – “nothing ventured, nothing gained”. . Success on the double for PJ By Michelle McGlynn

It’s important that we mark 1916 properly

T

heCentenary Commemoration Programme for the 1916 Rising anniversary celebrations next year has been launched and boasts an impressive array of events across a range of media. The programme was produced by the Wicklow County Council 2016 Steering Group, who consulted widely with the public. Our geographical position as Dublin’s neighbour meant that back in 1916 Wicklow was close enough to the city to be able to see some of what was going on from some of our higher vantage points. Fire in the distance. Sounds of destruction. It must have been a terrifying spectacle to behold. We are used to seeing images of war on television now, but in an era when people would not have been exposed to these kind of sights it must have been especially frightening. But it offered those who saw it the evidence of the struggle and

Brian Quigley suffering that would ultimately give birth to our nation in its present form. With the GPO in ruins after 1916, granite from McEvoy’s quarry in Ballyknockan was used to rebuild it. Thus Wicklow had a very practical hand in the first steps of a post-Rising Ireland towards freedom, and it is good to see this being marked in an oral history of Lacken, Ballyknockan and Valleymount as part of our 2016 programme. The time is right now for Wicklow and indeed the nation as a whole to come together in a joyous celebration of 1916. It was a terrible time but it gave

birth to our wonderful country and the people who laid down their lives for this would want the celebrations to be a rich, confident and vibrant affair. The full legacy of 1916 will not be felt until well into the future, and it is encouraging to see Wicklow’s Centenary Commemoration Programme include so much for the younger generation. In looking back we are looking forward. The symbolism would not be lost on those who fought in 1916. ‘Words to the Wind’ will be an example of this. It will give 1916 contemporary relevance for young people by producing an animated film incorporating a combination of handmade sets, Lego mini-figures and technology based on the key events of 1916. Ambitous, artistic and very apt. A lot of the attendees at the launch of the Centenary Commemoration Programme which was held in the Ashford Community and Heritage Centre on October 23 - spoke of the importance of the programme having something for everyone

in our county. This was why the public were consulted. In order to engage the widest possible amount of people you need to consult with them. By having a programme of events that marries remembrance and imagination, film and music and youth and age we are showing our ability to do things right, to come together and pool our resources in the pursuit of a worthy common goal. The 1916 anniversary celebrations won’t be confined to the exact Easter Rising dates. They will be a year-long affair and this is how it should be. And the people of Wicklow will, I’m sure, join in the 1916 commemoration celebrations of other counties and possibly even countries that we visit throughout the year, in the same way that we will welcome visitors from near and far to join us in our own celebrations. Family members will want return from abroad to visit in 2016 more than any other year. A gathering of our diaspora, coming together to honour what started it all.

It was a double whammy for Bray author PJ Cunningham as he celebrated two launches. Cunningham launched A Fly Never Lit, the third instalment in a trilogy, in Dubray Books, Grafton Street last week. RTE’s Damien O’Reilly, who launched the book, described the series as “books that keep alive the customs and stories of an Ireland that was a different country to today’s modern state.” The latest in the trilogy of memoirs about growing up in rural Ireland centres specifically on life during the 1960s and 70s. The book is largely based on actual events and looks at the interaction

between family members and neighbours as they interpreted their roles within the tightly-knit communities. Around the Farm Gate also celebrated its Dublin launch on the same night. The rural anthology contains 50 stories from people all over the country who have written about their personal experiences growing up on or around farms. Among the many guests in attendance at the double launch was Peter Keogh, President of Wicklow GAA and famed writer and chronicler of stories from days past. Pictured are contributors to Around The Farm Gate, (L to R) Gearóid Ó Ciaráin, PJ Cunningham, Maeve Edwards and Jack Byrne (Roundwood)

with Justin Ivory

Seal pup at Bray Harbour Photo: John Ivory

Puppy love There can be few bonnier babies in the animal kingdom than Grey Seal pups. With their sleek white coat (or lanugo), big dark eyes and general air of helplessness, they should carry a warning sign – “Prepare to be Cutified”! The Grey Seal (Haliechoerus grypus) is our largest, land breeding carnivore. Breeding takes place from late August to the end of November. In the autumn pregnant females (cows) gather at traditional breeding grounds or rookeries to give birth to their single pup. A pup’s gorgeous, but very conspicuous white coat, would appear to be a strange evolutionary device for a young, vulnerable animal. It is most likely a hangover from the last ice age when seal pups would have been born in a frozen and predominantly white environment. Lack of major natural predators since then has seen the white coat remain. Another predator thwarting technique employed by the cows is the relative synchronisation of the births so the colony is at maximum population size. The pups are reared on an exclusive diet of milk for approximately 3 weeks. Grey Seal milk has the highest fat content (up to 60%) of any animal. It is not surprising that the pups grow at a phenomenal rate on this incredibly fat rich diet. Putting on up to 2kg per day, by the end of the lactation period they will have trebled their birth weight. At this stage the pups shed their white coats to reveal their grey coats adapted for life in the cold sea. The females then leave the pups to fend for themselves! It is not surprising that mortality rates among pups in that first winter can be up to 60%. With lactation completed, the cows come into season and mate with dominant male before heading back to sea. With a combination of delayed implantation and suspended development of the fertilised egg, the cow ensures that birth will not take place until the following autumn. And so, the cycle will begin again.

MOVIE of the week Brooklyn Gaiety Cinema, Arklow Irish cinema is having something of a moment right now as several films are already generating Oscar buzz and making an impression at festivals around the world. One such film is John Crowley’s Brooklyn. Saoirse Ronan stars as an Irish girl who must decide between two men in this epic romance. In 1950s Ireland, Eilis Lacey (Ronan) wants a better life for herself. There’s little work in County Wexford, so the enterprising Eilis makes a decision to emigrate to America. Leaving the comfort of her mother’s (Fiona Glascott) home, she sets sail for New York City where she falls in love with a brash Italian-American, Tony (Emory Cohen). But after a while in NYC, she returns to Ireland, and meets Jim (Domnhall Gleeson) - now Eilis must choose between two countries...and two men. Based on the much-loved book by Colm Toibin and adapted for the screen by celebrated author Nick Hornby, this sumptuous and heart-wrenching tale of love and the choices we are forced to make in life is a must-see for fans of epic romance.

Rathnew on the Leinster trail This Sunday will see Wicklow Senior Club Football champions Rathnew play in the quarter final of the Leinster Senior Club Football championship in Aughrim against Westmeath champions St Lomans. Rathnew have already beaten Edenderry of Offaly (in Tullamore on October 25) in this year’s Leinsters. The Leinster trail is a wellworn one for Wicklow GAA football clubs since the inception of the Leinster Club championships in 1970, with our county champions making it to the final on an enviable six occasions. Not bad going for a small county, and even better when you consider that on two of those six occasions Wicklow sides were crowned Leinster champions! The first Leinster success was in 1989 when Baltinglass defeated Thomas Davis 1-09 to 0-11 after a replay. Baltinglass then progressed on to win the 1990 All-Ireland Senior Football Club championship (The Andy Merrigan Cup) with a 2-07 to 0-07 victory over Roscommon outfit Clann na nGael. The 25 year anniversary of this achievement was celebrated this year in March and it still stands for me, along with Bray Wandereres winning the FAI Cup in soccer (also in 1990, and again in 1999) as the pinnacle of team sport achievement by a Wicklow team. Rathnew themselves tasted Leinster glory in 2001 when they beat Dublin giants Na Fianna 2-16 to 1-10, again after a replay. In between the

Baltinglass and Rathnew wins there were appearances in the Leinster final for Baltinglass (in 1990, when they lost out on defending their Leinster crown by going down fighting to Thomas Davis 1-08 to 0-08 after a replay) and Roundwood in 1995, when they took Carlow side Eire Og to a replay before going down 0-15 to 1-06. The first Wicklow side to make a Leinster Senior Club Football Championship final were Tinahealy, who lost their 1984 contest against St Vincents by 1-13 to 1-03. The following year saw a Wicklow side again make the final, with Baltinglass running Portlaoise very close and only going down 2-08 to 1-09 after a replay.

Greystones With the Rugby World Cup coming to a close last week, it is time to focus on the domestic front once again. Greystones went down to City of Derry by 20-17 at Judge’s Road last Saturday 31 October, and have now lost as many games in Division 2B of the All Ireland Rugby League as they have won. It’s early days though, and there’s a long way to go until next April. Greystones are still fifth in the table and will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they take on Rainey Old Boys this Saturday at Dr Hickey Park. Why not come along and cheer on the Seagulls! Kick off is at 14.30. Bray Wanderers Wicklow’s premier soccer side Bray Wanderers finished the

season on October 30 with a 4-0 reverse in Dundlak. This was no disgrace against the champions, who received the trophy on the night. Bray’s season has been one of triumph, with the players rising to the challenge presented by off-field issues and even making the semi-final of the FAI Cup. Drogheda’s relegation on the last day of the season means that Bray are now the third longest serving team in the Premier Division (behind Bohemians and St Patricks Athletic).
