01. Ancient Kamiros Before Rhodes was founded in 408 BC, three city states governed the island: Ialyssos (were Sheraton Rhodes Resort resides), Lindos (the famous landmark) and Kamiros. Being a mainly agricultural area till this very day, the region of Kamiros was famous for its pottery, many samples of which you may find in some of

the world’s most important museums like the Louvre in Paris, France. The whole city of Ancient Kamiros was nicely preserved through time with its buildings intact up to waist height. BIKE RIDE FOR TWO

Turn left If you are more of an adventurer, a skilled biker or you wish to push yourself to sporting extremes, after exiting the hotel gate turn left, with direction to the airport. Once you reach the main traffic junction at the center of Ialyssos (spot on the first traffic lights and the police station ahead of you), turn again left, inside the village of Ialyssos or Trianda, as it is called by the locals. A small alley will start expanding to Filerimou Street and will lead you to the roots of Philerimos or Filerimos HOTEL

Hill. And here is were the challenges begin: you need to bike up-hill for about 3km. The road is nice, under the pine-trees with many opportunities for stops; small chapels, fountains, open view to the whole Ialyssos bay, and on top you will find the Medieval Monastery of Our Lady of Philerimos, relics of the Ancient Acropolis of Ialyssos and the Via dolorossa, leading to a huge cross and one of the best spots on the island for panoramic views.

t h g i r n r Tu As you exit the hotel gate turn right and head straight to the town. After three kms you will meet a small hill, the Kato Petres passage, where the street splits to two levels amidst rocks and pinetrees, a beautiful “natural gate to the city of Rhodes. Stay on the main road and follow the coastline. On your left, you have some of the most popular beaches on this part of the island. After a few minutes you reach the Rhodes Aquarium,

the northern tip of the island. On one side you have the Aegean on the other the Mediterranean Sea. Follow the coastline to reach the Mandraki Area, with its beautiful marina, the buildings of unique architecture and ultimately you will reach the gates of the Medieval City, the most intriguing place on the island to explore on foot or by bike.
